Love this stuff from the Honky Tonk Man! Love it!! Just one question:Who is he referring to, as to him having to do Announcer's work, alongside "Daffy Duck?!?"
I used to comment on Rhythm & Blues' act at Wrestle Mania VI, where they were supposed to sing their latest hit with Jimmy Hart holding the golden record in his hands of that so called new hit of theirs. Which first of all astonished me, because I thought that the golden record was for real, so I was always wondering who bought their singles. The first thing that was great about their act, was when they came in with the Pink Cadillac. After all those years of hearing the Honky Tonk Man's entrance song : "Coming through your town in my Pink Cadillac..." Finally we got to see his Pink Cadillac. Great stuff. They sang their new number one hit once and just when they were about to do the "encore" because the fans in attendance really asked for it... Yeah right... All of sudden there were two goofy guys at ringside, pretending to sell magazines or whatever and the Honky Tonk Man noticed they were the Bushwhakers. The Bushwackers stepped into the ring. I think one of them gets knocked down with the guitar or not, but the Bushwackers quickly got the advantage and destroyed the guitars in the middle of the ring, while Rhythm & Blues ran away with Jimmy Hart... on foot. I know the air time might have been the reason, but I always found it a missed opportunity where they could have tossed in an unexpected extra match. No matter what the outcome. Or maybe Rhythm & Blues win after distracting the referee and one of them Bushwackers get knocked cold with a guitar. And afterwards the Bushwackers destroy the guitars. Anyways, the more I rewatch that event and that particular segment, I do feel it was a missed opportunity.

Most of them in the shoot interviews you could tell weren't as they were still warey of playing the politics game, making sure not to say the wrong thing about the wrong people for fear of perhaps not getting back in with vince & the company. Even if they were retired as they all still lived with the prospect of another payday or that Hall of Fame. Since most of the shoot interviews were done in the 00s, lots of the 80s & 90s wrestlers were still alive, and hoping for that phone call with a connecticut dialling code. McMahon probably made the hall of fame a big deal at that time, as a means of using it as a carrot to hang over their heads to keep them quiet. Because remember before the mid 00s the HOF really wasnt as big a deal, it was more of a private behind the scenes thing, not a big payday. Then there is always the stick as well as the carrot! Hm...maybe they should have put the belts on Honky and Hammer for some real heat, then squashed them for the titles in 30 seconds at Wrestlemania 7 with the Road Warriors. They were on their way out anyway.
Rhythm and Blues could have had a short run with the tag belts. Harts lose to R&B in October / November 1990, Rockers beat R&B at Rumble 1991, Rockers lose to Nasty Boys at WM7, Nastys lose to LOD at Summerslam. Easy.
Honkeytonk man is wrong on tag team partners looking alike. Road warriors, Demolition, Rockers, Killer Bees, Nasty Boys, to name a few where same partner styles work good together.
Greg "The Hammer" Valentine was his best. His run with Tito Santana, his team with Beefcake, where he was obviously the better more experienced of the two, was his prime. Rythym and Blues was a fill in team for a couple guys who had already seen their best days in the business. Honky should have had a better match with the Warrior when he dropped the belt. For his own legitimacy. He still would have put the guy over but look at the retirement match Savage had with the Warrior in putting the Warrior over. I think HTM regrets that Warrior match at that major pay per view that took months of legit great work and character work and made him look like a jobber. Then how short lived the Warrior really was.
Valentine was a very good wrestler great heel. Decent on the mic. Tht dumb gimmick dying his hair and giving him a guitar. 🎸. Took away some from his career.

one of several dumb ideas from vince... i really shouldnt have to explain why it was so bad.. but obviously greg dying hair and he had nothing to do with music... and its wrestling so even the honky tonk man was goofy.. pairing them and calling rythm and blues is also silly , its wrestling, and has nothing to do with it, teams dont need silly names..if u insist naming the team you better make it good...i mean if fight and someone said oh no here comes rythm and blues,,, you would just laugh,,. not be intimidated...
