Nice thoughts, this gentleman says what we always think but didn´t tell anyone. I´m 71 years old and I also collect FP, having some 300 of them, but only a dozen of the higher priced; I have found that many of the low cost FP are equally efficient than the high priced ones. And I love them all !
Dr. "Butch" I wanted you to know that I have watched this short video many times. Your mastery of the English language is quickly detected by your description of the FP's and how you use them in your life. I am a rather new collector and have but 22ish. However, for whatever ti means, I see myself being like you in about 30 years. Semper Fi -Josh Burks
Great video and I like Butch's philosophy of mixing his investments in his hobby of collecting writing instruments and his retirement! I have communicated with him and he is always approachable and a great addition to our fountain pen community.
I am 28 and I am also breading this habit of pen collection and know my collection grew to 20+. I wish in fifties there will be great memories associated with each pen and will remember them all and feel happy.
I finally found someone like me. I really liked his savings and i am doing it for me. Whenever I see my collection, it gives me immense pleasure to simply watch and enjoy. Fountain pens are class and it's a sheer joy !!!!
I enjoyed watching this video very much and it's good to know other Filipinos (and other nationalities as well) that collect pens. I'm the only one in my Filipino group that does and it is refreshing to see my fellow countrymen appreciate this when it seems handwriting is a lost art and to admire the intricate artwork labored into these fine writing instruments. Well, my story started with my grandfather and it passed on to me. From his old collection of Pelikans, Parkers, Sheaffers and Watermans, I eventually started building my own collection when I was able to afford it during the 1990s with a variety of pens from Montblanc Meisterstück, Montblanc Writer Series, Namiki Maki-e, Montegrappa Limited Edition, Cartier and Caran d' Ache. It's been 30 years now and I still have an admiration for these fine instruments -- old and new. I do understand the financial investment every pen collector does for their own collection but the rewards are far greater, even priceless.
Cool pen collection and fun story I do agree that this world has lost all form of intimacy and writing a letter is really personal...I started collecting pens and watches for that exact reason to just have fun and disconnect from the modern world..love the video
An excellent spokesperson for the pen collecting hobby. Many of his astute observations about the aesthetic joys of fountain pens resonated with me. Couldn't help but also admire Mr. Dalisay's taste in watches. The Bell & Ross was easy to spot, but am wondering about the other one...a Tudor Submariner?
Very nice video. Fountain pens are tools that transport us to the beyond with their/our intimacy and imagination, so needed in the world today. I am just returning to the FP world, glad to be back. Thanyou
I wish I was your English student. You diction is good sir. Ever since I watched this video, I am becoming to be a FP collector as well. Although I only have two at the moment a vintage Parker and VFM Sheaffer running on a Quink Parker. Your vid really inspired me. Thanks.
Good collection sir,i am 27...have been using hero329 FP over a decade..though cheap it gives me pleasure in writing ..hope i will have collection like u at ur age...
Great!! I love and respect people who follow their passion👍 I have also started using fountain pens...for sketching.. though i am still learning sketching 😜🍻
Your appreciation of our shared enthusiasm is touching. I think you said that at age 51 you only have ten more good years? Did I misunderstand? I am 68 so I guess I am 7 years beyond expiration date. Wonderful video, thank you.
I recognized the Panerai on your wrist but not quite sure about the other watch. And of course I love your Fountain Pen collection. Its divine and as you said out of this world. We all need something out of this world to stay sane in this world.
Hi. Switching again to fountain pens as well (used to have 3 and 3 inks but I gave it away to a maid coz' they're finicky and requires more maintenance) but now I carry a small notebook coz' writing is good for the well being and you don't forget things with a small back pocket notebook, avoiding resin pens (aka plastic but celluloid is kind of ok coz' it's mostly plant material) unless they're demonstrators (transparent or translucent). God bless, Proverbs 31
The most vital part in using and carrying the fountain pen is: coz' it usually has a great tactile feel, it, scientifically enhances the thinking, helping out write thing better, like how classical music helps you relax. 1938 Parker Vacumatic - $150 (mid range price fountain pen) Montblanc Hemingway - $900 to $1000 Parker Big Red - $50 Bell & Rose, BR S Black Matte watch - $1,500 God bless, Proverbs 31
I admit that I was kinda intimidated by Prof. Dalisay (because of his beautiful fountain pen collection) when I saw him at a Pen Show over a year ago. I regret this later on by missing the wisdom of a seasoned pen collector and writer.
These days, unless they are Namiki pens, it’s not worth collecting too many sub-expensive pens. Namiki pens triple and quadruple in value. Rare one quintuple as well. Sure, Fountain pens are nice. All you really need is a good set though. I prefer Rotring pens instead when doodling. Nowadays, writing is now on Digital Tablets with digital pens. Don’t be Alipen to your pen collection. It is more fun in the Philly-pens 🇵🇭 😮😅😊😂

Oh to hear our voice in another, eh?
heliosium higher price for a fountain pen that last 100 years, how much each day, not expensive at all !

I very much enjoyed this video. I think what he says about our obsession speaks to fountain pen lovers everywhere.
Respect.

Sir, I appreciate you. You are one of a kind person I would like to be in my 50's.
Superb video. It truly resonated within me. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and story.

Mabuhay, Professor Dalisay! Your love of fountain pens helps explain our passion in a functional, yet beautiful way.
I finally found someone like me. I really liked his savings and i am doing it for me. Whenever I see my collection, it gives me immense pleasure to simply watch and enjoy. Fountain pens are class and it's a sheer joy !!!!
Keep up with your "savings" and collect each pen that brings joy and meaning to you!

Great video, I love pens also. What a wonderful collection Jose has.
"para" in english in this context is "so" (the other meaning is: stop when you want to get off on a bus or a jeepney).

I can relate with Dr. Butch with fountain pens and watches. Great video.
That is a splendid collection. And you are right, sir. Nothing gives more pleasure than playing and doodling with a fountain pen.
i'm 20 years old currently and i'm pretty sure this is what i would be like when i'm 50
nice story :) for the next 20 years of my life. I should have my own collections too
I just started my FP journey. Started with modern Parker and Waterman. I'm aiming for Montblanc and vintage pens one day. Thank you for sharing this!

Very nice video. Fountain pens are tools that transport us to the beyond with their/our intimacy and imagination, so needed in the world today. I am just returning to the FP world, glad to be back. Thanyou

Thank you for your story mate. Love your collection and I doodle like that sometimes too, it's meditative

your Parker pen collection looks gorgeous
Writing with a fountain pen you use all your senses: touch, sight, smell, hearing and taste...
The more senses targeted in any undertaking, the more integrated you become as a human being
oh god... this is me in the next 40 good years of my life...
Sounds like you're headed toward a good direction!
Did I see a Montblanc Agatha Christie in his case? Lovely looking pen.
The most vital part in using and carrying the fountain pen is: coz' it usually has a great tactile feel, it, scientifically enhances the thinking, helping out write thing better, like how classical music helps you relax.
1938 Parker Vacumatic - $150 (mid range price fountain pen)
