- I needed to make a prop chair for a little diorama shadowbox and I thought why not do a tutorial? I have made many props for dioramas over the years this way but with wire and cosclay is a game-changer because unlike other clays that can slump during baking this stuff does not. I am showing you a method that I have developed for making tables, chairs, and other miniature furniture for my little dioramas. And with the introduction of Cosclay I no longer need to insert a piece of wire into the legs or use wood for certain parts. This clay is amazing and durable, BUT if you're not using cosclay I would recommend you go ahead and cut small pieces of wire and insert them into each leg before baking them, otherwise, it is the same process, the wire would only need to be about 2/3 the length of the leg. It makes it pretty hard to adjust the legs with the wire so I am loving this without needing to use it. If you use the wire it would not need to go all the way into the seat either just in the legs. You would still use the bake and bond thought. The wire in other kinds of polymer clay is mostly to keep each leg from bowing as most polymer gets really soft and slumps or droops when baking which is also by things end up with flat bottoms when you back because the clay gets super soft before it gets hard.
