For me, it is absolutely the Urban Grey. I like the blue, but I prefer a stealth daily driver. My current HS (2020) is white, my Urban Grey auto is being collected in 2 weeks, just arrived in Bristol docks, so not long to wait now! Have to say I had low expectations when I got my last one, but I covered 90k miles in three years and had no mechanical faults at all; tyres, brakes and servicing were my only costs. Great video, thank you.
The only car review I ever saw where the reviewer wasn't old enough to drive , that being said he did a super job and he has a future in car sales . He convinced me I am ordering mine this week I hope MG takes note of the feed back this young man has gotten and offer him a job when he finishes his schooling.
Thanks for watching Garry, I’m glad you found the video useful and even ordered one for yourself! I am 19 so I do drive and left education a couple of years ago. I appreciate your comment, I already work for the motor group as an internet specialist, sales isn’t for me.
for a young man you have done a brilliant job, far better than any car salesmen that i have ever come across if that company dont take you on they will be missing out bigtime. really well done you are a credit to all youngsters and i hope you do really well in the future and go on to greater things in life. by the way i am going to look at the hs on sunday and i think you have allready persuaded me before i even get there. thank you very much
Thank you so much for your lovely comment Andy! I do work for the group as an Internet Specialist, photographing cars and making videos like this! I’m sure you’ll love the HS and thanks again, Sam.
what a fantastic video from this young man very informative best video i have ever seen just ordered mg hs trophy manual on motorbility love the car the only issues i have is there is no panoramic roof front parking sensors and electric tailgate usually drive nissan qashqai 12 yrs but decided to have a change ordered the white so good luck to you in the future you deserve it.
Thanks for your lovely comment Jackie, I’m glad my reviews are useful and helpful to people like you! Of what’s available on Motability, the MG range is excellent value and has shorter waiting times. The Qashqai is also a great choice, I understand why you’ve had them for so long! I’m sure you’ll enjoy your HS though + it’s got a bit more power! 😄
Great review young man at least you are doing something productive with your time well done. Just to let you know all automatic dct versions do have power tailgate including the petrol one.
Okay peugeot lied through there teeth to me about my new order of the 2008 which led me to cancel the order, It was in regards to retrofitting the heated seats into the new facelifted car I was supposed to be getting in October as they stopped fitting them into the GT models. They promised me that I would be getting what I ordered in regards to the heated seats and now i'm not. Not a great start to a relationship with them. Anyway that aside I popped down to Chapelhouse MG Bolton today and spoke with Phil Jones the motability specialist (whom was fantastic by the way) and placed an order for my new Automatic MG HS 1.5 T-GDI Trophy 5dr DCT in silver with the optional Red and black leather interior. It was the only one available that has already been built and on route to the uk on board the ship. I should be getting it at the end of September. You made a comment about no electric boot in all the range? Mine and the HS Trophy I seen today had electric boot doors? It was thanks to your great informative review that led me to decide on this car after yesterday's let down by peugeot, so thank you and ignore all the negative comments. Kind regards lee 😊
Great review thank you for looking over the HS Trophy it's amazing 😍 my wife is getting one soon as she's disabled so going through motobility I'm the driver and it look so nice and comfortable for her and plenty of room for her wheelchair 😊
Thank you! I’m sure you’ll both really like it, the MG range is great on the Motability Scheme as the lead times aren’t too long and the advance payments are reasonable. Thanks for watching, enjoy! ☺️
Very well informative. Hope your channel will grow more and more. I'm about to order one. Is that 100% clear that even in top trim level of 1.5 petrol engine there is no window roof?
Thank you! Perhaps I’ll revisit the HS at some point in the future and give it a test drive too, I think if I did I’d review the plug in model. I have driven a manual HS only down the road though so I can’t really give my full thoughts on how it drove, however I do remember it being fairly pleasant!
Great review, i really like the new look of this mg hs, will get myself one in few years time, mg hs trophy,6 speed manual with red leather interior in black or pearl white which looks stunning in video, got a black diesel jeep renegade limited 4 months ago which i love sn keeping it for 5 years till hire purchase is finished then see what do then , lovely mg an great video 👌😁🏴
Thank you John! Yes I’ve driven a Jeep Renegade Diesel before and really thoroughly enjoyed it! I’m yet to see the HS with the red leather interior in person but it looks good in photos. Enjoy your Renegade, thanks for watching 😊
Very good review. I have rented this car several times and I was impressed . The only thing I wouldn’t recommend is a small engine and the manual gearbox.
Thank you! Yes the HS is a nice car. Are you from the UK? Our model is only available with a 1.5 turbocharged engine and the choice of a manual or automatic gearbox.
Hello sir good to see u and u really well put things together and explains very well.. keep it up and God bless u.. i had a question where to get those complete set of front and rear bumper with indicator lights in front also those front headlights and rear led lights..
