We eat our cowboy candy on hotdogs ,enchiladas, I give jars to my neighbors they are in love with it. I love your videos.always dreamt of going to Australia. Blessings
Looks great and equipment innovation is always fun to witness! I have been meaning to make cowboy candy but would have to start w a recipe sized to one jar!
Cowboy Candy Yay! Your canning videos are so informative. I am always a little nervous canning so I make sure the jars are sealed and pray I have done the process right lol! I always feel better after watching your videos. TFS!!!
There’s a lot of apprehension to begin with, now I’m a bit blase about it lol. There’s so many other videos out there about canning that I like to give that other superfluous info, why I do the recipe I do and how I like to use it hehe
I'll try this if I ever come across cheap chilli's, or grow our own. We are starting to prepare our beds for spring time. I was thinking of you when I was taking the excess straw, poop and top layer of soil out of the chicken coop! Sorry if that sounds weird! Our soil is crushed granite with a bit of clay in it! It's shiny white in strong sun! In just the 5 months or so that we have been here, the granite looks like soil now. This is what would help your veggie garden. The bonus is that it doesn't cost anything!
We definitely have to get better at harvesting the stuff out of our chook pens! We really need a little side by side/quad with a trailer, we don't put the straw thick enough in the chicken beds because of the amount of time it takes and therefore a lot of it just turns to nothing rather than something we can rake up! We're trying to improve it! :D
Take the top layer of topsoil out of your chicken coops, pig pens etc. Either add it to the garden beds or dilute it with water. You don't just need the straw, it's the top spade full of soil
@@sharonburling2262 I think it’s just too dry too much of the time so the ground gets very compacted. I was looking at doing the deep litter with wood chips! But the pens are such a distance as I said lol, it’s a lot of work!
i noticed you had bandages for blood taken , i hope you not ill .it no wonder your uploads been stacking up with all you do in a day plus sorting yourself , i wish you the best heath and i am sure like me the other followers here be happy to just watch what you can manage to put on ,
Thank you Diane, the bandages are actually for the burns heh, I was silly and didn't keep them covered when I first did it and they got very angry so I had to keep them covered for a few extra days with some burn ointment on them to keep them moist. :)
Cowboy Candy - your uses are so helpful. Thanks for the tips and educating us. Hey, friend, did you get burns on your arms. I am a nurse, concerned. I loved that funnel item you got from your friend. Very interesting.
It was super handy! Yeah, I got them on an aluminium bread tray, they were quite bad, I left them uncovered too early and they discoloured and were splitting, so I had to put the dressings and burn ointment back on them for a few days 24/7 just to moisten them back up, they're all good now though :)
I make this for my husband. I do the slices though because he likes to eat it on sandwiches and pizza. He would love this way as well for the marinade! I will have to do a batch like this !
We did the slices initially, but I had to cut them a bit smaller even for Darryl, so then I did them diced the next time and it worked fine, but the mincing just works so much better across so many different uses lol, and all the extra brine means that when its minced it seems to permeate it better! :D
I love how informative you are in you videos. I’m thinking Cowboy Candy as gifts for Christmas. BTW was that a baby galah at 6:29? The first time I heard one it freaked me out so much 😂.
It's so tasty, in so many things, I really wasn't sure I'd like it the first time I made it, but now I grow (or try to) jalapenos purposely to make it :D
I love Cowboy Candy ..I put it on everything and put the juice in my V-8 and tomato juice when I can't find the Spicy version in the store..now I can't find the Cowboy Candy in the store..the woman who shops for me says they don't carry it ,last little jar I got was over 4 US dollars plus tax and I could blow through a jar in a few days .. like I said I eat it with EVERYTHING LOL 😂 I like your new Kitchen Gadget ,that's really a game changer to save your wrists and forearms from carpal tunnel pain
