I'm from Africa, contracted for the police, and almost without fail I encounter a kitten at the police stations I need to go service, and so far, 1 adopted kitten, 1 homed kitten, and 7 happy fatty cattys that I feed when I visit. I consider it a job perk :D

I think every police station needs a pet. Officers, witnesses, children, even perps. Everyone needs the emotional support of a loving pet in the situations that bring you to a police station.
Plus keeping them around young children helps children immunize themselves against allergies. Ontop of not needing as much attention as dogs and the ability to be self sufficient. They're also known to prefer human comany over food.
They're not trying very hard to find the "owner". Where's the brilliant detective division? Play the "Law & Order" theme. Right....the cat has a bed , food and litter box...Case closed! LOL

The department is fortunate to have her loyalty, heaven knows she gives more positive & affirmative feedback to the men & women of the police department than the town officials have been giving the men & women of the police department. Keep the cat, remove the town official to outside the town limits!
This is a great example of why we need police departments changed to constitutuinal sheriffs. Less manipulation by political hacks of town councils or county supervisors & more responsive & equitable oversite by direct control of law enforecement by an elected sheriff with deputies. Whatever color uniform they wear, God bless & protect & guide them always. Hopefully more departments will change over to the CSPOA way of serving the people as they are answerable more directly to those they serve & protect. (The Constitutional Sheriffs & Peace Officers of America, you guys rock, & THANK YOU Sheriff Mack)
For such a stressful job as a police officer I bet this cat provides some needed mental relaxation and peace! There should be a national program like that to bring such animals to workplaces where possible!
Every high stress workplace needs a calm cat or dog. It’s proven to lower stress and blood pressure as well as improve mood. Plus taking care of them would give people at work a little break to think about something else for a short period of time and break up the grind of the day.
Naval vessels up until fairly recently always had ship's cats. They had three main jobs: 1. Kept vermin away from the ship's stores and holds 2. Ship's morale and often mascot. 3. Good luck.

Cops are more away from the station than there. I don’t think 1 new guy is going to rule over everyone else. That only happens in the intolerant, woke communities. Cops don’t buy into that BS. Thankfully.
