2:14 alex made a lane change and didnt signal, true BMW fashion
lol
Samicus well when there's literally no car at all behind him I don't see the point.
Toasty that's what BMW drivers say. :P
Ultrabenbooyah haha
Do that often 😂
here is what I learned from driving an M2 in Birmingham for a full 2 and a half months: DON'T full throttle on a roundabout into a blue Skoda.
Oh no!!!
Well that's very specific
What about red skoda??
@@kaptein1247 gladly run into it
@@Ex0ticbr4d.KR7 ok, thanks
respect bro .. a real petrolhead .. e36 m3 is a legend
karim lazialle until someone mentions the e30...
Ben Phone ^
***** lol cause it's true...
French bread 206 can be better
I bought an E36 M3 a month and a half ago for 5k and i've already spent 3k on repairs. this video i can relate to...
what were the repairs? I own simple 323i and spent not more than 500euro for repairs in 3 years. Not including Ebaich anti-roll bars or my own swapped 328 exhaust system and brakes
Eric Lee you don't know what you are doing
Eric Lee I think the issue is if you don't fix it yourself. I bought a 95' 325i sedan (not an M3) and I have purchased basically every part needed to "renew" the car for about $2.3k (car was $1600). I haven't installed everything yet but I have already gotten the motor to run without popping/stuttering so I have hope that I did research properly for the rest of the messed up parts. good luck with your car and I recommend learning to do the work yourself - if you have time to
Man 328s are over rated the 2.5 m52 is almost as fast its .1 slower to 60mph
5k is to cheap. the good ones are starting from above 8k in the netherlands
One thing i''ve learned after you've lived 1 year with the E36 is , that thing is insanely beautiful.
The Stig yep
The Stig next to an e46 it's meh it's only pretty not insanely beautiful.
Fade the m3 is really pretty, especially in real life.
Fade still better looking than any japanese crap
Péter Kulimák I'd sure take an r33 or r34 over this any day. and I'm an e46/e90 fanboy
Still, that is one stunning looking E36 M3. It's worth the effort.
Cheers!
Alex Kersten good for you! Glad you made it over the hill of misery.
That's a reach lol. I respect your opinion tho
It’s gorgeous
Your series probably has some people wanting an E36 more!
I hope so! ;)
If they bother to watch all the E36 vids and still want 1 after then they are mentally retarded. The E36 is the only M3 I wouldn't have.
# ItsWhiteNoise in the us e36 m3 is a nice car and fairly cheap but it is not even close to the euro one with a mere 240bhp new but it is faster than a e46 330i and for similar prices bit the e36 cant stand any road salt and just rusts away
Ive found a e36 320i m for 1.8k . What do you think
This series made me buy one.
I've owned my E36 m3 eco for 15 years now. Still makes me smile when I drive her, and the long drives are what she is best at.
20 years old and that thing looks amazing. Better looking than 95% of the new vehicles today.
Agreed
Your eyes painted on?
boothegoo pc And what do you drive? Not what you dream of and such.
I can relate man, I'm only fucking 63 and I agree totally!
Nice exageration. Settle down like A LOT.
A similar priced e46 would have also cost you a fortune in repairs don't worry!
Plus we all love Colin m, he's an appreciating classic it was a good move!
thedownshiftchannel can relate to that. Put in around 7k in my z4 3.0i in the first year I bought it
Anyone else pissed off how he has a new leaf on the grille every couple scenes?
"Simply avoid any possible upset by making sure you're single at the point of purchase" Basically the best advice ever.
11 make sure you don't buy a lemon
nevermind that was the first tip
D4rkz ROASTED
MRsjovealek I'm sure YOU would buy a Jag *lol*
I own a Japanese car, it's a rusted piece of shit that I'm restoring and getting a hemi for incase the rotary blows up
RavenPrecept because its better, for example:
a jeep tj is newer than a 1984 hilux, but the hilux is more reliable. It dosent matter the age.
and cheapest thing like fog lights you forgot to replace
If it's the one on the left you mean, that cracked last week, so no time to replace just yet
If you say "last episode", does that mean the car gets sold now?
