Everyone's freaking out about the Spanish accent and the high note, but can we just take a minute to realize what this song is about and how much emotion this captures? I really feel like this song was about Gerard's addictions, and how he kept wanting to quit but he was battling with trying to control himself. It's written as if it's about a girl, and for the longest time I thought it was, but when you think about it and really listen to it, you can hear his pain and how so badly he wants to quit and be free from his addiction, but he doesn't want to let go of the feeling the drugs and alcohol give him. I think the girl In the song represents his addiction, and how she doesn't want him to quit, and he's always giving into her in the song. It's such a sad song, to think about being in that state of utter depression and feeling like you have no control, and I think this song captures that feeling perfectly.
i was looking for some song meanings, found so many spanish accent commentarys.. so sad.. but well I always think this is about a woman, but the addiction meaning would fit really well, too!
most mcr songs were written in metaphor. you really have to think to get the real meaning
I just had this realization now, that there is a reason they're called My Chemical Romance. Chemical could refer to drugs/alcohol, Romance would be the relationship with their addiction, and how it affects them
I love how each song has a meaning itself (like what you said about drugs) and another for the album (being part of the story of the guy that looses his gf and needs to kill people so he can be with her). It’s wonderful how meaningful their lyrics are, and not just in this album 🖤

Some people are saying "bella muerte" is Italian but it's Spanish. "Bella morte" is Italian for "beautiful death". In the CD booklet the it's written "muerte", therefore the point is that Gerard pronounces it wrong (which is understandable since I guess he doesn't speak Spanish) xD in the end it sounds ~Italianish~ indeed but its Spanish.

"Bella" (It means "beautiful" in both languages) Is an italian and spanish word but it has different pronunciations in the two languages.
Gerard pronuncies that word like in italian so "bella"in this case is an italian word.
Meanwhile we have the other word "muerte" (it means "death") this is definitely an spanish word because in italian the word is "morte".

I know, the first time I heard this I literally had a spasm
Back in the early 2000s i used to go to the mall while drinking all day (it was an incredibly low, suffocatingly sad time in my life bc of a cpl major losses i was dealing with - dealing poorly & unhealthily, but dealing with them nonetheless) I randomly bought their first album, "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love" and the cpl friends I did have at that time called me 'emo' and 'fag' for listening to MCR (when I didn't even know s**t about them at the time, it was a lonely, drunken purchase), but then, 3 Cheers hit the shelves and I bought it bc I loved their first effort so much and those same friends were showing each other certain songs and saying things like, "this song is actually not that bad, listen to this guitar part" and things like that while I rolled my eyes to myself and every album after that these guys act as if they always had respect for them or have listened since day 1. Same exact thing happened with Coheed&Cambria's 'Second Stage Turbine Blade', their 1st full length album. I was again called an 'emo faggot' and the like bc I had purchased and listened to it unabashedly no matter who was around. FF another year down the road (approximately 2004) and In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3 their send full length album, hit shelves. I bought it without previewing it or knowing a thing about it - then these same cats who love to talk s**t, start acting as if they found this band on their own and really dig this song or that song. And the funniest part to me is the fact that after a cpl more albums hit they had changed their sound, become extremely mainstream, and I started to lose the interest I once had but these savage cats who persecuted me about the band LOVED their new sound and passionately carried the C&C torch from there on, LoL. I haven't listened to a C&C album fully since Afterman: Ascension - which I was not a fan of. I still get texts from these guys informing me when they're going to a show or when an album has dropped, to which I thank them and go on about my day bc C&C haven't been relevant to me since No World For Tomorrow or Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV: Vol. 1 From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness (...yeah, I know). Those 2 were the last decent albums they put out imo. Damn this comment is pages by now, lol. Anyway, that's my Monday morning story that's choppy and random and I apologize if it put ppl to sleep.