We use it in a lot of things hehe, and if D remembers, he'll put some on just about every meal hehe, but I'm normally the one serving and I forget! It is great! I did have to use both hands, it was a little heavy and the height you have to hold it, but much much quicker than ladling!
@@kimmcvitty3580 yes a jug is much better than a ladle and I have been using one, but I still find it hard work and pretty messy, this was definitely easier!
It's not overly spicy, it has heat to it, but not a burn your mouth kind of spice, well if you ate it straight it probably would! You can use any kind of chillies you like with it, so you could use really mild ones, and yes you could definitely reduce the amount of chillies you use, but the way I use it is that its just a drizzle in things, so the sweet heat is lovely if that makes sense ?
At least to me it doesn’t matter what order they are in…. I watch them in a mixed up timeframe anyway…it all depends on how much time I have to watch…since I like to watch videos in their entirety…if I don’t I hardly ever go back to them and I’ll never see the whole thing…if I don’t have time shown on the time stamp I usually won’t start them until I do 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️….definitely just me though 😏….. h you really do need a bigger pot 😳😊
I do the same, I only start a video if I have time to watch the whole thing, otherwise it goes on my watch later list lol! I do lol, it made such a mess! :D
5lbs = 2.26kgs. 😋 🌹Rosie of Oz🇦🇺 & 🐶Omega the Cavalier🐶 PS, where do you get your celery salt? I live in Western Australia. I have tried making my own with 2 parts dried celery leaves to 1 part salt. What would you recommend? Ta again, 🌹Rosie of Oz🇦🇺
I was thinking on the fly the other way round hehe, the 2.2lb per kg, your way is probably easier to remember! I got mine from a catering place I think, its a big big jar lol. Most celery salt is using the seeds not the leaves with the salt, a bit of a diff flavour, if I was using the leaves I think I'd use prob a higher ratio to the salt, like 3:1 or higher rather than 2:1 because those leaves have lots of fragrance but not a whole lot of flavour I reckon!
Much better now, I didn’t keep it moist enough there for a bit and they were cracking and bleeding so I had to keep them lathered and covered for a bit! But they’re healing up nicely now
Harris Scarfe have a sale at moment, sign up as a friend for savings. It finishes today! They have 21.5L Chef Inox S/S stockpot for $199.99 usually $399.99. Says low stock at Carrindale. Not sure if this helps, but thought I'd let you know, maybe your mum could get it or arrange delivery to her. I bought myself a cast iron, enameled pot. I hope the burns are getting better.
That is not something we would eat...not a fan of hot spicy food. But if I made it , I would definitely want much smaller pieces of the peppers. 😊 and small jars!! Enjoy!!
I really didn't think it would be my thing either, and I definitely don't drizzle it over a meal, but the flavour of it in marinades and in mayo and pastas etc, so so good! :D
My other half makes a chilli sauce which is way to hot for me just taking a little swipe it burns my mouth but his sister and husband love it and go through heaps of it in there lasagna Went down on weekend made like two batches and he whipped up this lasagna with a whole cup of this sauce no white sauce just lots of cheese it and other stuff was not hot at all I was like might have to experiment 😂 was great and I not a fan of lasagna

We find it much more versatile than the big chunks!
Cowboy candy 😋😋😋😋 Great recipe and your suggested uses really appreciated ❤ Thank you for sharing Nyssa 😊 Love from the UK x
We really like having it on the shelf, it can add so much flavour to things easily.
I am so happy to see this video! Been waiting for the cowboy candy recipe! Thank you
Hehe, I had to get to the point of needing to make it lol! :D. I was desperate by this point though! :D
Me too :)
I’ve been looking forward to you sharing this recipe. Thank you!

@@sharonburling2262 there is no loose soil, it just compacts to hard clay, unless we’re really good about deep bedding them :)
Oh bugger! I'm guessing because of the differences in climate from here and up there

So worth having on the shelf :D
Yum ❤ I’m not a real fan of hot/spicy so I was happy you mentioned it wasn’t over powering 😅
Me either! I made a tiny batch the first time and discovered I love the syrup ‘in things’ but wasn’t a fan of the big chunks of spice etc :)
We made some with the jars of jalapeños from Costco, love it 😍