I’m guessing you currently have a pre-facelift HS? Ask your MG dealership if they have a parts department, and they should be able to help for genuine parts. It may even work out cheaper to exchange your car for the new model. As the Facelift is very new to the market, parts will be harder to get hold of, if you wait a while some used parts should become available online. I’m glad you found my review helpful, thank you for watching!
Very confident young man, maybe he should do the review from a pasenger point of view as he is to young to drive, looks like a young Chris Evans. Well done young man your review helped me to purchase my MG HS auto in grey.
I’m glad my review was helpful Nick! I am old enough to drive but don’t drive every car I review, this particular model had literally just arrived off the truck so wasn’t ready to drive. Which Chris Evans the presenter or Captain America 😂 I hope you enjoy your HS!
Hi, thanks for your comment. Reading this article: www.carexpert.com.au/car-news/mg-delays-update-for-its-popular-mid-sized-suv I believe the facelifted HS will be coming to you next year.
Possibly, I’m sure the production costs are less than competitor’s cars made in Europe and here in the U.K. Many brands are moving production to Asia. The HS is also a global car meaning it is sold in many markets, that also helps keep the price down! But I think the reason many brands charge what they charge is simply ‘because they can’!
It’s depends it’s a manual or auto, manuals most people state can average about 40mpg and the auto a little less than that. The plug in model will do better than both though. If anyone has any figures for your car please comment below! 🔽
The annual road tax is £180 for petrol and £170 for the plug in hybrid model. The £0-£1,040 is the first year on the road tax, which is included in the OTR price from new.
MG is litteraly taking the piss of british customers with the Trophy petrol only, top specs options.... No 2L engines available, no auto-sunroof, no fog lights, no other colors for interior (only black & red). Honestly..... Good value for money, but is Rubbish in compare to same Trophy from Asia or other countries..... Also the so called infotainment system is trash! If MG didn't ad one at all and allow customers to attach their own tablet (ex: Samsung Galaxy S8 Ultra) would have been amazing! But nooo, MG needs to do what China and british government wants now.... Very very dissapinted......
Just bought the petrol only version. Absolutely trash!!!!! The gear box and engine are rubbish plus the quality of the used materials screams cheap China..... I wish I never bothered with this overpriced junk.....
Thanks you, yes I’m still getting used to my new mics, I think it had buried itself in my jumper! I’m used to having a lapel, but the new ones are much better. I will keep the placement in mind for my next videos 👍🏻
That’s right, both are no longer on the petrol models. The plug in hybrid Trophy gets an electric tailgate but no models have a sunroof now. They have a light headlining so there isn’t a major need for a sunroof but it is a shame it has gone, likely to keep the cost the exact same as it was! Most models have increased with the introduction of a facelift but MG have a managed to keep the same price. Also there are many pre-facelift models available which will be at a lower cost.
We've already got a two year old VW Tiguan and have just taken delivery of a brand new HS Trophy. Only had it a few days but so far enjoying the experience. Infotainment seems a bit dated and not as easy to move through as the VW. Not taken it out through country lanes yet so can't comment on it's handling there. But around town it's a lovely ride and in many respects it rides over the poorly kept roads more comfortably than the Tiguan. Certainly deals with speed humps in a nicer way. Inside feels lovely and the use of materials isn't far off in terms of touch and feel to the VW. Front seats are really comfortable and I've already found it easier to get a comfy seating position than I did with the Tiguan. The kids have said the rear seats seem very reclined although all three of them have said it seems bigger in the rear. The same can be said with the boot which is again much larger than the Tiguan. I went into the MG dealership not really expecting a great deal as I based my expectations on the first of the Chinese offerings from the brand. Really really impressed with the paint finish. So smooth with zero orange peel effect and the panel gaps look to accurate tolerances. So far............both hugely impressed with it and very very surprised how they have upped their game. I also can't believe what you get for the price either.
I’m glad your enjoying the new car! The rear seats can be propped up (8:10) , so they’re not as reclined. Boot space is actually slightly smaller on the HS than the Tiguan, however there is under floor storage which means it is quite practical. I’m guessing as your Tiguan is 2 years old it is a facelifted model? The facelift Tiguan doesn’t have any under floor storage, and the boot floor is not level with the seats when folded down, the the HS boot is more user friendly I’d say. There are some things which VW is excellent at, like the infotainment system, ease of use and fuel efficiency. The HS though is great for families offering all of that space for such a reasonable cost.
Wow Paul calm down! Olivia works at MG, I noticed your other comment surrounding my age. Believe it or not there are young adults in the workplace! Please be careful with what you say about others, especially whilst hiding behind a blank profile!
What colour do you think suits the updated HS best? Let me know ⬇️
Defo Holborn Blue - especially as it’s free too ❤

I've ordered mine in Holborn blue

Good review but no mention of the 7 year warranty
I thought the hs trophy had a "super sport" button on the steering wheel?
Will these have sequential lights in the updated 73 plate? I’ve ordered one and can’t find out

They removed the power tailgate?!?? noooooo
