I am one of the old timers that pulled a vacuum thru 1/4 hoses and a manifold. 12,22,502, and mineral oil was very forgiving. Pulled down to 28-29 inches HG and called it good.
❤️❤️❤️
Hell yeah 20-30 min max for me no problems for me 🤷🏻♂️
old timer here. started in 1981 officially. Ran calls with dad in 1973 on weekends. side jobs. Allways pull vacuums overnight here. 12 hrs min. 1 hr only if emergency. try it sometime. compressor runs a lot cooler dome & pressures are spot on. a lot quieter compressor too. can hardly hear it run.
same here. never back then did you hear anyone using nitrogen
Or micron gauge.
You are very methodical in your work, yet very quick.
Thank you for showing the work nobody but us refrigeration mechanics know exists.
You’re so comfortable and make it look so easy ! I know it’s years of experience
How about a coffee beer? I make a Pils with coffee beans that’s a Banger 😋
Back in the80 things were alot different great video just fond your channel
Welcome aboard.
Dave you don't need to take out one battery , i just unscrew the battery holder thingy a little bit while it's on until the flashing light goes out so i know it's disconnected.
I do that with the probes too because the On button petrudes too much and it accidentally turns on inside my tool bag .
Quite right, never go anywhere empty-handed
In school they taught us 500 microns and below 250 fractionates the oil.
It's interesting seeing you say you're in go mode and don't put heat block on the dryer, and yet you still flow nitrogen when brazing.
I just started as an apprentice at a refrigeration mob, and nobody cares about flowing nitro. Most recent job had 1 5/8 suction lines, pipe runs 250ft at most. Asked the boss and the guy doing all the brazing and they're like "nah its not that important, we'll just come back and change the filter dryer after they've been running for a bit."
Glad to see you do things the right way
26:42 - Hey! Where'd ya' get that striker?! That's _cool!_
I’ve had it for over 25 years
7:30 - Your gauges remind me of a ninja turtle. I don’t know which one, though.
13:20 - I used your flux trick the other day on a bench top -20C chiller. Worked beautifully. Thanks.
"It's so easy a Cave -Dave can do it." 🤣🤣
I use stay clean and it tins the connections so perfectly when you sweat it out of the fitting. I just don't get how people deal with the huge flame that comes out of a #0 or #2 tip, much respect for the tip control though. I have to use the victor mini rosebud because the flame is pretty short and I get spooked about cooking stuff behind what I'm brazing.
Great tip!
Thanks for that Flux trick Dave‼️🎯.....Used it the other day on a 5ton RTU with my Turbo torch and MC tank #5 swirl tip, and it was smooth as "Butta"‼️
🤘⚡️🤘✨✨✨
Nice work Dave.
I got same ladder that's lasted seems like forever ❤
I am just like you sir... one man show.. great job.. amazing 👏 craftsmanship 🌊🌴🤘🌴🌊
Another fine job
Great video Dave love it man great details
Thanks 🤘🤘
Check out the navac vacuum hose 1/2"-1-4" 1/2" inner diameter and it's like $50.
I just ordered the Elitec Leak Detector 300 on back order when i gwt it i hope it works well.
Great work brother!
Very very good👏👏👏👊👊👊
Good job Dave but I think you need a helper😁
Too late 😂😂✨
yep. i use a helper on changeouts to carry tools back & forth. unload & load the truck. pack it up. helps with misc stuff. pulling line sets etc.
Good work
Thanks
Excellent work ✌️ 👍
Stay-Brite 8 👍😀🍻
I’ve never tried it
never tried it either.
You may wanna; its acolytes overstate its merits but it is remarkable on cap tubes when flowing nitrogen is not ideal. Just don't use it on compressor discharge outlets.
I’m just an apprentice but I was taught that when pulling vacuum, the micron gauge is supposed to be the liquid line, furthest away from the vacuum pump but yet yours is on the pump itself? (I just want to learn)
I when I was an apprentice 1987 the old timers put the pump on for lunch 30 minutes max.
do you ever offer to clean up the abandoned units all over the roof for a price , that place was a mess
love the Freon tank under the one unit at 46:02
Nice work Dave!! I love that torch tip. Where I can get one or did you fab that?
I bent it
Don’t forget about the time change tomorrow.
What exactly is the flux trick
@@captainmigs1655 put the flux on joints you want to sweat out.
what is the purposes of the 3 pump down cycles that when you 1st turn unit back on for?
Pump out any liquid that might migrate into the compressor
@@NorCal-refrigeration thank you sir, i was confused the other times, thought i had a bad low pressure control or leaking compressor reed valve
My 552i doesn’t have a parasitic drain, but one of my 549i’s does… do you find that sometimes your 552i will take ages to come back up in pressure after removing from the system?
I’ll check that out
I don't think it's possible to sweat in a dryer without burning the paint. at least not without them having 3 inch long stubs and using heat blocker.
all dryers should be made that way and all equipment should be sized for them to fit without trimming down(just a dreamer.....)
What’s the price for something like this out in your area? Our prices have gone up here in the Midwest significantly, I’m sure you guys have it even worse.
It’s out of control
Don't see many condenser coil only changeouts...
Probably more cameltoe distractions than condenser onlies!
@@davejohnsonnola1536 yep
Sick. So you got a daytime job then you do this on the weekends? Lol what you got double trouble tool bags or what 😂🎉 fancy 😅
Weekends. This is daily after working 8. And weekends 🤘✨🤘⚡️⚡️
Grab a cup of coffee
Thank you 🤘🤘🤘
How long have you had those elitechs?
Over a year.
I remember the original video of you installing that unit
I see you are still using the Eli tech DMG-4B been using mine for 2 year holding up good love them gauges
There not bad
Good video ! Buy yourself a Milwaukee m12 ratchet. i did. just for doing Condenser Fan Shrouds.
Q the Turtle & Berry the herman ! 😂
I’m always looking 👀 for more m12 tools. I get the 3/8” impact too for changing tires.
Did you get the extended version 3/8 “?
@@NorCal-refrigeration no. just regular version. 3/8"
