In my Childhood Cutter was the biggest hero for me. I can remember that I tried to hold back crying because my parents were also in the room. That destroyed me :(
I like the fact that, although he'd never admit it, Lester did care about Cutter, regardless of the hell he'd always give him. You can tell just when he's yelling for the ambulance how he's trying to be professional, but is saddened.
Yes. Despite their arguments. James Lester respected Nick Cutter as leader of the team. Why he took his time to find a new leader. Because no one can truly replace him. Because he's the reason why they know what they know.
That Lad Connor should have die back in series 1 because he been near death quite a couple times in this show but he survived. That why I think he was the greatest one out of all of them in the team.
I love how it was Connor who had the last scene with Cutter and also carried his bodie out of the burning Ark building. Prove he was loyal and a great friend to Cutter.
And also passing the torch of the main character on. After this point, it was kind of the Connor and Abby show. I mean, we followed them a lot, for the most part, but it always felt like Cutter was the main focus.
I thought Captain Ryan's death was really sad. I loved him and Cutter's respect for each other and the twist with him seeing his own corpse was heartbreaking.
Claudia Brown and Jenny were same person. But after the anomaly to where Captain Ryan died. Something went wrong causing Jenny to be there and Claudia never existed
After Stephen's death i already felt devestated and not even a couple of episodes later and Cutter followes him. This scene absolutely gave me tears when i first saw it (Even the second/third time). This is the point where the series broke down into pieces. Without Cutter or Danny Quinn as team leader, it just isn't Primeval anymore. Matt Anderson was a very bad replacement. Everything is so well done in this scene, the soundtrack, the writing. I really hope they will make a sixth series or a movie one day and i hope they will bring him back
I felt the same way. After Cutter’s death the show just wasn’t the same. Out of everyone he was the Main Main character and without him it just was hard to watch it go on
What really sad about this was that Jenny never got a chance to tell Nick how she felt about him and that last Nick and Connor was so sad. Great acting there from Andrew Lee Potts and Douglas Henshall.
He shouldn't have gone so early. And Danny shouldn't have gone so early. Matt's okay but that's all he is. Really hoping for a season 6 so they can make Matt interesting or have Danny return or SOMETHING. At this point I just want Primeval to live on in some way. If the show can't be continued then do something else. Future Predator could be the key, it's the show's most famous creature even outgrowing the show's fame itself. Make a proper 18+ horror movie with it or something, I'd throw my money at you to see that.
@@tommystudiotomdunn4506 Douglas Henshall his actor didnt want to be in the show anymore. Probably given the show was always on the edge of cancellation every season though thats just what i believe. But i definetly know he was written out cause Douglas didnt want to do it anymore.
Danny was gonna come back. The only reason he left was because the actor who played him was filming x-men at the time Primeval was filming series 4 and 5 so he could not come back for them but if the show did more series he would have come back.
Tbh I want to learn Directing and shit to hopefully buy Primeval and make a film out of it with the original writers and the cast from the new seasons, but I doubt I’d be good at it
The end of an era. I did honestly enjoy the rest of Season 3 and even 4 and 5 despite some issues I had with them, but the show that came after this definitely had a different feel to it without Cutter.
People won’t understand that this show and this character make me want to be a Palaeontologist. Sure there are tonnes of great movies and shows with inspirational characters but to me Nick is my hero. I sound like a complete fanboy but I’ll fight tooth and nail to become a palaeontologist, and I’ll do it all for Nick Cutter. Rest in peace Nick 1973 - 2009 🦤
There was always the running thing of Lester and Cutter being at odds, but I think this is the only time we see that Lester really did value him, as a good man if nothing else.
There was actually some writing in the Primeval novel, The Lost Island, hat shone just a bit more light on this dynamic they had! “The entrance to the base was a slaughterhouse… …For the first time, he believed they might all truly be dead. He hadn’t allowed himself to think it before- Cutter, that arrogant ass, always seemed so indestructible. But now the possibility was very real.” -The Lost Island, ch 20.
Damn, he was my favorite character. And out of all the way's he could have died, he was killed by the women he loved that he tried to find for so long, and died next to his friend. A very sad way to go. May he rest in peace and be remembered well.
I know this happened because the actor wanted out, but in my head canon there's still the possibility of Nick Cutter still being alive. Here's my theory: the one that Helen shoots is actually the clone which somehow survived the initial blast. Would bring a whole new meaning to "you're not as smart as I thought you were."
Just watch this again. That soundtrack was so sad and the part where Connor had to say goodbye his mentor and friend and where he carried him out of the burning Ark was sad. The look on his face when he walk out. He look devastated.
It would have been better if Helen Cutter also died in this episode since Douglas Henshall wanted to leave in the 3rd episode and that Christine Johnson was the main villain of season 3
Most unexpected & shocking moment of childhood. I'd never watched a show where the main character dies, especially halfway through the season. Also Connor should've become the new team leader. Andrew Lee Potts & Hanna Spirit earned their right to become the main characters.
