She’s right kids! I’m a gagger and avoided it. I’m still embarrassed by my gag reflex but telling your provider helps. Getting crowns and bridges soon - but yeah if I only had TTGs advice 10 years ago.
@@kurpal8904 I just make them take a panno. They’ve tried and tried with my and no one has ever been successful at getting a full set of bite wings from me.

My hygienist used an X-ray to make sure she got everything cleaned on DRS cleaning and I’m so amazed the she took the extra time just to make sure all my teeth were clean.
I'm currently on an externship as a dental assistant, and I was taking an FMX when the patient started having a massive gag reflex and on the very last bitewing he threw up on me and started screaming at me saying he was never going to take x rays again and left. He didn't even let the doctor do his comp exam. The worst part is that when I asked him if he had a gag reflex he lied and said he didn't.
At my new dentist I had x-rays done and their smallest bite wing couldn’t take great images, but it was still too big for my mouth! It actually caused my mouth to bleed where parts of it was jabbing into my hard and soft palates. :(

I have seen forms from the Dental board that you can download and print to refuse the x-ray by accepting all liability. If your just wanting an extra cleaning between visits this should not be a problem right?
When I assisted I’ve had to tell patients we also can’t bill for services without X-rays including the ones that were new that just needed their dentures replaced whether it was a partial or a full denture!

Because I had a very unpleasant experience of a dentist that told me that I need a filling but refused to take an x-ray prior to the filling even though I asked him to. I told the other doctor who was about to check my teeth. She said, "In Australia, they don't use the apron anymore." I googled it and it states: Lead aprons offer little protection during X-rays. ... That's now an outdated practice.

In theory, it’s safe. However, as a patient you have the right to request that they put the lead apron on you anyway and they should agree to it without fuss.
I have an obvious cavity on my tooth I don't want to pay 160 for an x ray and waste time getting the cavity removed... Now I have to wait longer to remove cause the dentist wants to waste time.
Hi. Could you demonstrate how retainers are cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner at a dental office please? Do you change out the water & sterilize for each retainer or use a bag? Thanks.

receiving x-rays yearly is safe, however for the clinician taking x-rays on 8-12 people daily for 5 days a week -- that would be too much radiation. we practice ALARA. hope this helps!

Not once has a dental xray diagnosed anything for me. In Europe they don't xray unless there's a problem.

X-rays and root canals bring in a big portion of revenue for the slick dentist….

We just get tired of the constant cavity search.

I have a sensitive gag reflex and a small mouth. My hygienist uses the child size bitewings for me. It helps a lot and doesn’t trigger my reflex.

Once a year is max. 2 X-rays a year is unreasonable
I got dental x-rays done a few days ago and the plastic part left pressure sores in the soft part under my tongue.
This just happened to me this morning. It’s 10pm and I’m still in pain!
