An enviable and adorable collection. Even more when it is presented with so much love and affection. I hope someday to have some of those jewels that you treasure.
I've never "ooh'd" and "aah'd" so much in my life. What an extraordinary collection you possess! I was unsure about continuing onward in my journey of exploring and purchasing fountain pens. I feel renewed in my quest. This video contained such beauty and was inspiring, as well. Thank you so much for sharing this. ✍
Hello HJ. Quite the eclectic variety of pens. It's amazing how a hobby fuels life from our passion and grows in size to fill our endless needs. Nice collection.
With so many favourites, you must be a prolific writer. I have 20 + fountain pens and at my retired age, I have to find reason to write as I love the feel of writing with fountain pens. Nothing bears writing with a comfortable fountain pen.
Hi Hemingway! Videos of entire collections are always a delight. I’m forever keen to watch anybody doing the same as you kindly did for all of us here. Need I even say what a lovely, tasteful collection you have here? Well, you do. I quite love and covet the slim, vintage Montblanc beauties you opened with. The 149 may be so many people’s grail pen (I inherited one from my father). But those older, classic and affordable Montblancs remain very desirable and collectible pens. I won’t gush once again about the Sheaffer Legacy. I have a pair (Legacy I and a II) and I love them like I do my five older more vintage PFMs. Absolutely iconic and meant for a lifetime. I love Waterman greatly, both vintage and modern. And the truly classic Charleston is up there among my firm favorites. Your yellow one is particularly pretty and I wish it were mine. The new ‘reborn’ Esterbrook Esties are excellently made and quite splendid writers. Of my three oversized Esties, one is the same honeycomb one you own. I still don’t own a Pelikan, but I know I like the 600 line best, and your red pen here looked especially gorgeous on camera. I have very many Sailor pens. Their nibs are among my two all-time favorites, along with Aurora’s. Sailor has always been my #1 among them Big Three of Japan. Have you ever considered Edison pens. Or Franklin-Christoph? Both are excellent all-American brands that I like a lot. Again, thanks for this video. It was quite the treat to see.
Thank you so much! I appreciate it. I love those vintage MBs. I need to ink them up. They are so elegant. I have considered Edison. I want to try Narwhal too. So many pens. Thanks my friend. Wishing you all the best.
Great fun! The Mont Blanc Egyptian revival pen is so stunning. So many beautiful pens. I need a Diplomat Aero, the capping mechanism is so satisfying. You enjoy Satie.. he’s one of my favorite composers. This vid makes me want to revisit some of my vintage pens. It’s just that the filling systems can be finicky, or small. I have several skylines which need new bladders.
I never get tired of watching pen collection videos! Thanks for sharing! Glad to see you have several inexpensive pens in your collection! Mine is all over the place--lots of different brands and price points, but I am a fan of Parkers and Watermans, both modern and vintage!
Hi Hemingway. You have a superb fountain pen collection. I really like the inkwell as a piece of desk furniture. I am sure you will add more pens in the future but even if you stopped now you have some very elegant writing instruments. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you as ever for your kind comment. I appreciate that. I am overall trying to have fewer things, but as the TikTok pen guy a certain amount always seem to be coming in. Stay well and thanks for stopping by.
Awesome video to showcase a great collection. I hope my collection is somewhere close to yours one of these days. Thank you for showcasing all your pens and as always, great video.
Very sweet collection. Loved your one line reviews of each. The Cartier one looks quite stunning! Glad to hear that Esterbrooks are good writers. . Have one arriving in the mail soon 😁
What a great collection! Following you TikTok finally motivated me to start journaling. It’s just so relaxing and calming to do every day so thank you for the motivation I needed. To start my journaling I got a Jinhao 450 and have loved using fountain pens for the first time. I hope to continue my collection. Would you have any ideas for a budget friendly but nicer pen to continue my collection? Great video as always.
Thanks so much for the kind words. I am so glad that I helped inspire you. Maybe you could try a TWSBI Eco next and get the experience of a piston fill pen. Wishing you all the best.
Hi Hemmingway, another great and enjoyable video. You have great diversity in your collection. I think you'd love the older model visconti van gogh. They have 2 different sizes. I own one of each size and they are amazing, reliable pens. I actually used them during my university exams. They're also very beautiful, and not too expensive either on the second hand market or as old stock in stores!
I believe you are the first reviewer I've seen who didn't gush praise on the Pilot Falcon. That's what surprised me. Like me, you seem unenamoured of Italian pens and swirly plastic pens. That's why your overall collection seems particularly nice to me.
Thanks so much! Yes, I just am not feeling it for that pen and especially for its price. It’s expensive. I love Pilot too, so it’s not as if I am begrudging it on the basis of brand affiliation. You know, I don’t watch other fountain pen channels, except for Goulet. I really like their podcast (although I skip over the non-pen content).
Great collection ,did you see the new waterman Carene l'essence du bleu special edition? And do you have experience whit the premium nibs for the Kaweco sports ? like to hear your thoughts. Thanks for sharing your beautiful fountainpens collection
I have seen that Carene. It I haven’t used it. I’d love to. Maybe at a pen show. I have one Kaweco premium nib I believe. They gave me a bunch of them and my green one has a gold tone nib. It’s very smooth but then they all are. Their calligraphy nib, as they call it, is my favorite. I’ve always had wonderful luck with them.