Or does the sponsorship just stop?
Alex Did you get the valve clearances done and get Collin dyno’d again? Where is he now?
that feeling of driving the car for the first time and instantly falling in love is how I felt when I first drove my ae86
jdm master race !!
EightSix Andy yeah I bet hopefully one day I'll have one
boothegoo pc i am actually it makes life a lot more enjoyable
I like how he said after a few more minor repairs I shall enjoy uninterrupted then the door handle trim falls off! I have an 03 325xi and I relate completely with older bmws that there will always be little things to fix but the joy of working on it myself make me appreciate the car so much more!
Is this really the last episode??
+Boian Ivanov Time for something bigger and better (with more rust)!
Colin will be missed!
Car Throttle Pease post sth about e36 sometimes ... And get a bimmer aggain. I subbed just for Colin 😍
an neglected E46?
V6 Phil?
Don't stop the series Alex! Manny of us subscribed just to watch you and e36. Please don't stop it!
hey man massive respect for not giving up on your car, regardless if it was sponsored or not. i love Colin and i hope you have many more years of enjoyment with him to come :D
Cheers Andy, a few more bits to fix up, then all's good :)
@7:20 the screeching door and the handle - perfectly describes my feelings everytime i fix something on my e39
#1
get a god damn prepurchase inspection
#2
FIX IT YOURSELF and use oem parts rather than bwm branded parts
alex could have chopped his expenditure in half doing that
edit: oh, he did just that, i'm surprised actually considering his end of year cost
This video starts at 0:00
Ur most welcome
Angus Chalmers lol
you forgot that it ends at 8:38
KGK lol
middle is at 4:19
thats a first
Still, that's one beautiful BMW :D
The final haha! Your comments made my day ; it's all about loving what we have and the dreams we accomplish! Good for you man !!!
to be honest he taught me a lot of things during this video
this is a list of common things for ANY used car purchase.
The person paying the bill to get it through it's next M.O.T. or who has to buy another car or get a new engine or rebuild it's engine when it dies because it has not been looked after and you did not check the condition :)

BUY A VOLVO 850 T5, they are getting realy rare.😉
at9670 YESSSS! it would be amazing! i love the sound of the 850 R's 5 cilinder
Eduardo Richter is that the duretec from the rs mk2 ?
no the duratec in the Mk2 is the T5, it Volvo original
The engines are related, but very different.
+Roberto Arkenburg Did you watch the grand tour? :)
The past couple of videos the editing has been amazing!
7:20 - made me chuckle a lot!
Would you buy a lemon again if it would not be sponsored by BOTB? ;-)
things I'd do if I had an e36 m3.
1. pull engine out
2. put s52 in my e30
3. put a m52 in the e36
4. sell m3 to non car guy at normal price
A non car guy would not be buying an E36 M3
Lemonificent ha, true. maybe a dumb young spoiled kid.
There's no justification to not being honest.
IchiBanFilm k
In the UK you see on the web what car it is, cant be fooled
I've watched all of the E36 videos you've uploaded Alex, and I must say I have never been a big BMW guy but this car just looking amazing. Timeless look. Seems like a blast to drive.
Alex is an absolute legend for saving and putting the well deserved life back into the car! Can't wait for the next series
It's beautiful. I'm glad you bought it
Have you seen JPs E36 with the V8?
It's bonkers!
2 years ago I got a '73 Corvette also in sad shape. But I had always wanted a classic Stingray, and got the third one I looked at. Like you, I did not get the full mechanical inspection, and I got sorely burned. BUT, like you I learned a heck of a lot on the way, have a blast driving it, and saved it from a crusher's fate. My wife was behind me every step of the way too. Yes I spent too much on the car and on repairs, but by the time I am done with it I will have one Hell of a car. Well done to you, and thanks for doing these vids.
Too bad it's the last episode of this series, Alex! I mean, it's certainly good for you, but I really liked watching this series! Cheers from Brazil!
Cheers dude - all good things must come to an end though!
"and his wife" LMFAO
i really hope its just the last episode of " living with an e36 m3 *sponsored by BOTB* "
pls do more alex, i really love that car. and you.
