I saw The Hu recently in concert, and it was absolutely incredible. When they did Wolf Totem, the hall all chanting "Hu" was very powerful. They also did "Black Thunder", and man is it powerful. Seven guys all throat singing together in perfect pitch just washed over the room. If you want to do "Black Thunder", it will have a second part coming out in a few days. Might be a good one to do both parts in one reaction. Another one I really enjoy is their acoustic performance of "Shireg, Shireg". It's a lullaby and gives you a complete different side to these wonderful gentlemen. ua-cam.com/video/8O7mJwuSyVA/v-deo.html
Actually Shireg Shireg isn’t a lullaby, it’s about a father and mother saying goodbye to their son who’s riding off to join “The Horde”, and the advice they give him. It’s my 2nd favorite song they do, it brings back memories of when I joined the Army right after high school, my Mom saying goodbye to me and giving advice the day I was leaving for Basic Training.
The Hu is awesome, fast became one of my all time favorite bands, and just so you know….alot of their songs have Closed Captions so you can understand what they’re singing 😉 This song (The Wolf Totem) is actually part of a 12th Century Golden Horde (aka Mongolian Horde) War Chant they put to music.
The diversity of Epica is phenomenal. It depends on how harsh you want to start your journey 😂. I would recommand "Beyond the Matrix" live from Paris or "Unchain Utopia" from the Omega Alive. But because you love emotional storytelling it must be "Skeleton Key". If you want to discover the harsh Death Metal Elements of Epica... "Consign to Oblivion" live from Paris. 😂
Loved this duet of videos. Lzzy Hale did a collab with The Hu : Song of Women.... if that one doesn't being a tear, nothing will. Love all the channels. I don't know how you keep content coming !!
Hello once again!! If you enjoyed this one with Simone Simons of Epica and Floor Jansen of Nightwish together please check this other one that they did together as well. Just as amazing as Santa Terra. "Epica - Stabat Mater Dolorosa feat Floor Jansen LIVE" ua-cam.com/video/QqdvFPBGN0c/v-deo.html
First time viewer here, that was great!! love your genuine reaction. I got to see The Hu live on their first American tour in Columbus. Ohio...those guys are fantastic. They seem like a great bunch of guys...even though they could barely speak a lick of english, lol they didn't need it to have the crowd in the palm of their hands! they originally were gonna be playing a tiny venue called "The Basement" but immediately sold out and had to move to a bigger venue, The Newport Music Hall. It was great! Epica and Nightwish are fantastic as well obviously...i think Nightwish has become my fav of all time even though i only discovered them in 2020!
@@deadgrlsuperstar so um, I just went to your channel and searched "Nightwish" and just realized i've watched just about all of your nightwish reactions.....lol. the new eye makup must have thrown me? oh dear lord, i watch too many nightwish videos...i must have been, how should i say...blazed out of my skull?? haha. subscribed!
Liked Hu the first time I heard them. This is the first time I've heard Epica. Having been a fan of 70's prog rock, this is right up my alley (see Renaissance and Annie Haslam).
i never knew i needed heavy metal mongolian throat singing in my life but apparently i did when i found their music a few years ago. i now see them whenever they play within a few hundred miles of me. i've got tickets for october and can't wait. the energy they bring is amazing. the Hu does a collaboration with Jacoby Shaddix from papa roach on this song that is fantastic. they also released a song and video with Lzzy Hale called Song of Women that is truly beautiful, my personal favorite is Yuve Yuve Yu, it's kinda bluesy which is cool
Quite a fun reaction. These are both amazing bands. For Epica, most people do Consign to Oblivion live in Paris or Beyond the Matrix Live. I would highly recommend Kingdom of Heaven Part 3 from the Omega Alive virtual concert for probably their best work yet.
I just love it. The throat singing, traditional instruments, and a people who still have that Epic Warrior Spirit inside them. No wonder they took over almost all of Asia & Europe. Love that collab with Epica & Floor. So great!
Great reaction. Hu is great - the combination of the throat singing harmonics, and those amazing instruments. Such a combination of the traditional and the absolutely epic. This performance from Epica is wonderful - I don't know how I had not seen it before. Thank you for sharing it with us!
Great reaction, as usual! With The Hu, they only have one album (until the 2nd when the new one drops) and wait until after the 19th of this month to watch Black Thunder because that's when part two comes out. And you talk about exceeding expectation, wait until you get a load of Black Thunder. EPIC!
Sancta Terra is beautiful, but I'll say that it's not the most representative of their typical sound(edit: ok its pretty close, i was thinking stabat minor), but their norm is amazing as well
There is a lot of story behind Simone Simons and Floor Jansen. ‘After Forever’ was Floor's first band, the guitarist was Mark Jansen (no family of Floor). His girlfriend in those days was Simone. In 2002 Mark left ‘After Forever’ and he formed his own band ‘Sahara Dust’ , shortly after Simone replaced the first singer. The band name changed to "Epica". The relationship between Mark and Simone died down and Simone found a new boyfriend (now husband) Oliver Palotai, the keyboardist from ‘Kamelot’. Simone and Mark still work together and have a solid friendship.
Your face when The Hu kicked it off🤣🤣Dont worry its not making fun of laughing, but i recognize the feeling from my first time watching that video. I loved them from the first second! And i feel the same time everytime i see Floor,i have seen alot of wonderful looking females,i have heard some brilliant vocalists. But Floor just has this magical grip on me,i cant fully explain it. She blows me away with her beauty,as well as her personality,AAAAND vocally. Floor & Simone has been besties for years and years,Nightwish and Epica fans simply call them Wonderwoman & Poison Ivy because of theyr beauty. (We all know they would have fought if they really were superhero and villain lol) There is an old gem of Epica thats called EPICA - Never Enough. The channel HDFactory has a really high definition and resolution remastered upload of that video wich i do recommend, abit difficult to find but search for: EPICA - Never Enough HQ HD 4K. Its a different side of EPICA,wich has people think of bands like Evanescence. Its my favourite song by them.
Floor and Simone have been friends for a long time, so they were having a lot of fun onstage. There's another connection with Epica: the keyboardist, who is one of their founding members, is Mark Jansen (no relation). He was in Floor's first band After Forever many years ago. You can hear him call out Floor's name at the end. I knew you'd love this one! Great reaction to both songs! *Edit* Mark is the guitarist, not keyboards. Got them confused.
Love both the songs, and yes, Floor and Simone are great together. The latest video and band I have discovered is Heilung and their new song Anoana ua-cam.com/video/SVbc_Fwbt50/v-deo.html Make sure you turn the volume up.
The Hu have done a collaborative version of this with Jacoby Shaddix from Papa Roach and it is EPIC! ua-cam.com/video/KyfpjGs859E/v-deo.html&ab_channel=BetterNoiseMusic
With the Hu video there were English captions available the translation shows the song is a gentle reminder that they are still the descendants of Ghengis Khan and if you cross them they will destroy you.
Epica are a great band and Simone is a good singer who compliments the growling vocals of Mark Jansen , no relation but was in Floor's previous band After Forever. This was Epica's tenth anniversary concert so very special with orchestra and choir. Floor was the icing on the cake.
bi panic xD hahaha seriously though my heart melts seeing their chemistry on stage. Great reaction to two great bands! And I'm looking forward to seeing more Epica on your channel. I only know a couple of their songs so I'm sure I'll be getting exposure to new stuff along with you. Dig your makeup btw! 💚💚
Ohhhhhh yessss I was so happy to see you having an Epica-Reaction! Wooohoo :D They don't have their name just for fun, there are very few songs that won't feel epic and you may have a huge list of Songs to "have to" listen to already xD Some really make feel run over by a truck lol. I would loooove to see you ran over by "Consign to oblivion" - but if you should go for this, make sure to get to the live version at "Zenith" (france) as for the great audio-quality. Thanks for your always honest and very emotional reactions, I loooove seeing yours! :D EDIT - Forgot to mention: Mind their lyrics ... Epica is deeeeep ;)