If anyone had a great character development it’s lester he started of not caring about them to being completely destroyed when cutter dies and ends up caring for The team even more afterwards
well, he went from just a functional person without interest and who is despised to a real leader who takes care of the safety of his team and is involved

I won't say the show died with cutter, but I would say I would like more with a Character similar to cutter. A witty iconic Genius, would be perfect with a science fiction show like this. He is kind of like the Doctor. His death left some space for Connor to grow, though I felt Connor gives a way different vibe even after his growth. And I am sure that his death was a bit abrupt since it comes from Douglas Henshall leaving the show. So they have to write off Helen too since their is no match from the protagonists' team against Hellen. Leaving Hellen's plan and ideology obscure. The revelation in S5 that Helen is behind it all along is kind of not explained and fuzzy. It’s kinda sad because he said one of his best filming moments was the first episode of series 3. But he did like his time in Primeval (as shown in some making videos).
Once Stephen, Claudia/Jenny and Cutter all left the show the energy and connection the original cast had was all gone no wonder it sadly failed after Season 5
What if ??: Cutter didn´t die but instead went into a coma. In episode 8 while looking for Abby´s brother, Danny stays in the future to look for his missing brother. And then Cutter wakes up and he learns that Claudia / Jenny left. He goes after Helen along with Abby and Connor and once in the future, Connor finds out that he created the anomaly artefact using Cutter´s map. Cutter follows Helen into the Pliocene and after she dies, he uses her book to find out what happened to Claudia Brown.
This show actually was a banger back in the day when I was a kid the whole dinosaur feel and them evil things was the bomb never new the names of people tho 😂
For me, I would had kept Cutter at least until the end of Series 3 to die where Helen did & within that time developed Danny so we would have had Nick & Danny have some interaction before Nick died so the audience could get to know Danny enough so he'll be more exempted by Series 4.1 as the new leader. Nick could say something like "If anything happens to me, your encharge." Not to mention should have had Danny through Series 4 & had Series 5 or a 6th Series about Danny's pursuit of Patrick.
@@Skriptts I am awear of that, and I think it establishes how lacking the characters that made the show interesting in the first place makes the later Series far less interesting.
season 4 felt more like a soft reboot, especially with the irish cast, felt way too different i think thats what throws it off, it wasnt a very smooth transition. If they couldnt of kept what they had season 3 wouldve had a good cliffhanger to keep for awhile. or wait until they can keep their cast for a return and set, not revam the whole program. imo ^^
@@Skriptts I was very upset myself at how Danny only returned for 1 more episode, and Sarah Page was killed offscreen. Between the 2, I prefer Season 4 a bit more only because at least it had Danny for 1 appearance, and it had a decent set of cool creatures for ARC to face. Season 5 was worse because it didn't even present any interesting creatures. They all were either ones we've seen before or looked a lot like ones we saw before. Plus that cliffhanger ending I felt was very unnecessary. Much like how I would enjoy Season 3 more if Cutter stayed at least till it's finale, I would’ve liked Season 4 & 5 more if Jenny's gradual shift of mourning Cutter's loss and moving was fleshed out over 7 episodes instead of just 2. And that the storyarc with Danny & Patrick wasn't crammed in to 1 episode, instead was fleshed out for at least half of that Season.
@@remynatorrr5011 I have to disagree. I actually think Danny is one of the worst characters in Primeval. He's reckless, cocky,, completely ignorant/incurious about the creatures and does not learn anything or grow as a person. And ultimately, HE is the reason why the team gets trapped in the past at the end of Series 3 because he chose to disobey Lester's orders and break Eve/Helen out of Johnson's HQ. Yes, I know people like him because he's an 'action man', but that does not make him a good character. Matt isn't perfect, but he is objectively a better leader than Danny. He's far less reckless, he takes responsibility for the team (I never noticed him using Connor as terror bird bait) and he actually understands something about the creatures they're dealing with. Also, unlike Danny, he actually has a character arc in that he learns to open up to other people and accept love and help from them.
@@harryvideoz8863 Do you like Danny because you thought he was cool as a kid? Or do you like him because, in hindsight, you still consider him a well-written and compelling character? Because I genuinely struggle to see how anyone could make a compelling argument for the latter. I know a lot of Danny fans like him for being a (debatably) cool action man who cracks snarky one-liners. But once you look beyond that, there’s really not a lot he has going for him. He’s cocky, reckless, pretty disrespectful to the other characters sometimes (he refuses to apologise for wrongfully arresting Connor even when confronted about it) and really doesn’t seem to care about the creatures beyond beating them up. This wouldn’t be such a problem if he at least showed meaningful development as a character, but he doesn’t. He starts off as an abrasive, cocky dickhead and ends as a very slightly less abrasive, cocky dickhead. Also, when you think about it, it’s actually his fault that he, Abby and Connor were stranded in the past. If he hadn’t disobeyed Lester’s orders to not break Eve/Helen out of Johnson’s base, Helen could never have stolen the artefact and there’d have been no need to chase her through the anomalies. Becker wouldn’t have had to stage rescue missions to find them and Sarah wouldn’t have been killed. In fact, if it wasn’t for a raptor coincidentally attacking her, Helen could very well have succeeded in wiping out humanity, all because of Danny. Conversely, I really don’t understand the anti-Matt sentiment. He’s a much more responsible, sympathetic and qualified team leader, and he actually has a character arc in that he learns to open up to other people as the show goes on. So far as I can tell, the real reason why people don’t like Matt is essentially because he’s not Danny Quinn, which is a good thing!
