I've always said that Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain had so much In Common, both Jimi was Seattle Born, Cobain Passed On Seattle, both played guitar Left-Handed, Both died at the age of 27, both Besides being Singer, Song-Writer and Guitarist Of their Bands they both also liked to Paint, Draw and Write Poems Into Notebooks/Whatever was around to write on, and While being alive they only release 3 Studio Albums... Jimi Hendrix (Are you Experience?, Axis: Bold As Love, Electric Ladyland) and Nirvana (Bleach, Nevermind, In Utero)... They also had really long fingers and their thumbs bent the same way, which definitely helped their Guitar playing, which they were able to do a lot more with longer fingers... And they are the Only 2 Musicians I can think of who were able to Control Guitar Feedback, and make it Melodic/Work with Whatever they were playing at the time... And controlling unpredictably guitar feedback is definitely a talent.
I would definitely say they were very similar and opposites at the same time, as jimi was a virtuoso and Kurt was a guitar minimalist. Jimi was black with a mainly r&b background while Kurt was white with a mainly punk background. Also jimi wearing flashy clothes while Kurt wore everyday torn clothes.kurt putting an end to glam rock,while jimi almost birthing hard rock.Kurt having a violent end, while jimi quietly passed.both equally icons in almost opposite ways,jimi as the greatest guitarist and kurt as one of the greatest songwriters in rock
Kurt had attempted numerous times before he met Courtney at 15 years of age. Kurt was suicidal if you look in his journal there are many notes of him saying he wanted to end himself. A suicidal drug addict ending himself?!? No way!
JH was a guitar player, KC was a song writer. They have more uncommon traits than common. One is white, the other black. One is a blues musician, the other had pop sentiments. One never made it in America, the other was considered "the voice of a generation". One was born and raised poor, the other was raised middle class. KC is right-handed, JH is left-handed. Etc..
