IT IS TIME to get a little cursed, my friends. Ever since I saw these AVAVAV boots whenst scrolling on my phone, something has been urging me to try to recreate them. The need to fit in with my adopted frog children? Possibly. The want to slap around loudly whenever I enter a room? Maybe. Whatever the reason, I decided it was TIME. Taking mostly leftover materials from my dragon puppet project, I got to work. I also made a little mod 60's dress that is slightly less cursed.

Frog biologist here! Most of the frog children Rachel has shown on her channel are Green frogs (Lithobates clamitans) and their call sounds like a loose banjo string 💚🐸

Rachel, I don't know if you read comments - but after watching you for ages I finally got the gumption to transform into my final form and make a "hobbit dress" (pinafore dress in textured cotton dyed a lovely dark green). I've been sewing for ages but was always too chicken to make myself an every day dress that maybe crossed into "but is she going to renfaire or the grocery?" Then I thought, what would Rachel do? And I made the dress. ❤️🥰 So thank you for sharing your ideas and skills with all of us.

This actually made me remember a dress that I owned in 1969, when I was 11 years old, that was a bright lime green with purple accents, pockets and front zipper with a purple and green flower zip. I hadn't thought about that dress in years. It was one my favorites.

For your future craft goblin knowledge: You can make fake bread from Upholstery foam. I made a real cute Croissant with some leftover upholstery foam. It was yellow not green, though.

I think fabric paint would work to paint foam! that's what people usually use to make squishies (foam and fabric paint)
I want you to know that just 30 seconds before you started talking about significant others coming into the room and asking cautiously "Whatcha watching?" my fiance had done just that. And then to hear you narrate it a few seconds later was the most perfect chef's kiss.
I swear I find all these "cursed" projects more cute and fun than I probably should.
Also, I absolutely adore when we get cameos of Binx and her dramatic screams. 😂She reminds me of my own calico, just a little louder.

I love the idea! If you have more scraps of the textured fabric, you could make a lily pad belt to cinch in your waist, and make the collar of the same material. It will bring everything together. Oh, and frog eyes on a headband would be amazing!
This made me think of the Princess in the Frog story but the princess is just randomly kissing frogs because they're cute and then one turns into a prince and she just ignores him to live in the swam and become the frog queen.

maybe writing down what you don’t like about the fit of this dress would help in future constructions? or maybe you should try shapewear/padding? when i find the clothes i make don’t look as flattering as i’d like i usually realize it’s because my idea of what a body should look like is warped but padding and shapewear can sometimes help, even if it’s just to make things look smoother? it also helps with like more period accurate silhouettes.
also maybe you could do another video of coming back to old projects and making slight alterations to see if you can come out with an end result you love more, i really liked that video!

• a contrasting green over belt (yoke or broad maybe?) with lily pad buckle
• a smallish lily pad sling bag to balance the pocket
• also, I’d try a “mossy” trim to the boot tops 🤔

Love the lily pad dress! I do think making the pads out of that 60s fav-Naugahyde or ‘rich corinthean leather’ or shiny, plasticky fabric will suit the chi nicely better (and fit the mod theme).
