  • Follows the life of three friends, T.J., Mack and Kleber. When they were young, something happened that would haunt them for the rest of their lives and they would each achieve notoriety in their own way. Kleber would become a journalist. Mack would get by on his looks and would become a movie star. And T.J., who has a dark side, would run all sorts of scams and would somehow become an evangelist.

Complete TV Mini-Series. Was taken from Starmaker VHS which was duplicated in the EP speed. That being said, there are some tracking problems here and there despite this VHS being new condition. Decent quality, nonetheless.

My god, THANK YOU for this!!! I saw it when it originally aired! I was 17. For the past 30 years of marriage, I've been telling my husband about it, but never been able to find it anywhere! Two days ago, we were talking about old TV, and I brought it up again, then, as a lark, I did my 234th search for it, and here it is, posted just a month ago!!! Tonight we watched Part 1. Tomorrow is my birthday, and we'll be watching parts 2 and 3! I can't thank you enough for this excellent gift!

I was17 when it originally aired in 1984. I turn 54 in a few weeks. Back in the 80's most of those bestsellers came to life in miniseries. Far better quality than this reality shit they show today.

@jett woodward Boy wasn't the 1980's amazing for Miniseries, this one, Lace (ABC) and The Thorn Birds (ABC). The only one I didn't really get into was Shogun. Yet in reality it was Kleber who was the victim, because when you go back to the beginning you see the Main character. Kind of like in Lace with Judy ran up the Hill for morning Breakfast at her Private Boarding School in Switzerland.

You won't see it. You may have seen the Scene where Jeffrey looks in his Father's Bedroom with his Assistant. Also in the 1980's they weren't as open about Sexuality then as they are now. In Lace Pagan (Played by Brooke Adams) discvors that their "Home" is now a Farm for folks who want to lose weight or detox from Alcohol/Drugs. She also discovers that her Mother's Business Partner Selma is also her "Lover" who calls the shots to make the enterprise successful. In Princess Daisy (The Book Version), there was a Lesbian Scene where Vanessa Valarian who along with her Husband Robin a Married Closeted Fashion Design Team, seduces Topsy Short the beautiful Young Trophy Wife of Ham Short a successful Businessman. I have to admit I was kind of peeved when Mac & TJ crashed the Interview. It was like when Jermaine and Randy's Children crashed the nterview Oprah did with Prince, Paris and Blanket.

Too bad the TJs character didn't make it to Las Vegas and eventually bought himself into casinos. But then he probably would have been bumped off by the mob since he didn't know how to keep his nose clean.

Aunt Mabel could have said "This Gift You Were Given Is A Gift From God, but no matter how good you may be as an Athlete, your Career will not last forever, it's great to be able to play a Sport, but remember Education can get you further than any Sport can." Also in Garden Of Shadows (The Prequel To Flowers In The Attic). Olivia Winfield Foxworth (Aka The Grandmother), turned to God after her personal tragedies but it didn't stop her from doing what she did.

He was good in that too. He and Joseph Bottoms were also in the miniseries Holocaust from 1978, I think. He played a Nazi in that.

The conversation that Aunt Mabel has with Mackenzie kind of parallels John Lennon's Conversation with Aunt Mimi who raised him. She said "A Guitar's Okay John But You'll Never Make A Living Off Of One!" Boy was she wrong.

Utterly silly movie, but I'd love to just kick back and be in 1983 or '84 again sometime and remember watching this thing, if I think I could stand it. It was awful back then, and the only reasons any 'critics' tried to praise it was in case it became a ratings hit, so then they would be right.
I saw the book and read some of it and there was some drivel about the guy's aunt when she had him wasting away downstairs, like she'd molested him or something, that her perfume was all in the room.
Then she was supposed to have eventually cracked up and staggered outside naked with a blanket wrapped around her head and croaked. So glad all of that was left out of the movie.
