      Hi Ricardo,
      It's all a matter of flawless editing skills and a perfectly tuned router.
      Nicely spotted though.

    I really think that you is more than a luthier/craftsmen, is a amazing teacher. May I ask you to do a video showing your setup of shooting and editing at some point in time, the quality is excelent, you do it by yourself?

      Hi Adrien,
      Thank you very much for your support and kind words.
      Yes I do it all video recording and editing, mixing etc. myself.
      I don't know if I will do a video on my setup and process but I might show it in a Q&A/FAQ video.

      Hey RocketKal,
      Thank you very much!
      I think I might have some bad luck with the UA-cam algorithm.
      I just have to keep making videos and hope for the best.

    Hey Daniel! Thank you for all the great videos! Love watching and listening. Great work! But let me ask one question - and I don´t mean it rude - but aren´t you afraid of getting hurt when routing necks witch bare hands? Routers are mean tools :D

    • @UnquendorGuitars
      @UnquendorGuitars  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Optonaut,
      Thank you very much for the compliment and your good question.
      No I'm not really afraid of getting hurt by my router, I have a deep respect for it though.
      I've explained this in some other videos. I'm always aware of where I place my hands in regards to the router bit so when something goes 'wrong' I know my hands won't accidentally get caught by the router.
      Using your bare hands instead of gloves or holders gives you a much better feeling of what you and the tool are doing.
      Also it is very, very, very dangerous to use gloves when using any rotary tool. Gloves tend to get caught by rotary tools when you don't even realize it and they will drag your fingers into the tool in such a way you cant pull them back.
      This why here in the Netherlands it is prohibited to use gloves in woodworking by the Health and safety department.
      There are some very interesting and scary videos on this topic out on UA-cam.

      @@UnquendorGuitars thank you for your answer :) yeah for shure, no gloves! :D I was thinking of some kind of holding device... didn´t find the right words. Stay safe and keep up the good work! cheers from Düsseldorf, Germany!

    Great video! What are your thoughts on using carbon rods either side of the truss rod for extra stability??

    • @UnquendorGuitars
      @UnquendorGuitars  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Martin,
      Good question.
      I’ve used carbon rods in a couple of my first necks when I wasn’t sure on how thin I could make my necks and of my neck blanks.
      Now that I only use quarter sawn multi laminated neck blank I don’t really need them anymore.
      They do provide extra stiffness but personally I didn’t like how they acted during setup. Adjusting the trussrod takes a lot more care for example.

  • @markselkirk9033
    @markselkirk9033 3 роки тому +1

    I don't understand... Why do you wrap the necks in masking tape after they're glued and dried? Surely that can't add stability.... What's up?

    • @UnquendorGuitars
      @UnquendorGuitars  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Old Dude,
      I think you're referring to the part were I re-attach an off cut to one side of the neck with masking tape.
      I do this to help me keep the center line of the neck somewhat parallel to the table of the bandsaw when cutting the headstock angle. It's not 100% accurate but its close enough and much more reliable than doing it freehand.

    How is building two at a time going? Manageable?

    • @UnquendorGuitars
      @UnquendorGuitars  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Mr Waffles,
      It's manageable and really time efficient, but it has its own challenges.
      Because I'm used to building only one at the time I sometimes forget to 'reset' the fences and depth stops on my tools when switching between necks. Most of the time I realize this in time, but.... You'll see..

    How much would a neck like that cost me for you to build and ship out to Alabama USA?

    • @UnquendorGuitars
      @UnquendorGuitars  3 роки тому

      Hi Christopher,
      I'm very sorry but I don't make and ship separate guitar parts at the moment.
      I have been thinking about doing this but have decided to not to.
      As you know my necks are all handmade to go with a specific guitar and is tailored to the body.
      It is to tricky (for me) to make a neck for a body I don't know the details of. And I don't want the customer to be disappointed or having to do work on the neck themselves to get it to fit the body.
      This might change in the future though.
      Keep watching my videos and you should be able to make your own. And if you have any questions just let me know.

      Hi Richard,
      No, I still do the 6 in-line for the Nessa models.
      The Sonea models will have the 4x2 headstock.
