I guess most of the sonic stages on the Wii U Version had too many side scrollers in modern sonic stages
The fact that most of them play good with modern sonic shows how much the game in the classic levels wanted you to use the spindash
Good to see Sonic Rush is getting a remaster.
There you have it folks.If classic sonic was omitted out of generations we would have had a modern sonic game that's FUN takes you back into the past and showed you both the modern and classic versions of certain stages. It would have been on hell of blast.Aside from a few bugs and glitches here there since modern sonic wasn't programmed to be in these stages.But hey this still remains my favorite sonic game(Tied with colors).

3DS had different levels from the actual Sonic Generations. Green Hill is the only one they both have

Mar1o 640 I think modern sonic is fine in this game, but this does show that it should have just been modern sonic and the avatar in Forces. Especially considering how awful they made classic to play in that game

I'd always thought Classic Sonic was pretty damm fast in 2d.. But the Acceleration and agility modern Sonic The Hedgehog has is like Classic Super Sonic with Speed Shoes...

Back in the days when Modern Sonic felt like a step up and not a rival. Honestly they seem pretty similar in forces but different in gens. Two approaches. Both fun.

I wonder what would happen if you also gave him the spindash and lightspeed dash.
Also, making the boost less powerful but longer lasting would probably be better suited for the 2D stages than the current boost mechanism is, with their more complex platforming and shorter overall length (in terms of distance). I suppose it would be like combining Sonic Generations with Sonic Adventure.

Like--seriously! Why can't SEGA and Sonic Team just give us this gameplay style for every game in the future?! This is EXACTLY what EVRYONE wants, it's 2D, for the classic Sonic fans, but use the boost formula and it takes place in the present, for the Modern Sonic Fans
Hasn't everyone been complaining about stages not being fully 3D? I thought that was one of the reasons people consider Mortar Canyon one of the best stages in Forces.
There’s a version of this game on 3ds that has fully 2D stages for both sonic styles.

I find it funny how Modern Sonic works Better with 2-D AND 3-D more than actual classic sonic XD
But all jokes aside, this mod is fantastic! This looks like the PERFECT gameplay layout for what a Sonic The Hedgehog REBOOT! The iconic 2-D Plane, but with breath-taking graphics and gameplay!

I heard a rumour the game was not to include Classic Sonic. After they did some trial runnings with Classic moveset, they believed they should make this game with Classic Sonic. Hence they developped a story around Classic and Modern Sonic tagging together to counter Dr. Ivo Robotnik and Eggman.

It also intrigued me that Speed Highway seemed to work extremely well for Modern Sonic
This shows how much modern sonic can break classics levels. I always thought that if modern was in a classic stage he would make it a piece of cake.....clearly i underestimated the concept.
