I've tried some of their titles since their relaunch and it's beautifully refreshing to play stuff that has this old school game design feel to it. Nothing feels overly padded out to kill time for the sake of killing time and they aren't trying to make games that are services that keep you hooked with only the ideal of draining your wallet dry via locking off sections of the game. I highly recommend Highfleet, which I think was covered by Nook at one point?
Wow! I grew up playing Avalon Hill board games--mostly the WWII ones. NEVER thought to see you play such a game! I had seen this pop-up the other day, and wasn't sure, but just this little tease made it go on the wishlist!
Wait until your grandchildren hear you were unfit for command! You were unwilling to send your soldiers into the breach of certain death and now we are all going to pay. Back to Logistics with you!
LOL, I played this scenario and absolutely destroyed the Germans. You have to capture all three buildings in the first 3 turns (the 30 victory points in each tick down by 10 each turn). Place a bazooka in the woods just over the bridge and the Pz IV doesn't know what to do. It just kept driving back and forth on the road, and the AI sent german squads down the road to support, and the Americans just mauled them. Same with the German reinforcements that come in on the side. I had 2 platoons already in place just waiting for entry. I don't think I lost one American squad.
Each unit in the game represents one squad, roughly 10-12 men.. These can be reduced to half squads. Other counters represent officers/snipers/heros, vehicles, anti-tank guns, gun or tank crews, and various heavier weapons from light machine guns to 81mm mortars. Each hex represents about 40 meters.
A spiritual successor to Steel Panthers is my most anticipated game. Shrapnel Games has done an astonishing job of keeping SP alive on modern systems and Slitherine / 2by3 games announced they wanted to take on such a project "Steel Tigers" but it has been years and the project has been delayed. As far as I can make out they want to do it right and are waiting for whatever stars to align which would allow such "right" conditions. But it has been several years of inaction so hopes are dim but hope remains...
It will come. The original Squad Leader series only had three factions. There's a lot of development, just for the British vehicles. In the original game, Piats, Vickers, Indian Gurka's, all variations of Churchill's, Matilta's, all were included in the third gamette. The British are definitely coming. 😀
Microprose is still around? Wow.
Truly some of the OG's. I PRAY they re-make covert action
My thoughts, exactly.
They kind of weren't but now they are, with a lot of projects under their wings!

Sort of, they were dead for quite a while and got revived by new ownership a couple years ago.

Wait... MICROPROSE?!
MICROPROSE.
I thought the same thing when I saw that name. Turns out they're the publisher.
They have a few titles published recently or on the way.
This looks super fun.

Hey, may I know what the scale of each hex of unit is? Is it a platoon?

@@nuclearrabbit1 thanks friend!
@W W No worries! It's a fun game. Easy to play, but really difficult to master.
Reminds me a lot of "Steel Panthers".

No England, Commonwealth, etc.? No thanks ;)
That will likely be part of a DLC.
