VAL VERDE BROADCASTING = Quality commentating from two insightful, smart, sharp, witty, upfront and very skillful ORATORS. This is why whenever I have the marketing budget I would love to promote or do a paid unbiased sponsorship on the VAL VERDE BROADCASTING. IF not, their QUALITY still stands. - James D. Watkins, artistic director of PHOENIX PRODUCTIONS.

I really like 28 Weeks Later! Along with being a really solid horror/action movie, there’s some great thematic stuff in there around the war on terror, the dangers/implications of a military occupation and the ethics of war.
You also get a shred of insight into the experience of the infected and the residual humanity they may or may not have left towards the end of the movie…
I’m desperately hoping that “Years” has substance to it or some kind of clever hook other than “here’s a post-apocalyptic aesthetic and some more fast zombies for ya!”

I enjoyed it as well and think it's underrated. You could tell it was a product of its time because of not-so-subtle parallels with the Iraq War, similar to V for Vendetta and Children of Men.

The first one was good for the time, very low-key zombie movie before the trend really rebooted. This and Sean of the Dead are the only 2 "modern" zombie flicks I'd bother rewatching.

I'm surprised they haven't made a prequel: 28 Days Before... Cmon, it writes itself.

The first film is a hallmark of the genre, it changed the landscape for zombie movies before Shaun of the Dead & Dawn of the Dead remake came along, the second one is really good, it does peak with opening scene but the rest of the film is vert good.

I recently made a short film and the actress I hired said she was a 'zombie' in 28 Years Later. She gave us a little hint of a plot element or at least some world building

Yeah, gotta love when Apple puts this up with "shot on an iPhone" without asterisking the multi-thousands in pro kit (and crew...and post!) they've tacked onto it. 😂

I hate that with a PASSION!! Be honest and upfront with the marketing aspects of this. Just like that movie called 'THE CREATOR', yeah, I give the filmmaker props for utilizing a semi-pro consumer camcorder/camera in making the movie, BUT, be FULL DISCLOSURE in letting the media, press and public know what else was 'TACKED' onto it. - J. D. Watkins

I'm looking forward to 28 Years Later, I love 28 Days Later it never reminded me of a zombie movie tonally it always reminded me of British horror like Day Of The Triffids or Village of the Dammed. 28 Weeks Later was ok to me! Richard, did you like the movie M3GAN as I found it quite funny and like a missing 80s movie? Also are you two going to do a most anticipated films of 2025 video, as mine are
    Superman
    Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning
    The Fantastic Four
The Michael Jackson biopic (it's has to be fascinating RIGHT? )
    Wolf Man
    Sinners
    The Amateur
    The Running Man (Edgar Wright)
    Predator: Badlands
And The new Karate Kid trailer looks good too!
Thanks and as always I look forward to further video from you guys! 👍

It’s been a long time since I found a trailer compelling. This one made me go from “oh Danny Boyle is doing another zombie flick? That’s nice” to “Goddamn, Danny Boyle is doing another zombie flick!”
I don’t want all trailers going forward to using Rudyard Kipling poetry, but ones that focus on what the tone of the movie is and selling that, rather than reverb piano covers of old songs for cheap nostalgia.

  • @SmashBrosAssemble
    @SmashBrosAssemble 5 днів тому +1

Obviously I’m really excited for this, especially since for the longest time it seemed we were never gonna get the 3rd film but now we are. Having Boyle back in the directors chair (although i would’ve preferred Garland directing it) Anthony Dod Mantle returning to shoot this film & I presume John Murphy returning to do the score, I really like the cast & I does look very Last of Us which is ironic given The Last of Us itself was basically 28 Days Later meets the Road.
I do have questions, like 28 Weeks Later made it very clear all the infected died out, and by the end of that film the epidemic on the Isle of Dogs is dealt with but now it’s a pandemic seemingly, starting in France, so why are we back in Britain & how are there still infected?

Definitely agree with Duncan, as soon as I saw the post-apocalyptic aesthetic I felt immediately less interested. Hoping it somehow pulls off something actually novel with it, but I am very much over that whole thing, and I'm substantially less jazzed for it than I had been.

It's going to end like the force awakens with Cillian Murphy standing on the edge of a cliff zombified as he turns to Aaron Taylor Johnson with not a word said.

I’m a bit confused shouldn’t be 28 Months Later?, but I think since it’s been in development for so long that maybe it wasn’t considered. I do like the original, sequel I found ok, but with 28 Days Later interesting to know the filming technique used for the film. It’s well done how they managed to film stuff in the beginning of the film meaning empty London. The first film I saw Cillian Murphy in was in Batman Begins I did see Ralph Fiennes on stage once about Oedipus.
That year I mean when film came out I think there was a revival not only for zombie horror films but British horror Dog Soldiers came out the same year I don’t know if 28 Days Later was a hit I mean if they made a sequel I suppose it likely was one but I don’t know where exactly it was hit between the UK and the US. Dog Soldiers is more of a cult classic, in America at least it didn’t have a theatrical release.
Sequels were shelved one idea like 28 Weeks Later was to include American soldiers in the story and another was like a weird pov story of Dog Soldiers with Liam Cunningham’s platoon being werewolves. That’s the only werewolf film I know of that ideas for a sequel got shelved.
Going back the 28 franchise I do remember trailers of the film as a kid featuring empty London, with the new one I think it won’t be good as the first film and yeah Aaron Taylor Johnson seems to be in a few things recently but last I saw him in was in The Fall Out Guy maybe it’s pronounced without the and Bullet Train. He is from an area called High Wycombe where family members live in a village nearby called Bourne End.

I love Day of the Dead 1985 yet no one really talks about it. Saw with no reference to the other films and got completely blown away.
But I agree I don't need to see another post-apocalypse scenario (even if good) I would have loved it when I was younger. There's just being a tsunami of it in every medium.
I think the reimagined Battlestar explored all the human condition and esoteric themes a post apocalypse saga could touch, I've been a bit ruined by it.
Seeing the big names, it makes me think it's going to be more 28 Weeks later than 28 days.

  • @freemantle85

I wish Richard good luck getting the Blu-ray of 28 Days Later because it's a rip-off on the second-hand market. I believe Sony is going to re-release the film because they have advertised the digital version and Joblo has posted clips on their channel

Similar to Avatar being re-released prior to 'Way of Water' after the 13 year gap [and it would make sense to do it for 28 Days Later give so much time has passed], I do wish they had re-released 'Mad Max: Fury Road' before 'Furiosa' came out [unless they did it and I missed it] as I'm sure people would have loved to see those action scenes on the big screen again but it would have helped 'Furiosa' out given there very linked but 9 years had passed so sadly it bombed.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been getting quite a bit of work since those [nonsense] Bond rumours [like with this film as he was cast in April just after those 'stories' did the rounds] which was sensible given 'Kraven the Hunter' is bombing hard currently but he'll quickly bounce back when otherwise his career could have been derailed [he was also part of the cast of the well reviewed but box office flop 'The fall guy'].

This is a bit of a 'comeback' for Danny Boyle as he hasn't directed a film since 2019 [the mediocre 'Yesterday' which felt very 'work for hire' given it feels very much like a Richard Curtis film] and his Bond movie collapsed. Given he's concluded he's not suitable for franchises, it makes sense to return with something he's familiar with.