Great collection, Mr Jones!! Your videos are very classy. Keep it up. Question - what is the duration for you to get to know a new pen ? I know it differs for everyone, but I am curious ; basically how do you break in a new pen ? Are there certain criteria you look for?
This, My Friend, is a video topic! Thanks very much for the kind comments on my videos. I appreciate it greatly. As for the duration, it depends. Sometimes you know that something is wrong immediately. Sometimes you need to get to know it and I’ll carry it around without inking it. I did that with the Platinum. It was a lot of pen. Usually though, if I can write with it for a week, I will know it pretty well. This happens a lot with pens sent to me for TikTok. I get about a week with them and then I post about them. I may put one down and pick it up a few weeks later and really fall in love with it. For me, I like good solid build quality; nothing lose or misaligned. I like a nib that writes smoothly the first time, although I do wash them first. That makes a big difference of course. I especially like something unique about the nib. I also like a bit of history/heritage/story about my pens. These objects should delight us, beguile us, make us feel that the act of writing has transcended into something more, something meditative and wonderful. All the best!
Thanks so much. I’ll check it out. The Platinum isn’t my favorite though. It’s probably my most beautiful. That would be the MB 149 & Egyptomania. Still lovely pen and thanks for the suggestion.
It's nice to see such a broad collection that includes a goodly number of more affordable pens. For myself, I'm not an overly big fan of Montblanc (though I did break down and add a 146 a year ago when I found one at a good price). I'm also a bit sacreligious about not liking the Parker 51. I do have a few but not a fan.
Thank you so much! I do like MB. I love their nib and styling but they are way overpriced. I have trouble with the 51 myself. It’s hard to find the nib for me. I respect it a lot though.
Glad to see that your great collection includes pens spanning a broad spectrum ! My favorite is Waterman Carene even though it’s not an exceptional writer as you mentioned in an earlier video. My surprise is that there aren’t some ‘usual suspects’ like 3776 and Vanishing Point.
Thank you so much! I think I picked on the Carene too much. It’s not that anything is wrong with it. It’s lovely. It writes well, but it’s just not exceptional. It’s solid and there is something to be said for solid. I should do a review and soon.
That was a very fun-to-watch video. Glad you didn't spend a lot of time on each pen, though it must have been tempting to do so since so many are such well-known and well regarded pens. Because you didn't, you shared with us a plethora of beautiful pens. Since many are out of my price range and since my neck of the woods doesn't have stores that carry a lot of your pens, seeing them on You Tube may be as close as I get to them. So that's a treat. I also appreciate your "democratic" approach to purchasing pens. Some most affordable pens are included. Which leads me to inquire if you have or have had other affordable pens you can recommend that are not shown in this video. I have or have had most you mentioned here. One you didn't mention that I think deserves more respect is the Kaweco Student pen. Mine with a medium nib is one of my most enjoyable writers. Thanks, as always.
Thank you so much for the kind comment. I love inexpensive as much as very expensive. The only one I have that I didn’t show in that category is the Jinhao 159. I am working on a review of it, but I like it, with some caveats. It is so heavy! For $8, it is amazing. I am buying some more entry level stuff. There is a lot of interesting things there. You know I love TWSBI!
@@HemingwayJones I'll look forward to that review. Don't think the weight will be an issue for me. On of our sons gave me a Diplomat Aero Flame--the one made of steel and heated to bring out some spectacular coloring--and its weight doesn't trouble me. How's the 159 compare with it? 🤣 My only TWSBI is the Mini Vac and I have enjoyed it a lot. A great value IMHO.
I couldn't disagree more regarding the Pilot Metro. And my JinHao x450 in orange is gorgeous and writes like a dream. Just goes to show ... But there's room for all of us, right? Glad to see the Conklins getting some love. Thanks for sharing!
Hello, My Friend! I feel bad about the Metro. I hear great things from so many people, but it doesn’t do it for me. However, I am going to give it a go again, but in a medium nib to see if my opinion changes. I just go a Jinhao 159 and I like it. I did soak it for 30 minutes before using it. I had to work on my 450 a bit. I should have got a different color. I do like the grip though. I think I said that. Thanks again and stay well!
A beautiful collection. I see you don't have any Faber Castell or Graf Von Faber Castell, I've had the opportunity to use them and they are amazing. I think you should get one and give it a try.
I don’t have the 2000. I am not the biggest fan of hooded nibs even though it writes extraordinarily well. My Wife has the Vanishing Point, so I never felt the need to buy it for myself. Lovely Pen. Thanks!
The Satie music is relaxing as is your voice. Your collection is astounding. Thanks for sharing with us.
Thank you so much for watching!
An enviable and adorable collection. Even more when it is presented with so much love and affection. I hope someday to have some of those jewels that you treasure.
Thank you very much! I appreciate it very much. I am so glad you enjoyed it.
Great collection, Hemingway! I left tiktok, so I'm stalking you more on here now.
I really need to try a Kaweco. They look like such great pens.
Thanks so much! You get a longer version of me here, closing to my Lives, I think. Happy to have you here and thanks!
I've never "ooh'd" and "aah'd" so much in my life. What an extraordinary collection you possess! I was unsure about continuing onward in my journey of exploring and purchasing fountain pens. Thank you very much and thanks for watching!
Mad fan of that inkwell. Mad, mad fan. It’s a real beauty.
Thanks so much! I love it too. I am going to speak more about it soon. Along with the Egyptomania. All the best.
Bluedew 😮😮😮
My goodness, that pen was HEAVENLY BEAUTIFUL 😮😮😮
I got to get my hands on one
Thank you!

