That pan of gravy reminded me so much of Mama. While she never made chocolate gravy, she made enough brown and milk gravy to go around the world and back. Matt reminds me of Daddy eating biscuits and gravy. That was his favorite all time food. You mentioned corn bread and milk. Grandpa, Daddy and I all loved it. We'd take a big hunk and crumble it up in a tea glass, sill it up with milk and eat it with a spoon. Fond memories!

My mother would make what she called “hoodlum” gravy on Sunday morning beofre church. How she got that done and got herself ready along with four small kids dressed and went to Sunday school and church, will always be a mystery to me. The hoodlum gravy was chocolate gravy which she made from scratch. It was divine went poured over a hot butter soaked biscuit.

Lately, I have been making my bacon in my air fryer if it’s just for my husband and me. Otherwise, I make it in the oven.

I'm 60, and we grew up on chocolate gravy in the Arkansas hills. I've never made it with water. Milk and butter was always what was used; the butter was the "starting" oil in the pan, and the milk went in after the flour, cocoa, and sugar mixed with the butter. THE best eating ever, especially with eggs and bacon. Making me hungry for it now LOL. Great video :)

This breakfast looks delicious, Tipper. I'd skip Matt's "abomination gravy" and have blackberry jelly on my biscuit(s), but I wouldn't overlook anything else. If you like chocolate in any form, then you would like chocolate gravy . Me and my brother and sister grew up with our mom making us chocolate gravy and there was never any left over, we just dipped it right out of the skillet and put it over the tore up biscuits and made sure the skillet was scraped cleaned and the serving spoon licked clean . But we liked our chocolate gravy really rich, so we put a lot of coco in it . And today I love dark chocolate and buy a lot of bags of dark chocolate chips, to just eat right out of the bag, 2 or 3 tablespoon fulls at a time and 3 or 4 times a day. The richer more bitter, the better . The chocolate gravy that we made was great to make chocolate pies out of and eat it with ice cream or whipped cream . But over the years I have told people about chocolate gravy and biscuits, and they say that they never heard of it before . And I say then you don't know what that your missing, cause it is absolutely delicious .

I grew up on chocolate bread. It was dipped in a chocolate sauce like you would dip French toast, and laid out on a cookie sheet. My brothers and I would have it for breakfast. It was very sweet and I’m sure the teachers were very happy to have a bunch of wired up kids to teach. Anyway I asked my mother for the recipe and she would not give it to me. I’m almost positive, knowing the extent of my sweet tooth , she thought she was saving my life. You don't know what that you are missing, a big plate full of tore up biscuits and then pour hot chocolate gravy (rich coco, cause we put a lot of coco in our chocolate gravy) and it does make great chocolate pies and eat ice cream or cool whip with it . My mom grew up in Johnson County, Kentucky and is 91 yrs old and she has eat chocolate gravy all her life and I am 58 yrs old and she made it for me and my brother and sister, when we were growing up . And we would just make a meal out of it, chocolate gravy and homemade biscuits, there was 5 of us, dad and mom and us 3 kids, so we would make a big iron skillet full and about 14 or so of biscuits . Once in a while, instead of making it for breakfast on Sunday morning, we would make it for supper then . And it was delicious .

If you place the bacon next to the biscuits, the crispy edges of the bacon get the chocolate gravy on them and it takes the bacon to a whole new level lol. I’m from Michigan. My family is from the hills of north Georgia. They never made chocolate gravy, though. I have wanted to try to make it myself for years. I'm just going to have to break down and do it one day. Your meal looks amazing. I always love visiting your channel. Thank you for sharing!

I make my bacon in the oven too! I use non stick foil on my pan to cut down on the grease mess. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and bake it for 20 minutes. That’s for thick sliced bacon.

I did not grow up eating chocolate gravy (or milk gravy or tomato gravy or bacon and sausage gravy). My mama made brown gravy with roast beef or hamburger steak and we had turkey gravy at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I made chocolate gravy once several years ago for my husband and myself, but we did not really care for it. The very first time I ate milk gravy and biscuits, I was visiting a home in TN. I attended Bible college in eastern NC(Elizabeth City) and our freshman class toured various churches in NC, VA, OH, and TN performing a Christmas program of music. At each church, we were divided up and parceled out for the night to church members homes before traveling on the next morning. The lady in this particular home made milk gravy n biscuits for breakfast and I fell in love!! So I am a biscuit n gravy convert now thanks to that kind lady's hospitality!
I like salt and pepper on my canteloupe! Lots of pepper!
Have a blessed day Tipper and Matt!
