Officers Coughennower and Weispfenning are dispatched to an intoxicated subject fleeing from a bar with her child in a stroller. The woman is found a short ways away arguing with good samaritans trying to protect the child. The woman is arrested for public intoxication and child endangerment. The woman's daughter is released to the custody of her great grandmother, and she is transported to jail. The bartender is interviewed, and explains the woman came in to fill out an application for a job. The woman then got drunk and fought with other patrons in the bar which started the ordeal and prompted calls to police.

What she meant was she was doing those three things, but not at the same time. She wasn't actually at the bar looking for jobs. Her sentence structure wasn't the clearest.

Like I stated in my comment on this video, this mother acted like nothing more than a spoiled and entitled teenager. She probably was in her teens when her baby was born.
I would say it isnt a good sign when you say that since i think it indicates that its common that you are in trouble.

But I just find it ridiculous when other people say "oh, I'll be praying for you" "Your in my prayers" or "Praying for you" when you pray, the Bible says so itself that you are suppose to pray in private and to not boast. To say you will pray for someone and do not follow through only shows how stuck up and selfish someone is. What if this family does not even believe in God. Then that is only offensive to them. So really you are just affending the family. Something like that is better left unsaid, just do it in your own time.

I think that was Portland, where I live...lots of very young homeless here... Infact there is a relatively large population of 'street kids' who for one reason or another live/ sleep on the street. Probably been struggling with several issues before she even got pregnant...glad there was family in the picture to help the kid.

Im one of those people..
I suffer from tumors and ovarian cysts and have since I was 13. I'm 29 as of now.. My Fallopian tubes collapsed from a 7.9 meter abscess. Which are now Tangled with my left ovary and wrapped around the back of my uterus where it's stuck by massive amounts of scar tissue. Even to this very moment, I still suffer from cysts that constantly erupt on both ovaries and it is one of the most excruciating pains imaginable. In One of the last surgeries I had, there was a tumor that they wasn't aware of that actually erupted during surgery so they had to cut me in form of a C-section to get the infection out before it became fatal.
I've been through three OBGYNs who were completely scared to even touch me because of the seriousness of my problem and then referred me to a top of the line specialist. I'm high risk for ovarian cancer . And they've urged me several times to seek a full blown hysterectomy yet I refuse to go through with that.
Cancer is very active on both sides of my family. Both maternal and fraternal.
I would truly give anything to have a child . But in the meantime I try to keep my faith strong in the Lord. If having a baby is meant for me then I know that God will bless me with that regardless of the issues that I struggle from.
I know that there's so many beautiful children that are in foster care that would give anything to have a good mother and or father. And I would love to make one of those children mine , but at the same time, I would also love the opportunity to have a baby that I'm able to birth all my own!
The whole situation is just heart wrenching and it doesn't make it any easier when I see people like this. It's people like this that truly disgust me to my core. I just don't get it I've never been able to understand why they do things like this!
My heart and my prayers go out to that innocent little baby and I pray this woman finds her way! I've been in addiction I know what it's like. My addiction began around the age of 14. But I got to the point of being sick and tired of being sick and tired and I promised myself I would make a change and I did just that. I've been in my sobriety for a little over 3 years now and I work extremely hard every single day to make sure that I don't go back to where I was before. I'm so completely thankful to my Lord and Savior and to my support system because without them I don't know where I would be today! ❤

And Yet Child Protective Services never take away children from parents like this one 🙄.
I’m glad her grandparents grabbed the kid- Sadly state child protective services do not do a good job screening there foster parents some kids are better off with there chaotic biological parents than the state.
CPS does everything that they can to help Mom's and Dad's stay together with the baby. They would move than likely give the baby to the grandmother while she had a court order treatment. They do what ever possible to keep the family together. Too many kids in foster care it's so sad.
The main issue with taking children away from unfit parent is what to do with the children then. Any possible solution is woefully underfunded. There is nowhere to put the children, so they can't be taken away.
I can say this much, CPS do make mistakes and there are some workers who are not fit or compassionate enough to do their jobs effectively but I ask you to present ANY job or agency that does not have a few rotten apples in the bunch?! There are certain careers that are so sensitive in the nature of it that it will NEVER be 100% perfect and dividing parents from their children regardless of the reason goes against nature and there is no way to present these actions as a moment of celebration.Nothing is "Perfect" when it's being done out of "Imperfect" terms. And I promise you putting a child in foster care with the "possibility" of a bad environment is better then leaving a child in a "guaranteed" in the moment bad environment!

It's not illegal because of any moral or safety reasons! Marijuana/hemp has been illegal because it competes with other more politically established industries. It has more to do with greed than common sense unfortunately.

I had a class with a kid that would leave for thirty minutes out of nowhere to go drink in his car. He had been kicked out of his high school and was trying to earn a GED or something via the community college. I never saw him again. Pretty sure he ended up in prison.

I continued drinking secretly for 2 years after pronouncing my sobriety by switching from Jim Beam and E & J's brandy to vodka!! Thought I was brilliant! Always carried 2 bottles with me everywhere. One with water, one with what I called "guten wasse" or "good water"! The wife finally busted me after watching me chug half a bottle of water with ease. She told me she knew it was booze because I couldn't drink water that fast! True story
Wonderful to see someone from the law enforcement taking care of the child in the stroller which could have fallen out at any time.

I don't usually advocate bringing in Child Protective Services but in this case it's desperately needed. That "mother" needs to get herself together and get her life straightened out before she can parent that precious little one. Working in a bar won't help.

Damn of course this was filmed in the capital of my home state, Des Moines. The east side no less…. This happened like 5 minutes away from my house.
This took place 5 years ago, wonder how everything went for this mom? For her daughter? Hope the mom was able to see this as a chance to get her life in order, to make some changes for her and her daughter or any other children she might have.

I'm an alcoholic but for the love of God lady! I hate to see any child taken away from their parent. I hope this woman finds the help she needs and that doesn't happen. One of my concerns is her temper and one day that little one is being a pill and won't stop fussing.

Just passed this bar a couple weeks ago. Can’t believe I’d never seen it before, the many times I’m in that area in Des Moines.