This is why you get a pre purchase inspection. Spending a little bit can potentially save you a lot. It's saved me.
Honestly i was expecting another video complaining about the cars but watching it really just made me smile.. Seeing it makes you happy after everything just makes me happy aswell :)
Glad that you like the custom valving on the coilovers ;)
Haha that door handle fail was so hilarious even though I know it has to be posed.. xD nice video as always Alex.
Love the E36 myself. I feel the pain on this, picked up a 25 year old 180SX from Japan for here in the states and getting parts has been a headache. But a very fun headache! Love your videos!
i love the quote "and i would still do it again" same way i feel about my bimmer, no matter how painfully expensive they are, they are worth it.
Because at the end of the day, my car that cost me half as much as other new cars in the parking lot, mine still turned more heads, and many people who didn't know what year it was thought it was 2014+ model when in reality its a humble 2005 :)
I was here ...for one year and i think he will buy another car.
I will miss this series.
i miss my RS3...that i never had...
or my turbo s i use at weekends for that matter...
missing my rs4 that is...my good old audi 2.0 t quattro...
pxKfatmaN i really miss my r34
pxKfatmaN that i also....never had
In that vein, i miss my sport quattro...
Alex, why is it the last in the series? I love this series... It makes me feel a little better about my Audi S8 from hell, which I bought in April and has cost me thousands and is sitting at Audi West London for the 13th week as we speak. Like you, I feel like I've rescued it from the scrap heap but I love it dearly, even if it's been away for so long, it's beginning to fade from my memory.
Thanks for posting the vids, I've really, really enjoyed them and Living with an M3 is why I subscribed to Car Throttle.
also, I have a question for you Alex, how will I be able to get my RS6 Avant to Germany, like your E36, know that its legal, but where would I go.
why the last episode!? nooooo! Please alex! PLEASE!
what i learnt from owning e55 amg for 1 year: if you can pay for the gas and regular maintenance, its the best value for money & reliable sports luxury vehicle out there!
Nope, that's an Aston Martin Lagonda.
It's a 50:50 chance. You either get one that'll never go wrong, or EVERYTHING will go wrong.
Ultrabenbooyah depends upon the buyer. if hes stupid enough, he will get the one that will probably go wrong. w211s and eclass in general are very reliable.
I've heard very good things about those! Save for the Airmatic, though how's your luck been with that?
# ItsWhiteNoise never had any kind of mechanical problems! although once left side mirror indicator was faulty! lol
also i keep driving with the famous design issue squeaks from the ball joints which is not a big deal but disturbing at times like at car meets!
I'm not going to lie I think that the rims on your e36 are probably the best looking wheels on a car I have ever seen. They match the car so well and are classy yet damn beautiful. Doesn't get enough love in your comment section!
Watching this video makes me miss my e36, even when mine was just a 318i. Car ownership in the Netherlands is not cheap and i was forced to sell the e36 when i lost my job years ago :( It was a nice car, boston green, Executive edition with climate and cruise control.
It's been a year already?
Car Throttle: the LinusTechTips of car youtubers (do as I say, not as I do)?
Thank you for not pretending to be a tool during this video. You're obviously a smart guy, and watching you play the fool for the camera in some of your other videos just plain hurts.
I've really enjoyed this series, I hope something similar comes soon!
It's now time for a carbon fiber airbox
=)
More likely a carton fiber airbox.
or an SC kit :)
Carbon fiber is so over done, you little boys are all the same you complain about to much plastic well guess what Carbon Fiber is just plastic more cheep plastic.
At least step up to Kevlar in stead of following other mindless idiots.
WTF? 1 year? When? How?
I will own an E36 M3, even if the only one I can attain has the S52 engine. I just love the way they look, and how well they drive. Attainable dream car is a great way to describe it.
Gotta love that outro : ). Nicely done Alex, I really enjoyed the video.
is he doing a doug demuro and selling it to get a new car?
Only if his new car comes with a bumper to bumper warranty.
To find out more on my thoughts above, go to Autotrader.com/overstear
LOL, REKT!
Bumper to bumper unlimited mileage warranty...
