Yeah the bullying and hazing sounds cruel and unusual but it made for guys to have thick skin and to settle things like men. Not like today where shoving contests are considered “life threatening” situations. I enjoy watching the Young Bucks but those spots look so fake it makes a match feel more like a live action stunt show as opposed to a professional wrestling match. Man what I would give to see the Bucks take on late 80s Steiner Brothers. Would literally be a squash match.
You have never been a part of something close knit have you? I dont say that to be insulting but I can assure in the military, certain clubs and other communities hazing is a strong part of the culture. It is meant to draw a mental and physical line between US and You, to say I endured it took it with my brothers while others failed. Granted some people take it too far but in truth this is common in many other walks of life.
If the business was still like it was in the 80s and 90s today, most of the "wrestlers" you see these days would have joined the cirque du soleil instead because they couldn't handle the hazing. Good acrobats/gymnasts, not real wrestlers though.
Id suggest that its more than likely that the current stars are just as narcissistic, probably terrible people in their own right AND are horribly untalented.
Most of todays wrestlers are better human beings but are boring and bad tv characters and most of the wrestlers before were bad human beings but great tv characters. Narcisism made for great entertainment and tv thats why the old timers were tv stars
Really? Al worked for the WWE from 1995-2008. That's 13 years with the top company in the World. He was allowed to go to ECW in 1997 where he had a World Title run against Shane Douglas and it is where he ultimately created the Head gimmick. He worked for TNA Wrestling from 2008-2017 and now owns Ohio Valley Wrestling. He also owns his own wrestling academy and has written a book.
