I just found your channel and wow does this bring back memories. I live in Arkansas and Mom used to fix this for us kids (all 7 of us) every Sunday morning before going to Church, good times.
I couldn’t believe this was something that people other than my grandmother in Oklahoma made this. It has been many many years since I’ve had some. Have to make it!!
My family grew up on this but the water version which is just as delicious and I prefer as the chocolate is a more intense flavor, moms from Kentucky and dads from Arkansas so I am blessed to have authentic southern cooking, and have been passed down this favorite as well as many others..thank you for sharing
What a lovely reminder of my late sweet Mother-In-Law . I refused it when she first made it but it smelled soooo good and I gave In.....I've never looked back! Lol. I really enjoyed this, Ken.
This doesn't sound very good but, I cut the sugar to 1/4 cup and I usually only have 1/2 & 1/2 so I used that in my biscuits & chocolate gravy. Wow how good. Thank You Ken Blessings, R.C.
You made my eyes get a mite misty...my Granny made that gravy for us. It’s also delicious on home fried potatoes cooked in butter with onions. I know...doesn’t sound great but I’d give a lot for another plate of Granny’s. She was from the Ozark mountains. Thank you very much!
I was raised on this meal for Breakfast on Sunday mornings and I continued the tradition with my kids. The only difference is that I omitted the butter and Vanilla and used Water instead of milk it's curl your toes good.
Thanks Ken! Here in e. Texas choc. Gravy is a staple, lol. I'm from Htown but married an e. Texan so I had never heard of it either but it is delish and watching you make it makes me hungry. I ALSO LOVE THE SCRIPTURE at the end of the video. Maybe you can change out the scripture and share more soul food with each recipe. I love it. IJN
I've been looking for a homemade chocolate gravy. I just use can biscuits and jello brand chocolate pudding and keep it hot. I'll try it homemade tomorrow. Thank you
Thanks so much for the recipe!! I have some relatives who moved to Tennessee and they told us about Chocolate Gravy. I didn't grow up with it and, like you, it doesn't sound great. Now I can't wait to give it a try. I'm sure my hubby will like it. He has such a sweet tooth.
I have never heard of this before and like you I’m not too sure . But , you can’t knock what you have not tried. My granddaughter will be coming next week and together we will make this recipe. Thank you for sharing a family favorite
I am going to try this recipe. I make my chocolate gravy in a saucepan I mix sugar, cocoa and milk . Cook it until it blends & begins to bubble. I add vanilla extract & peanut butter, mix until thickens. I have cooked this in a microwave also.
Yep here n the foothill of NC we love us some chocolate gravy, well I guess we love all gravy lol,but great video on the gravy just the way we make it to,also sometimes I like making it with evaporated milk makes it creamier n my opinion 👍
This video gives the details about how I bake while camping: ua-cam.com/video/K9PycyY7VyM/v-deo.html Each of my hammock camping videos shows some cooking.
Ken, if we lived any closer...you'd need a restraining order! This is every bit as good as when I first tasted chocolate gravy at a friend's house, way back in the day when I was 16. Delicious!
My parents were from Oklahoma. I was born and raised in California. Mom made this many times for our breakfast on school morning. I'd tell my California friends I had biscuits and chocolate gravy and they'd almost always say "Eww!!!" or "That sounds disgusting!". People hear the word gravy and they think of something with meat drippings. I have to explain that it's just a chocolate sauce you pour over buttered biscuits - nothing nasty, not a savory "gravy".
Oh, my goodness. First time I've ever seen chocolate gravy. I love chocolate 🍫 😊❤ P.S. Will you please make me some redeye gravy?? Seems like I've known you all my life. Thank you, Mr. Click. Sending love and prayers to you and yours. ❤🙏🎉
I've heard of this but never tried it. I've actually watched several videos on how it's made. But I can't bring myself to make it. It just seems kind of odd to me.
My first thought was, "oh no!". Then I thought, "well, chocolate doughnuts are good". My next thought was, "add some bacon too!" It's basically a thickened hot chocolate.
My grandma used to make that to go with her homemade biscuits. But…..she cut back on the milk some and poured in some coffee. Amazing!
✅🙂

This looks amazing, Ken. The real question...is it breakfast, or dessert? Both maybe?
Yes... like many sweet breakfast dishes.

This looks like it needs to be on top of a bowl of ice cream for hot fudge. Thanks

Not at this time. Thanks for watching!