I journal like a fiend, but I have too many pens. Many will be rehomed soon. Thanks for watching this one.
Hi. Wow !!!, and I really mean WOW !!! What a gorgeous pen collection.
My favorite one is that Mont Blanc Egyptomania.
I envy you 😊
Thank you very much! I appreciate your kind comments. I love that Egyptomania. It’s so different and so fun to use. Thanks again.

I have been there with the bladders. There is a lot of maintenance with vintage pens. Thanks for the kind comment. All the best!
Also! I love Satie. I am so happy that it is available for soundtrack. So delightful.

Cool ink well, FILL IT! I love the Diplomat Aero. It's my next purchase. I hope I like writing with it as much as I like looking at it.
I should, right? I am releasing a review of the Diplomat Aero next Thursday. Stay tuned.
The Y Studio looks very cool Hemingway I will have to check it out one day
If you do, please let me know what you think. All the best.

You need a Franklin Christoph. You also need the experience of visiting their shop and sampling all their pens and nib options.
That sounds fun! I love visiting shops. All the best.
I believe you are the first reviewer I've seen who didn't gush praise on the Pilot Falcon. That's what surprised me.

Since that Platinum is your favourite, I suggest getting Wancher Sekai Rising Sun. It has the same finish to it.
Thanks so much. I’ll check it out. The Platinum isn’t my favorite though. It’s probably my most beautiful. That would be the MB 149 & Egyptomania. Still lovely pen and thanks for the suggestion.
Very nice collection. Which do you reach for the most?
Hello and thank you! Historically, the 149. Lately, the Egyptomania. I also love the TWSBI Eco.
Do you clean a pen out each time you think it'll be put aside for a while?
Yes!
