  • It's been exactly one month since the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan.
Their victory has brought an end to decades of fighting but they face a mounting economic crisis and scepticism over their commitment to human rights.
Despite assurances from the group women will be allowed to work, most have been told to stay at home for now.
Our Afghanistan correspondent Secunder Kermani and cameraman Malik Mudassir sent this report from around the northern city of Mazar e Sharif.

Anyway do yourself a favour and look into this stuff it's pretty interesting and a far better use of your time than replying to me with such random arguments. In the sisters case about being uncertain for the future... As the head talib said, they need more businessmen to return in order to create job opportunities for their countrymen (i.e men, women, teens). As the sharia allows our women to conduct business as the prophet pbuhs wife Khadija ( as ) was a successful business women herself, the taliban won't restrict women from working. There's just not enough jobs. Being a war torn country I'd say 80% of careers choices we have, they don't... that's the main concern really.

Not brave, just normal. There's a lot of misinformation on what the Taliban are doing. Education was never denied to women when the Taliban came back into power. What you're thinking of is what they did back when the were in power 20 years ago.
They're allowing education up to post-grad (masters and I believe PHD level). The only restriction is that men and women are educated separately and that both follow a dress code policy set by Sharia Law.

    No?

    • @pats3071

Two things. The Taliban aren’t a terrorist organisation, while extreme, their aspirations lie solely in ruling over Afghanistan, as they once did. They are not ISIS, they are not Al Qaeda.
And the US didn’t intentionally send arms to the Taliban, they provided arms for those Afghans fighting the Taliban, you can’t really make that comparison.
Edit: Also if you’re inferring that those fighting the Russians were Taliban. They were not.
The US provided arms for the Mujahideen groups fighting the Soviets, most of whom opposed the Taliban when they formed after the Soviet withdrawal.
Many Mujahideen leaders who worked with the Americans went on to form the Northern Alliance, who continued to fight the Taliban throughout the nineties and who were the reason the Taliban fell in 2001 (along with US aid again). The Northern Alliance, many of whom were the sons of those who fought the Soviets, were the original foundation of the Afghan National Army.

What i think is, Taliban may be may be strict of moralities, but their governance would be much better then the previous government, which was corrupted to its core. Taliban would be able to control many important issues like law and order and corruption much better then the previous government as they are much better disciplined.