Alex Kersten you replied i can die in peace now
Imad Knight 😂😂😂 you guys are awesome
alex has less and less hair each video xD
comet warcheese agree
never trust a man with a full head of hair
Why not?
mack cummy they always have something to hide like a wig or some fake hair stuff, not to be trusted
hes mourning phils death thats why
I love this car man, it sounds and looks great! Nice work on bringing it back up to scratch!
Great video, man. Genuinely great they you love the car and have enjoyed the experience.
Having restored a car myself I know what you've gone through.
7:21 WAKE UP ALEX you used the wrong door xD
Damn, I thought I was in America again!
0:15 - You dress like Niko Bellic 😂
You mean claude
my friend owns a e36 coupe....i just love it. its awesome in the city, awesome on the autobahn, is very comfortable, very fuel efficient...just love it
My hearts with you, I bought myself a lemon, and I love each cylinder so.
I'm going to miss the E36. I guess I'll just have to look under my car cover if I need a fix.
Scotty Kilmer talking to Alex: "I told you never buy a used bmw m3 they are endless money pits as they age"
It is beautiful. Always like the boxier styling of older European cars over the blobs of the cars that are produced today.
I sense some sort of humbleness on this presenter. I kind of weirdly sympathize. I've purchased an unloved 307 with the TU5JP4 engine with 138k KM on the clock. It still has some issues and i've already spent half a year's worth of my wage on it, but it is getting closer and closer to mint condition and i'm beginning to simply LOVE IT. Despite being just an 1.6 16v, it feels great to thrash about and corners quite well. Happy to own a PUG. Cheers for the great vid!
Your e36 looks way more clasic than the e46. That one just looks old
Definitely a great car and one of the last greats from BMW. Love this chassis and know the aftermarket swap guys have taken a liking to it as well. LS swap ftw!
I just realized what the +Car Throttle logo is! Its a Gear Knob/Shift!!!
Praise You. This PRESENTER and the result video are excellent. This PRESENTER is one of the best in UK and rest of the world.
7:22 cracked me up =))
Too bad the American E36 is so different 👎🏼
Yup, but if I were in USA i would buy a Mustang. I love both of them.
Mustang? Ehw
Jasapダニエル BMW and Mustang drivers are of a similar breed.
+Moar Desu but mustang drivers use the blinkers because they look cool and BMW drivers don't hit crowds because it'd damage those halo lights
Flight1sim Can confirm…
aunt is Mustang driver. She is had 2009 and 2015. Both wrecked at least once. Both her fault. Cool rear turn signal, though.

My family only has BMWs. No wrecks. Much headlights.

[oo-[][]-oo]
5:44 cheeky BMW overtake 😂
I was already afraid he was going to get rid of it. But he did not let me down. He has SOUL AND HEART for cars.
Just sourced a new idler pulley and air filter for my e46, a spare key (for in my wallet after I locked my keys in the trunk T_T) and some other bits and bobs incoming next week. My mirrors aren't heated anymore, which means new mirror glasses. I still need new door rubbers as a previous owner damaged it. Front anti-roll bar linkages, new exhaust damper, guibo and central support bearing for the driveshaft and than I'll hopefully be done ish.
E46... E36... any other car. If you buy a second hand car, especially 10 years and older, than you can bet your ass that the previous owner got rid of it for good reasons. No matter if there is a service history or not.
LogiForce86 just brought a 93 miata, off the road for 5 years, no history, can confirm. 115k miles which is actually quite low, paid almost nothing for it, drives amazingly but the problems have started already.. new slave cylinder I just replaced, door seal is shot so it leaks, need to change all of the fluids at some point from where it's been sat. That's all for now but no doubt more problems will crop up, but I wouldn't have it any other way because when behind the wheel, it's fantastic, and like Alex, I've saved a car from certain death
Just bought a '01 e46 6 months ago with 130k kilometers and each month I've been busy fixing something, well... better said every 14 days probably.
I feel the same way as you do though, and besides... it's a lot of fun working on the car you love and seeing it improve in condition each time. Plus it's just a fun learning experience altogether. :)
How to check the condition on the underside of newer BMWs?They have a plastic thingy covering the bottom...