The UK Series ended after Series 5 due to bad reviews so there is no Series 6. Primeval: New World is the American Spin off show I’ve never seen it but apparently it’s 13 episodes
What ever happened to Sarah page? I just finished rewatching for the first time in years and I just realized she’s not there... I can’t remember if she died or what happened to her
Does anyone know why they decided to kill Cutter's character? ... Considering that he dealt with almost the entire series, I find it hard to believe that it was simply the writers' idea ... Was it the actor's decision?
This is a very emotional scene and very well acted. The music is beautiful and moving but I can’t help but feel this is I’ll timed. In a Series lasting 10 episodes it seems premature to kill Cutter off in the 3rd episode. I do like Danny Quinn very much don’t get me wrong but In Episode 10 the final scene between Danny and Helen is pointless cause they hadn’t really known each other that long. Nick should have died at the end of Series 3. Also too soon after Stephen
That one died he was forced by Helen in his programming to detonate the bomb that set the ARK ablaze. He did however manage to fight it enough to tell the real Cutter to run before pushing the button.

He goes after Helen along with Abby and Connor and once in the future, Connor finds out that he created the anomaly artefact using Cutter´s map. Cutter follows Helen into the Pliocene and after she dies, he uses her book to find out what happened to Claudia Brown.
I was actually asking if I could go to bed because this upset me
Guys i know this is so sad but he died because he didn't want to do it anymore
This show actually was a banger back in the day when I was a kid the whole dinosaur feel and them evil things was the bomb never new the names of people tho 😂
In that moment
The serie change
For ever
Nick cutter
Why😢😢
For me, I would had kept Cutter at least until the end of Series 3 to die where Helen did & within that time developed Danny so we would have had Nick & Danny have some interaction before Nick died so the audience could get to know Danny enough so he'll be more exempted by Series 4.1 as the new leader. Nick could say something like "If anything happens to me, your encharge." Not to mention should have had Danny through Series 4 & had Series 5 or a 6th Series about Danny's pursuit of Patrick.
would’ve been great but the actor wanted to leave, and after the relocation of set after season 3 the show was pretty much ruined for me in season 4
The worst mistake Primeval ever made was killing off Nick Cutter.
The second worst mistake was replacing him with Danny Quinn.
Danny remains acceptable and nice but he is not better than Nick, it is especially Matt the black point
@@wildtom3076 I really liked Danny obviously not as much as nick but he was still great it just went downhill with matt
Primeval site when Is season 6 for primeval I want to watch it. Or is it primeval new world
The UK Series ended after Series 5 due to bad reviews so there is no Series 6. Primeval: New World is the American Spin off show I’ve never seen it but apparently it’s 13 episodes
Primeval new world is a sort of a continuation of primeval just not has good
The characters in new world were fucking annoying
Pretty Sure.. That Nick Died Because The Actor Wanted to Move on..
#bringbackprimeval please
Primeval was never the same after this. It was still good, just not as good.
He was my childhood hero.
well, Tom, Stephen, and Nick.
And then...2 episodes later, bye Jenny Lewis.
If I could cry I would
Stephen was my fav but I wish I could work at the arc anyway I’m still working out how Hellen would kill nick
What ever happened to Sarah page? I just finished rewatching for the first time in years and I just realized she’s not there... I can’t remember if she died or what happened to her
If I remember correctly, she dies in between Series 3 and 4 in an attempt to rescue Danny, Connor and Abby
Evan Kirincich she got killed by a Future predator
She died offscreen as the actress didnt want to return.
This is not how I thought he would go out.
i cried with this scene
Does anyone know why they decided to kill Cutter's character? ... Considering that he dealt with almost the entire series, I find it hard to believe that it was simply the writers' idea ... Was it the actor's decision?
It was the actors.
Actor wanted out
Upload the scenes of the spinosaurus or the tyrannosaurus rex or others scenes of the dinosaurs of primeval
I cried when I saw this
This is a very emotional scene and very well acted.
It was too soon why did I do this to Nick cutter
Was watching this episode today... My allergies started up...
Make Everybody that died (besides the characters who were eaten or died just for the begging of the show) come back!
Cant watch now... he was the show
Wernt there 2 cutters at one point mb there's another in an anomaly somewhere and if primeval come bak
That one died he was forced by Helen in his programming to detonate the bomb that set the ARK ablaze. He did however manage to fight it enough to tell the real Cutter to run before pushing the button.
Its all downhill from here
My hero is dead 😭😢 But why he dead 😭 matt not 😠😡 nick cutter 💪💪 It is possible to restart the series please with the same actors it would be difficult I know but try to do it. Please 😢😭
