I love your style of presenting- both very informative and rather entertaining. I’m getting this particular model of SMP tomorrow and honestly, can’t wait . Regards from Cape Town
That's a great watch you have there Mat and a great video too. It almost breaks my heart that I live and work in a country where I will never be able to afford a modern Omega like that. But hey maybe a used one will turn up for a good price, so wish me luck 🙂
I love the modern re-issue of the Rail-Master with the co-axial and silicon spring. I'm here for the pegging of the jewels. Glad you always make a point of mentioning that during the cleaning process. Super Nice.
I love your skill and your sense of humor... The video production is very well edited and very interesting, especially for those who own this excellent watch Well done Do keep making your exciting videos
I bought it new in 1999. 2 services. Still working as thé first day. I préfèr it to my sub. Easy to wear, efficient and no james bond or fashion victime image. A.must have.
My 1st real timepiece. Over 20 years old now but seldom worn as I've treasured it. Wish I had confidence to self service but currently still on level 1 Molnija pocket watch watchsmith 😂
Great video. I'm treating myself to a Seamaster next week, my first "proper" watch so am binging Omega videos at the moment. P.S. Where I come from, "man cheese" is something quite different :)
It was my Daily watch during 20 y.... (1996- 2006 except weekends and ceremony my Rolex days lol) mechanic is really great...even today in my display case .but exterior and bracelet have signs of intensive use. I change bezel ,all bracelet link pins... after 4 failures of theses links.. origin glass is perfect. I do service , but no polishing.
I've got pretty much the same watch but blue face. It was losing half a minute a day. I just got it back from Nesbit's in Seattle and man is it nice now. I enjoyed watching this to see what's actually inside my watch.
Quite a bit to often „super fit, super fresh, super nice“ for my taste, BUT I like how you explained everything and your camera work is also good 👍🏻. Thank you for the good video and enjoy your beautiful watch in good health 😃 (this model brought my attention to the Omega dive watches many years ago 😍).
Love your video!❤ I have the exact same watch since 2005 and it runs spot on, maybe plus 2-4 seconds a month. Should I send it for its 1st service? Even if it keeps time perfectly? I use it only from time to time. Thank you!
Thanks for watching 👍🏼 That's a great question. Although watches are similar to cars you have to ask yourself how often should a service be. It depends. I would say if you started noticing either something not right, like how it winds or the start of some problems setting the time etc and of course a drop in the timing then yes you should have it serviced. Some people religious do it every 6 to 7 years regardless of how it runs. Modern watches use a much better oiling system which do not wear out as much as ones on vintage pieces. To conclude I would say based on what you said you are fine to live with it as it is. It is not losing time, I assume no issues with anything else either.
Brother, you need to get that watch serviced if you have never done it before. I've owned several Rolex's and Omega's over the last 30 years, and I've seen the insides of my watches, and one Rolex I didn't have serviced for about 13 years, and several parts needed to be replaed and it cost me a small fortune. I've bought watches that were older that hadn't been serviced in a very long time, and the same problem came where they ended up needing parts replacements. Now, everything I've bought that has been serviced regularly or my personal watches that I have had serviced every 7-10 years have worked flawless and everything is still original. For longevity definitely service regularly. Cheers!
I have an Omega Seamaster 300M Chrono with the three sub-dials. How much more effort and or difficulty is this watch to restore vs. the standard 300M? Thank you, Dennis Rooney
Good question. If it’s a straightforward service without running into an complications then around 4 hours. Just bear in mind that every watch is different
If it's just a straight, strip, pre clean, clean, rebuild, oil & regulate then it would be an afternoon. Of course this doesn't include any problem solving or investigation. This is just based on 'everything was fine before, just needs a service'
OMEGA started making them in 1998 there were also a few special versions like the GMT model and Americas cup with white gold bezel and a updated movement with 2 extra jewels

Nice work! I have my self the model 2054.50.00 still working great! My favorite Watch over the other and new Omegas
Thanks 👍🏻 it’s one of my favourites as well. I love how slim it is for what it is
Having bought a 2255 last year it is a pleasure to see such a detailed work on the heart of my own watch. Great work Sir.

