    I was wondering how to make this work one cable. I have had my IC-7300 for 5 days works like a charm.
    Thank you for doing this!

      Hi Asdrubal,
      Thank you so much for commenting, I appreciate it.
      I think the 7300 is the best. It changed Ham radio for us guys who like the knobs and like working digital modes. It's great fun to learn and use.
      Congrats and thank you again, best 73 - Rich, K0PIR.us

    After seeing your video, I am going to download N1MM.
    I really like the 7300 for digital but the screen is just too small, and the IC-7610 is just not in the cards right now.
    Thank you and I do follow your training and site.

    Thanks so much for your videos. They have been very helpful. I have been trying for days to get MMTTY to do FSK while using a rig control program (WIN4ICOM) which I really like.
    Like the N1MM logger, the rig control program needs to communicate with the radio at 115200 baud. For the life of me I have not been able to get the computer to control the radio's FSK keying. I can get it to transmit but no FSK! Have you done an in depth video of exactly how to set up MMTTY for FSK use?
    Thanks es 73, John WR0J, Kansas City, Mo.

      Hello and thank you for commenting here and thank you for watching my videos. When I get home I'm going to get that program and start doing videos on it. If you are using the Icom 7300 you'll need to use either twocables or something like virtual serial ports emulator. You'll need that extra port for FSK keying. Have a look at this page it may help www.k0pir.us/icom-7300-rtty-fsk-mmtty/ best 73 from Tucson Arizona!

      Well..... Around 4 AM this morning I finally figured it out. I will keep this as short as I can but if you need more details, let me know.
      I am using the "remote" port on the radio to interface to other programs for CI-V rig control and that is working fine.
      The WIN4ICOM program has a mapping function that (Using the com0com free utility) will map the Icom USB port to a max of six other ports.The problem is that WIN4ICOM doesn't pass the RS-232 flow control signals to these mapped ports. Therein lies the problem! If the external program that you are trying to use needs these signals as MMTTY does, we are out of luck. SOOOO... You are right, I installed 'VIRTUAL SERIAL PORT ELIMINATOR' which DOES pass the control signals and created a Splitter device that connects to my ICOM USB port. This fans out to several virtual ports for me to use as needed including the WIN4ICOM app.. I went ahead and purchased it for the $25.00 which, in my opinion, was a bargain. Now I have it configured to run at startup and all is good. MMTTY took less that five minutes to configure and get running with FSK. For anyone reading this and asking "Why not just use AFSK?". Several reasons... The main one is that you can't use the RTTY filters if not in RTTY mode on the rig.
      Looking forward to more of your videos on the 7300. GREAT job and thank you again.

    You state in your video, you will be using the USB cable for the FSK portion. What cable are you using for this video? There is a USB connector on the back of the 7300 and a Data phono plug connector that I understand you will use for the FSK because you are already using the USB for the logger. The issue I am having, is getting my driver to load correctly. My com port shows the yellow caution all the time, no matter how many times I uninstall, shut down, reboot, install, shutdown, reboot up and the problem still exist. I download the driver from the ICOM website too. Any advise would be helpful...

      Joe Chmelik hi and thank you for commenting here. In this video I use the USB cable and it plugs into the USB port on the rear of the radio. The remote port, the one that you were referring to, on the back of the radio is used with a CI-V cable.
      In this video the way that I am using N1MM logger with the USB cable I will not be able to do FSK. To do FSK will require a virtual serial port emulator. I have used VSPE and have a video on it.
      Getting back to the CI-V cable, normally I use the CI-V cable for rig control and the USB cable for FSK keying. We don’t get the N1MM spectrum scope doing it this way, so there is that trade off.
      Have you tried a different USB cable and a different physical USB port on you computer? I had a USB cable at one time that I could not get to work. Has your USB connection ever worked? I have had two people recently tell me their USB port on the radio went out and it could have been from an electrical surge or storm that caused it. You can send me an email, I’m good on QRZ.com. 73!

      @@HamRadioAdventures I've tried several combinations to get the two cable scenario to work WITH the N1MM Waterfall running. It seems the N1MM Waterfall 115,200 Baud rate requirement is the hurdle that can not be resolved with the two cable scenario. The only way I've found to get MMTTY, for FSK RTTY, and the Waterfall running is to use VSPE. Have you found a combination that works for two cable operation AND the N1MM Waterfall; to avoid the VSPE software solution ?

    • @HamRadioAdventures
      @HamRadioAdventures  3 роки тому +1

      @@cache4pat Hi Patrick, no that the only way, using VSPE. If you have the Icom 7610 it is a bit easier. I set mine up using the CI-V cable for rig control and the USB cable for keying. I don't get the spectrum display, but that okay I use the scope on the radio, not as good if you are searching and pouncing, but okay. Thanks and good DX! 73 de K0PIR

    Is there any way to use the Spectrum Scope when using the two cable (CI-V and USB)?

    • @HamRadioAdventures
      @HamRadioAdventures  6 років тому +1

      Mel Ming Hi and nice to hear from you thank you for commenting. No, the USB cable needs to be used for rig control if you want the Spectrum monitor in N1MM. I normally don't use the Spectrum monitor in N1MM in RTTY contest. I choose to use the one on the radio. Thank you again and hope to hear you on the air. 73 Rich, K0PIR.US

    Could you also layer in WSJT-X with N1MM with N1MM calling WSJT-X? I learned how to do this recently and can’t seem to key up via WSJT-X when N1MM is handling the CI-V control. I have a funny feeling I need a second cable to key the radio but not entirely sure yet.

    Should I use this or hdsdr ? I use ssb mostly. I was trying to find your video of you actually installing the ex sdr to the rig but can’t seem to find it. I have poor eyes and I need a larger screen. It appears that the hdsdr has lower latency? Not sure on what sdr to purchase.

      Hi and thanks for coming by. Using the N1MM Spectrum Monitor is the easiest way to get it going. I also like that when using a cluster N1MM will display the calls in the spectrum monitor.
      This is on adding the RX7300: www.k0pir.us/installing-inrad-rx7300/ and then of course you would need to add an external sdr and then load the drivers and get HDSDR going.
      Some other paid software that I hear is very nice is ua-cam.com/video/mVVm5KambB0/v-deo.html
      Lots of good things are being said about that software. I have not tried it yet.

      Thanks for commenting here. It could be RTS either in the radio or in your software. If your radio is setup like mine, check N1MM Config>Configure Ports>Hardware. Click on the Set button next to your Port and Radio. See if RTS 9pin 7) is on. Mine is set to Always Off. If that doesn't do it you can probably turn it off in the radio. Menu>Set Connectors>USB SEND/Keying. Put USB SEND to Off. See if either of those will do it for you. 73!