Hey Ashley, so you like the Hu - that’s great because they are soooo original and absolutely kick a55! Oh and Epica, as soon as I discovered what you were going to react to I knew there would be tears! Floor and Simone were and still are very good friends, on this occasion Floor came in to help because Simone was about 3 months pregnant and finding some of the vocals difficult. The best track of both of them together is Stabat Mater Delarosa, it’s a classical song that absolutely had the audience spellbound! I foresee tears when you react to that one!
Hi there--New subscriber here. I'd like to suggest "Winner" and Floor's version of "Shallow" from Beste Zangers. I know you've done a couple from that show, but I don't think you've done these. Also, she did a number of covers on her own while she was stuck at home during the pandemic like the rest of us. She did a phenomenal job of "Let it Go" (yes, the Disney song). Just some suggestions. Great reaction!
"Ohhh, bi panic" 🤣 for more Epica - check out The Skeleton Key (omega alive performance) My symphonic metal recommendation for you: a band called Ad Infinitum! Check out the song Unstoppable, I think you'd love it ua-cam.com/video/POwK89M7PH8/v-deo.html

Hi Ashley 🙂. This is not the only song Floor sang with Simone & Epica, I think you will want to watch "Stabat Mater Dolorosa". Love that shirt because I collect skeleton figures. Did you match the shirt with your hair & makeup or the hair & makeup with the shirt?
I definitely want more of the two together!! and to be honest, the makeup came first and the shirt came second, the lights were an attempt to match the whole green theme but the Epica video one upped me!
Simone was about 6 months pregnant at the time, also they were roommates in school. Another fun fact is that the guitarist Mark Jansen (no relation) was in After Forever with Floor.

I’ve talked to you about Plush. Just keep in mind that when you listen to them. (Hate, Will Not Win, or Better Off Alone) the lyrics are of a girl (Moriah the lead singer) who must have really been hurt bad by someone.
Wolf Totem can be summed up pretty well with the phrase... "You want some? Come get some!"
The last song you hear before the Golden Horde flattens your village....
I saw The Hu recently in concert, and it was absolutely incredible. When they did Wolf Totem, the hall all chanting "Hu" was very powerful. They also did "Black Thunder", and man is it powerful.
