  • I actually didn't plan on making this video. I only had my GoPro with me, and I thought I'd just record a little bit to share with my Patreon supporters. But then looking at what I recorded, despite it being a bit rough- I thought it conveyed the excitement of that location well enough that I wanted to share it with wider audience in case I can inspire some people to visit!
To be clear- this hike is better done as part of a guided tour- an "Adventure Tourism" tour. The tour hasn't reached its finalized form yet, but when it does I'll post links here. Otherwise- if you're interested in being guided along this route, feel free to contact me via email or Instagram and I can connect you to to the appropriate parties.
But let me also share a bit of the location, so the bolder folk can visit individually if they so desire. Basically- take the train from Sapporo to Otaru, and then a bus from Otaru to Shukutsu Aquarium. Alternatively, you could take a cab. Either way, where you want to go is here: goo.gl/maps/Pb...

It's possible, you're living your best life and didn't need to be reborn. Love your videos and I wear your merch when I go for light hikes. People ask about "Go North". It's a good topic starter for day trips and friendly hikers.

Stunning views you shared! A place where birds go to check out the views too. The little caverns were intriguing with the statuary. Looked like a great day! Thanks for sharing!

That first camera view was just gorgeous. The whole place was gorgeous, but that first few seconds looked extra crisp. Like 8k or something.

One thing I find very inspiring about Japan is the particular way nature (and often stunning nature as seen on this video) is merged with religion/spirituality! The location in this video is absolutely gorgeous; the lush foliage the blue see the dramatic cliffs, just perfect! The views are amazing - I'm not sure I would have been as brave as you were to venture along some of those exciting trails thought. I'm not very familiar with Hokkaido, and the only things I knew about Otaru were its canal and historic buildings, so thank you for sharing the beautiful nature nearby.

I briefly stopped in Otaru city on my way to Yoichi during my first trip to Japan. It wasn't part of the original plan but it turned out to be a highlight of the trip. Would love to go back and explore some of the surrounding areas. I could tell just from the train windows that there was a lot of beautiful nature and this video more than proves it.

Hwy, Quinlan, I have vertigo, too, but the scenery was amazing! It is perpetually interesting how much infrastructure there is on trails and how that relies so much on local groups to maintain it. You had a video a few months back that you participated in, and that was neat. We are looking to come after Golden Week next year and hope to stay with you then!

Wow❣️ Amazing video❣️ I’m from Sapporo, Japan but I’ve been living here in the U.S. for many many years. Japan, especially Hokkaido, for me is the best place to travel although I’m a Japanese. 😂 I haven’t been able to travel to Japan since 2020 due to all kinds of restrictions set for traveling overseas. 🥲 I love going to Otaru, Shakotan, Toya Lake, etc. Your video brought me back to the nice memories of my Japan trips I made in the past. 🥰 I truly miss walking around the street where “Kitaichi glass factory” is. I also enjoyed watching your Natto eating video as well! 😉. Thank you for sharing such inspirational videos to the world!

Btw- I was in Furano for work a couple days ago, and am in southern Hokkaido right now, just north of Hakodate. It's such a great area!

That's pretty spectacular! I've been to Otaru before but (here's where my poor life choices sound magnified) I went to the Nikka Distillery and then Otaru Beer. I fell asleep on the train back to Sapporo and I'm glad I suddenly woke up at the station because I could've ended up way out in Chitose or something.

I'm wondering, are there digital nomads in North Japan? And what are their experiences.
I'd like to go for a month (or more if possible) when Japan opens up to the masses to work and experience the amazing nature!

    • @JacobAlbano