Wow!!Great Video..I own this exact watch. Bought it at Costco for 1300$ back in 2004. Did not realize it had such a strong following.
Many thanks. They really are lovely watches
Same here almost around the same time same price but from Saudi arabia, still have it .
That is a great looking Seamaster!
It most definitely is 💪🏻

That’s awesome. It’s still my main daily beater
Love this watch. I'm just about to pick up the 2252.50. The 36mm mid size version of this. Really looking forward to adding it to the collection.
The 2252.50 is also a great watch, wear it in good health. Thanks for watching 👍
Great Video Mat, and i love that watch, wow a real stunner.. and of course Super Fresh, Super Nice...
Thanks a ton!
I've got the exact same watch. I lent my one out to a friend and it came back broken. Not FRESH!!!! Saving up money to fix it... Love ur vids. RE
Thanks for sharing. You should get a new friend after that though 😓
I like that you left the exterior as is as a tool watch should look like.
As it should be 💪🏻💪🏻
10k subs incoming. The quality of the video is way higher than the sub count would suggest.
Haha that would be awesome if it happened
Ω HB! And you got this video out with all that remodeling noise, what a feat! 😂

Good choice! Thanks for watching 👍
What's the 38mm version's reference number? Cheers.
I think I would rather have this model than my Brosnan Bond quartz model!😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
The 2254.50 really is a great watch. Don't knock your though as they are also great watches
Wow amazing work, congrats!!!. My 2254 needs mantention, but in my country, Chile is dificult find something with your incredibly hability!!
Thank you so much for your comment :) I hope you manage to find someone close to home that can work on your Omega 👍
Hot topic: watch makers leaving their initials inside the case. Persoanlly, I like it as it adds to the history of the watch.
I don’t think it’s something that is really done nowadays
@@HorologyBiology I agree. I just sorta wish it was. I know I'm a minority in that.
They're not "broad arrow" hands, they're sword hands. Broad arrow hands have a...broad (wide) arrow.... funnily enough.
You’re absolutely right there 👍
Thanks for another interesting video. Super fresh 😊
You're welcome ☺️

Fresh video
Hi, nice video, does it needs to be wind every time you wear it?
Not if you wear it every day. If it not been used for a while and not running then it is always advised to give it a few winds before you put it on 👍
I believe the 2254.50 already discontinued in 2008, not 2012!
👏
I have an Omega Seamaster 300M Chrono with the three sub-dials. How much more effort and or difficulty is this watch to restore vs. the standard 300M? Thank you, Dennis Rooney
Hi Dennis, it would be more time consuming for sure as the person would need to remove all of the Chronograph mechanism as well
Hi!
do you know
if it is
making much
the dial for
new seamaster to the old 2254.50 case
?
I'm really not sure if it would fit sorry. Thanks for watching 👍
Hello there , I wanted to know what that yellow squishy ball you used was and what’s the purpose of it in your work?
It’s a case opening ball. Very cheap to buy but very effective for opening screw case backs as it minimises 100% any chance of slippage and scratches.
In a real life situation, how long does it take to complete a service on this watch?
Good question. If it’s a straightforward service without running into an complications then around 4 hours. Just bear in mind that every watch is different
If you were not to film this. How long would this take you? I own same reference watch its just stopped ticking :(
If it's just a straight, strip, pre clean, clean, rebuild, oil & regulate then it would be an afternoon. Of course this doesn't include any problem solving or investigation. This is just based on 'everything was fine before, just needs a service'

@@HorologyBiology is it possible to make a living out of servicing and repairing watches

👌🏼
The cover is an anti-magnetic cover not a dust-cover; there would not be anh dust inside a 300m depth-rated dive watch.
Technically they are officially referred to as dust covers 👍🏼 You are totally right about them being antimagnetic, literally says it on the 'tin'
How much service cost???
Nothing, it is my personal watch 👍🏻
£900 from omega
Your accent blows my mind… what’s going on there?! 😂
it's a deep mess of uncontrollable
Really surprised no mention that someone has used Duraglit et al to polish the bracelet and no understanding why it still looks bad ???
The case and bracelet were just run through the ultrasonic. Nothing was polished my man
@@HorologyBiology Not suggesting you messed with it more that it was never mentioned.
The bracelet of doom :(
Pretty sure they had stopped making these by 2012
Maybe you are right and I miss calculated
