I gave up on bluefish over 15 years ago because I just couldn't handle the oily taste. But this year, I discovered a fantastic way to prepare it that gets rid of that greasiness! If you bleed the fish properly and filet it right away, then let it marinate in milk for 24 hours-voilà! You're in for a delightful treat!

That’s probably why I can’t mess with it. Maybe if we post apocalyptic times then I’m feasting on blues. But to bleed it is one thing but to have to soak for 24 hours in milk is a bit much for me. I always see people filet kings and blues at the pier and their meat kinda looks the same I imagine they taste the same

Hey Nate ,Thanks for sharing love your content, I'm in Florida now but ate a lot of Blue Fish up in Connecticut,,
Best recipe I've ever used on them is as follows.
Bleed them out and keep iced .
take fillets and put them on a sheet of foil ,season with pepper and a little Old Bay (not too much)
add sliced Sweet onions, peppers ,and Tomatoes....
sprinkle a little white wine over the top
add 2 pats of butte and a squirt of Lemmon .
Wrap tight in the foil ,throw it on the grill medium heat .
15 minutes flip it over 5 minutes on second side .and enjoy
absolutely best I've had people tell me I'm lying it's NOT bluefish.........You can Thank me Later...LOL

Blues taste Great! - Only After you soak them in (Red wine vinegar with oregano, garlic powder, old bay, and butter) under the broiler after the soak for 30 mins. Bravo! You will NEVER throw one back again. The vinegar gets the oily taste out. Little lemon at the finish, YUM!

    Blue fish.
    Bleed it.
    Filet it.
Bake the filets with butter and Cavender’s All Purpose Greek Seasoning in a glass dish.
Serve over a bed of Jasmine Rice.
    Any side will do.

Yes, I’m in Jacksonville Florida. I eat bluefish all the time. I think they’re fantastic as long as you eat them small under 2 pounds. They’re fantastic. I’ve even left fillets that I filleted and I was so lazy. I totally forgot them in the refrigerator for basically four days and they were so delicious not fishy whatsoever.

In my first comment, I told you about the chain Pickerel. Anyway, if you know, Brant Peacher from Angler up with Brant, he did a catch and cook video with chain, Pickerel, and the way he cleaned the fish was unlike any other fish cleaning I’ve ever seen. He said that you had to do it that way, something to do with trying to fillet them the regular way makes them not taste as good as they can be if cleaned the way he did them.

Bluefish aren't bad if they're fresh. We've always cleaned and cooked (fried) same day. They taste very similar to mullet that way.

As long as you bleed the bluefish and eat fresh (never freeze) they are good little stronger than most fish but makes great smoked fish dip

I have ate them before and they are really good to eat you have to wrap them up in aluminum foil with a little bit of butter onion, bell pepper, salt and pepper and let them cook. And they're really, really good that way

Great eating size bluefish. Fillet and grill or smoke them. Smoking is the best. You do not know what you are missing. Smoked bluefish pate. They get really big and that is when people complain. I have eaten them up to 18lbs, just cook them a different way. Smoking always is good.
