Agreed. I've been hooked on UA-cam for about 15 years, but I am thinking of leaving. It's nothing but disgusting ads now. Four interruptions in a five minute video.
Are you serious? It's called UA-cam premium. I live on next to nothing, in San Francisco, and it's still more than worth it. I watch UA-cam regularly And can't have interruptions. It's a bloody bargain, I mean really. No sac here, just frugality bordering on cheapness 😂. And then there's the guy up here ☝🏼 with the technical solution for free!?
Memories from a time true music were created by inspiration, not only to sell but to inspire and reflect art as natural as it should be…I was 13 and fortunate to be introduced to this music by my brother…
Well see, he created the demo for this track in 1970, which would make him 17 when he initially recorded it. But he was 19 when he completed it.. this young man devoted 2 years of his life to this work of art and it absolutely shows ❤️❤️
one night,Late '73 when this first came out ,fell asleep with radio on . Heard it by chance while in the middle of heavy REM dream stage.Awoke , just as it ended, and a commercial spot began -with NO credit to the song's title ID !! Wiping sleep from my eyes , made a mad call to the radio station to get the artist .Too late, there had been a shift change. Had to wait to call later that morning to get the FCC log entry to find out.

Remember buying this album back in '73 when I was just a spotty kid of 16. Blew my mind then and still does today all those years later. Where did the time go ..............
1973?! For 25 years I always assumed it is just a classic from mid 80s. But it is a decade older. Wow. Anyhow, Mike Oldfield and Jean Michael Jarre, are still amazing to listen to.
i am 64 years old i bought this record when i was 14 years old obviously on vinyl came home and listen to the album and they were scratches right at the beginning of the record and retuned it to the store i said to the salesman i don't usually return items and the salesmen said i understand and gave me a new album. Not the the album i listen often to but the best music that was ever written and love to listen to relax thank you Mike
Embarrassed to say I only knew this as the theme from ‘The Exorcist’ then came here and realised it’s like…this entire epic masterpiece?! And was solely composed by the cute guy in the vest who looks like a literal teenager? Mind. Blown 😅
Totally agree.... I can picture it now... One side of the road was Tubular Bells, turn a corner, and someone was playing the B side.... Walk further along and somewhere you could hear Dark Side Of The Moon.
I've seen this before but never noticed Steve Hillage had such a prominent role. Virgin stablemates at the time so I guess it's natural he and Mike Oldfield would play together.
This magnum opus is brilliant. I aways look forward to introduction of the instruments in the final movement. Kind of a precursor to voice sampler programs on the digital keyboards that were to come in the later half of the 70s.
This music is coming to my theatre in Canberra ACT . I am a seventies x hippy and I am totally excited to relive one of my favourite incredible musical memories, mates have passed on I have no one to go to the concert with. I shall try to stay still lest I be told off by security. I pity kids who cannot move to something as incredible as this.
Hi, just by chance, do you know of an eccentric English chap named Captain Tom Harwood? He’s a friend of mine and lived and worked in Canberra a while ago where he brought his wonderful musical endeavours?

The original album was just Mike and a multi-track recorder, the live version just shows how many passes he had to make to get the piece onto the master.
Happy Birthday Mike Oldfield born on May 15, 1953. He is an English musician, songwriter, and producer best known for his debut studio album Tubular Bells (1973), which became an unexpected critical and commercial success. Though primarily a guitarist, Oldfield plays a range of instruments, which includes keyboards and percussion, as well as vocals. He has adopted a range of musical styles throughout his career, including progressive rock, world, folk, classical, electronic, ambient, and new age music. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Oldfield
Richard branson (owner of virgin records) said in a podcast that had to give Mike Oldfield his car for him to do the live session as he was about to back out because of his nervousness.
Tubular Bells album was recorded at The Manor in Oxfordshire. Same place as the album in my profile pic Black Sabbath - Born Again was recorded. Tremendous.
No sex appeal to any of them this generation would say. Fine, but talent was the thing then not nails, fancy hair or filters. Although Mike would likely still pull his look off today after fifty years and that's the definition of a true icon. Go Mike 😊
Never seen a more massiv gathering of musical genius, even if some names not common, they all participated in or initiated other classics of modern music.
The year I was born. the innovations in music during this time and maybe into the next decade or 2 were astounding. This was 1973, imagine this being heard in 1958, you couldn't. Things have certainly plateaued over the last 20 odd years. I yearn for days when we see real innovation again. I hear the odd 'different' track that makes me really tune in, but not much. No offence to the types around these days, but to say they're bland is a big understatement (IMO), most stuff I hear these days could very easily have been churned out in 2002. Where's the innovation. Ginger hair, a blond chic strumming a guitar with tunes that might have made B sides 25 or 30 years ago just does not cut the damn mustard.
To put an ad in the middle of this masterpiece is simply one of the most sacrilegious acts that youtube has ever committed.
firefox browser plus its ad-blocker plug-in, problem solved, never see any adverts online again
