pretty crazy they got an actual jedi to do the speedrun too
What I love about this game is that there are so many routes to go and choose from. In this speedrun there are many places I don't even recognize at all. Playing this as a kid back in the day, without any tips from the internet like we have today, this was the most difficult game I played. Im not even sure if I got to complete it
I love that the speedrunner explains the methods to his madness. It makes for a much more entertaining watch than most speedruns I've watched.
god damn this game is so good, the level design is impeccable, the gameplay so juicy and fluid
YES YES YESSSSS. Kyle Katarn at his finest and LIVE ACTION CUTSCENES! This is my favorite Dark Froces/Jedi Knight game
I am definitely not an fps guy. But Jedi Knight I and II are the exceptions to the rule: these games are brilliant in gameplay, level design and character progression. And it's not just nostalgia: I actually replayed them 2 years ago.
Damn... Kyle Katarn, Revan, The Exile... Truely a Star Wars golden age for video games.
replaying now... but i beat level 5 in like 2 hours was so confused where to go and he just does it in 2 minutes...
@@TheitaniofRome I'm also stuck, so I came to find a speedrun of the game. Turns out he just used a thermal detonator to boost jump over the bit where I'm stuck.
That was before the dark times. Before Disney.
False.
Amazing run, favourite SW game growing up
My first ever video game, played at age 7. Crazy to see it torn to shreds in half an hour, twenty-one years later.
It took me about that long to get through the first level, so bravo, sir!
This is truly a speed run! I remember playing this as a kid and loving every damn second of it!
He makes it look like he's playing Sonic the Hedgehog
I love the commentary, really insightful. Its especially awesome that there are 2 other speedrunners who can explain what he's doing while its going. I love watching an expert at work!
Man this is one of the most fun to watch speedrun games I've seen yet. Awesome job, ysalamiri!
I loved the Jedi Knight game series. Still fun to play even today. All 5 of them!
such an awesome game, my childhood right there! so happy to see people still enjoys it!
ah the memories when I felt powerfull with a 3dfx Voodoo card and a Pentium 3 MMx
Voodoo. The uber card back in da days :P
Why hasn't anyone been talking about this run? It's great!
I absolutely loved this game as a kid even if it was pretty difficult at times. I even had the patience to go through it several times because my CD had a funky problem that corrupted the saves at random at the Gorc and Pic fight.
Watching the runner do all sorts of tricks and blazing through this game is absolutely amazing.
Dude, my brain hurts. This speed is insane. I didn't know you could _go_ that fast in this game.
Didn't expect this game to be so quick and fun to watch!
I guess the devs wanted to stay true to the force. That's why colliding to a wall in high speed damages you.
that last BZZZT during the Jerec intro was hilarious
This was a real speed run.
Yeah Jonathan!!! This brought back a lot of memories!
Holy Shit this is BLAST PROCESSING!
Man. I really love the Dark Forces series. Kyle Katarn is a memetic badass without having a bad attitude.
I really like the megastructure level design on some of those maps.
rixille Agreed. I played this game when i was 6 or 7 when it came out. Got stuck on some of these levels for months. The mega maps always had me coming back to explore them
The most entertaining run I've ever watched mostly due to the sheer speed the game is played. Also, this is one of the three PC games I own physically, the other two being Half-Life 1 and 2, what else could it be? :)
That maw takedown was hilarious
great run!
having a hard time remembering these levels at this running speed lol
this is awesome
Nostalgia run
kyle katarn the hedgehog
Is this on Normal or Hard? I'm pretty sure the elevators move faster on hard
That was dope, my favorite in the JK series
This is insane! Can't even imagine the amount of time he had to waste to achieve this level of awesomeness/perfection, and the way he's using the mouse...wow. Jedi Academy had shitty mouse controls from 90s (damn you quake engine) with a addition of moonwalk gravity movement, but this is just crazy. I can't even speedrun Academy properly, goddamn mouse doesn't make it easier for me, I guess trying Dark Forces 2 is pointless, hehe. The reaction time, the positioning of PC...fucking hell. The scariest part is not when a speedruner can finish a game by using various glitches cutting the game's runtime by 95% but when he does that by just being so damn good at it.
I feel like a guy calling himself Ysalamiri should play without using any force powers at all. Ah well, that was a great run regardless.
He cant use the force the Ysalamiris are blocking the Force
Outstanding- respect
brings back memories
WHAT. Where was Sariss? He fought Yun an additional time instead?
Think he beat the entire game in the time it took me to beat two levels when I played this as a kid!
Raised on Massassi Forums.
Now I need a speedrun of Jedi Outcast at GDQ next year and the set will be complete.
Threre was one last year! ua-cam.com/video/JLrDS-3Qs-4/v-deo.html
One thing I love about speedrunning is that it makes me remember that I don't have to kill everyone to get to the end of the level... Every game I play I feel like I have to just look at someone in the eyes kill them and move on to the very next person and let them meet the same fate as their... co worker?
Shout outs to the MSN Gaming Zone
Love SW runs!
21:40 I DIDN'T KNOW YOU COULD DO THAT!
ROFL!
bzzt ........ bzzzt. ...... bzzt ...... bzzt
I should play this game
not sure this is sonic game or star wars game
How the hell does he get his game client to run so smoooooooooooth???????
Very hard boss fights 😂
My record is 0.25 seconds. I was able to achieve this time by exploiting an amazing shortcut that I just discovered. Apparently this shortcut has been sitting in plain sight for years, but all the speed runners missed it, until now! What you do is, on the main menu, you click the word "Credits" at the bottom of the screen and it bypasses ALL the levels and takes you directly to the ending of the game! You can keep your TD jumps and blowing your corpse through to the end of levels, I figured out how to skip the whole game!
Beat that!
I'm not sure what you mean. The whole point of a speedrun is to get to the end of the game as quickly as possible, by any means necessary, bypassing as much of the game as you can in the process. I bypassed the entire game and went directly from the main menu to the ending. If exploiting bugs to skip entire levels counts, then surely clicking the button that takes you directly to the credits is a valid method.
By that definition, you have impressed no one
+John Rich - Why is it valid for a speed runner to use glitches to skip entire levels, but it's not OK to just skip the entire game and go directly to the credits? When you beat the game the credits play, so I used the quickest method possible and went directly to the end.
Consider this; If there was a bug in a game that let you instantly complete any level by jumping and spinning at the same time, speed runners would just start each level, jump, spin and go on to the next one where they'd do the same thing over and over until they reached the end of the game. Speed runners play as little of the game as they can in order to get to the end of the level. If there's a glitch that will let them skip ahead 2-3 levels they'll use it.
So if they don't even have to play the levels, why bother to play any of the game?
you moron
Sure, come to GDQ and show us how amazing that is.
Help me! When I was a kid we played some game and there was level with train and player needs to jump or crouch. My friend's father said that it was star wars game. Plz help me find it!!
