Hey, new to the channel. I am checking out every channel with 2001-2005 Lexus IS300 info... I just purchased a 2004 IS300 Sport Design II Automatic with 63000KM on it. One woman driver for 16 years she traded it into the Lexus dealership for the 2021 IS! Such an amazing find! Can't wait to do some work on it and eventually boost. Cheers!
If it’s a squeak, it could be the harmonic balancer. The 2jz is well known for the harmonic balancer splitting. The rubber deteriorates and I can come off at anytime. I would read up on it if you haven’t already. Usually the power steering pump would make a whine noise as you turn the wheels if the pump is going bad.
I am going to echo another commenter. I believe the ratio of automatics to manuals were basically 5-1 (5 autos to 1 manual) so the rarity is going to drive up the cost substantially. I think it would be interesting for you to talk why you went with a manual over an automatic. Maybe also offer a buyers guide as people seem to like those kinds of videos. Good luck on your channel.
I want a nice daily that drives and looks good, its between this and a 08 TL Type S for me, I feel like the 300 might be a little dated and lacking in features and obviously doesn’t have as much space as the TL but I love the looks and I had a TLS before so this would be new for me, hard choice.
In my opinion, I'd try the is300 since you already owned the TL before. Good to try something new and you won't be putting as much money down since the 300 is more affordable. Arguably more fun especially with manual! I may be biased though. Either one is good and agree the is300 is dated but one with lower milage shouldn't be bad with maintenance. Let us know what you choose!
Chris Peck well I went to see one today, that thing drives AWESOME, reminds me of the TSX I had but even nicer because rwd and it felt more planted and stiffer. Heres the deal though, it has 108k, 04, auto (im cool with that) and overall looks pretty decent but it has a small crack in the back bumper, looks like something may have happened there, it also has an engine light for what he says is a speed sensor. There is also an 03 around me, 167k, no lights, looks great in and out, no major cosmetic or mechanical issues. Both for 4k.
Kevin S you could get your own obd2 scanner and check the light yourself to see what the problem really is. If it’s anything alarming them leave it. If you’re handy you can use that to your and advantage and get it for 3ish. That’s what I would do and overall that’s a pretty good deal. Good luck!
How are the auto transmissions in the 08 TL's, the pre 00 TL's look good and are cheap where I live but I heard auto transmission problems were a huge issue with them for a few years
you can get like volkswagen cc, cause its cheap modern luxury and its really reliable and efficient with frameless doors, 4 cylinder turbocharged engine, and cope like shaped sedan. I recommend 2010 or 2009 models
I just switched my Power Steering pump with a lower mileage power steering pump. Easy 2 bolts, bongo bolt and 1 hose. Also new OEM serpentine belt was changed while I was there, but it was a challenge getting it on. I recommend buying a longer 3/8th long ratchet bar, I had to put rubber end between tensioner pulley and ps pulley while ratchet a few clicks for leverage. Remember Lexus called for Transmission fluid for their power Steering. The sound reduced and more responsive but I think the main noise is AC compressor? In the end, the new belt helped. Next is Valve cover gasket and NGK plugs! :)
ur joking? car was assembled in japan. it’s a Toyota Altezza, the guy who was part of the AE86 was like the lead engineer on the Altezza platform. the is300 came with a cast iron 2JZ in-line 6.
@juugiN&finessin not really the way i look at it the alteza is jdm but the is300 itself was manufactured for the us market while the is200 was manufactured for the European market

Welcome! and congratulations! You will love that car.
6300k kilometers?
Congratulations! And same! I happen to find a 2004 95000km Lexus is200 sportcross with factory manual and xenon for €6k also just a few months ago.
Man what a find. I’m thinking of buying a Ltuned! Any info on these. It has 100 thousand miles on it. Still should be a great car right
idk if i'll just ignore u running that stop sign in 2021

Alex Gonzalez I appreciate the suggestion! That is one thing I did not think about
@@chrispeck9941 power steering pump usually fails around 300k if you haven't replaced it before but even if it fails, it will continue running!
@@chrispeck9941. Same with timing belt, it will stay running for several 100k miles on the same belt
Supply and deman not enough supply of manual trans is300 and the demand is up so the price goes up. Also drift tax...
love that car, looking forward to buy myself an is200 in germany (xeo1)

They are more reliable than a BMW E46... but by how much?
can't speak from experience, but one of my buddies used to have an e46 and he was always working on it...
Notice how is300s make it to 200k+ miles. Bmws don't

Just like me, always fixing one thing just to move on to the next. Good luck with your next project, those shouldn't be too difficult!
Not considered jdm since this car was manufactured for the us market

We can agree to disagree
