NGK is normally good parts so I think in this case it might be a "one off" type of thing. When new parts are bad, it really throws the diagnosis off. Nice job in finding it!

Good job, Oz. Looks like your customer needs only to replace the middle coil. Denso is the preferred OEM brand, but NGK is very reputable too. Perhaps he got counterfeits which are quite common on eBay and Amazon.
I really feel like that’s the issue. Because the customer said that they were replace a couple of month ago and I e actually made a video when I had an issue with counterfeit ngk spark plugs
Current wavefrom from the ignition coil fuse would show all those together at just one shot. BTW, aftermarket coils could even damage the ECU if at all. Cheers, good one.
That would be next if the previous test wouldn’t show anything. Thanks for watching Don’t forget to sign up for the free 4 day vision training giveaway. Form to sign up in video description

Good info that IGF is supposed to be 5v. I wish service info would explain those details, it would cut down on a lot of time wasted doing our research and investigation. Also you would think that in the flow chart for that DTC, it would be outlined what the voltage levels should be measured at.
Actually after this video came out I found a part on prodemand where it showed the a wave form of IGF and it showed segments on 2 volts and you can see it capped off at 5 volts. But that took some searching Don’t forget to sign up for the free 4 day vision training giveaway. Form to sign up in video description
A while back I had a car come in with 4 brand new ignition coils that were all missing the IGF terminal in the coils. Ran like a bag of hammers 😂 Amazon junk.

@OzMechanics According to other mechanics, the battery might have enough charge to start the car but not enough to operate vital electrical parts. They always load test the battery to ensure it is not weak, then proceed with further diagnostics. Especially with newer vehicles
Hi Oz. What was the issue before customer replaced 4 coils ? You said after he did it it would start and die. Good diagnostic steps. Just wondering if symptoms were different pre/ post coil replacement.

Love your content bro. Can you point me in the right direction my 2016 ram 2500 is throwing 2 codes and won't go away- P0646, and P2509. I can't find anything related to it online was hoping for any kind of advice thanks in advance.
NGK ~ SOLD ~ their branding to at least 1 other company that manufactures crap coils. Our shop choose NGK because of their stellar reputation with spark plugs; however, NGK allowed (Sold the right) for a garbage manufacturer to produce their coil packs. We have had at least a dozen NEW NGK coil packs fail with the last 6 months. It is no exaggeration when I say over 100% failure rate for some customers. SHAME on NGK ~ Now I can't trust their spark plugs because I never know who will actually be making them next week.
I do know that Amazon sells knock off NGK products. I actually made a video where had a similar problem but it was the spark plugs and they were purchased on Amazon.
Aftermarket electronics don't have what the OEM has in theirs. Ivan made a comment one time regarding OEM electronic parts that they are designed to work with their vehicles. Aftermarket parts say on their labels, "Made to work with all vehicles." Really? Are they sure? Their electronic parts are "NOT TUNED" to a particular OEM, but rather to all vehicles in general. But that's where they fail to keep up with OEM electrical/electronic parts.
Yea I’m a big on putting OEM parts. I like doing the job once. Don’t forget to sign up for the free 4 day vision training giveaway. Form to sign up in video description
NGK is considered a trusted brand but I've seen several times now where they either caused issues out of the box or died completely in a few months. Disappointing especially since in some cases OEM is no longer available so I tended (or did) to buy NGK.
I've seen this a few times, and it was always with good brands but fake from eBay, like officially OEM Toyota for $80 for 4, lol, or in this case I'm assuming these NGKs are not legit.
That’s why I don’t take customer brought parts. Don’t take any to take a chance. But I believe this might have been a bad batch or counterfeit. Don’t forget to sign up for the free 4 day vision training giveaway. Form to sign up in video description