NickMsiGaming YT I'm just a normal chap fixing up his BMW, so I don't know about newer BMW's. The E46 is the first BMW i've ever owned.
On the E46 you need to remove the top 3 in the following pick, and loosen the other plastic philips screws.
Image: www.impee.co.uk/radiator_flush/bmw%20splash%20shield%205.jpg
Ok,thats for the future,because mine is a 2012 with 120,000KM
You could've bought a Davis Sandero and used the remaining money to mod it! 😅
Tint the rear, you’ll feel better 🙂. This is why I love a BM, after 20 years still looks awesome.....and still going.....and still wants to go !!! 👍
Strange seeing you guys in my area, portsdown hill is a hive of UA-camrs lol
1 Year of Ownership = Time for Forced Induction.
You trying to get him to blow pistons at 1 year, 1 month? It's a BMW, not a decent car.
BS
M3's are best enjoyed naturally aspirated, me thinks.
Yes, but different folks, different strokes :)
sienile bmws are amazing cars fym
Nooo this can't be the last episode man
I really love that m3
Sharkisahmad is he getting rid of it or is he still keeping it?
Please do an update video on the E36. I really miss this car and I fell in love with it. Better yet, do an update videp on all the cars you had done a series with.
the series has been brilliant... really agree with you when you say your still glad you bought the car you always wanted. and saved it from being another dog! I have a classic mini that's a little rot box but you know what I love it!!!!
6:26 What?? What have I just witnessed?
First BMW driver to ever use blinkers in history.
2:16 leaf proof
Make more episodes of living whit an e36 M3!!!
Milan B how did you manage to place the H after the w in 'with' when it's the last letter?
I sold my US model E36 M3 a couple of years ago and I still miss it. It didn't have great power compared to the Euro version, but it was plenty quick and I loved the handling. I sold it with 270,000 miles on it because I didn't want to spend more money fixing what was falling apart at that mileage.
i feel exactly the same about my old 944 S2... it was a money sink and almost completely irrational, but i regret getting rid of it every day of my life....
i loved it.
song ?
Alex do you by chance play Horizon 3?
Doubt you'll see this but it'd be cool if you did :'D
I do not. FH3 + M3 = bye bye girlfriend ;)
HOLY CRAP HE'S HERE
Hahaha understand it mate, keep up the brilliant work. :)
why would you want a girlfriend?
Stephen Crowhurst
this alex bloke produces some good quality informative vids. i enjoy watchin em.
Amazing video series, thanks for the great content!
Ya know what my dream car is? A late 80's Monte Carlo SS. Always loved the look of those things
Chris. W I do like those, but I'm not exactly into them. Same body I know, but the front clip and tail lights on the Monte win me over
Damn i just seen a white one tee top
DickotheClown I love those cars, and I actually got pretty close with my first and current car. I have a 1983 pontiac grand prix and it has everything I loved about the monte plus even more. It has the 80s v8 (which is now cammed and has new headers), t-tops which are amazing, and just the whole feel of an old muscle car with some comforts and quite cheap. Not to mention the style has started to grow on me, the grille looks really good and the bodyline looks great. The only complaints I have about the looks are the blue interior (which kind of limits color options), the badges on the rear tail light, and the obvious wear that comes from a 30 year old car that cost $500 canadian. I haven't driven it much as I still need to get the engine back together so I can see how much of a difference the parts made but I already absolutely love the car.
Chevy Johnson my dad bought one more than a decade ago from neighbor cheap and did a quick flip with it, don't remember exactly how much. I believe it was an 87, had the maroon interior and exterior, kind of rough. The cig lighter would fly out onto the seat when pushed in because it was so worn. Loved the car though, can picture it in my mind
G-Bodies are fantastic, especially Monte Carlo SS'.
I really prefer the looks of the E36 over the E46!
My first car was a e36 328i and honestly an m3 is a dream. That manual and handling was unmatched.
put some alpina wheels on that and then that sexy level goes up to 10/10
buddy no, you look like a failed eastern European plumber #ohkurwa
