Same... probably due to some blurring in the capture but it is crazy to think that... and it's just the beginning. We all thought that FS2020 would be hard to beat but FS2024 is visually even better.

I found your "Don't rush things" in these Honeywell avionics memorable! My father was a USAF pilot for eight years between 1962-1970. After he got out he went into the tech industry and computer engineering. So he knew tech. Our first home computer he bought us was in 1980, an Apple II, and he bought Sublogic's Flight Simulator for it. I remember him telling me way back then as a kid to not "rush" things and let the computer do its thing before hitting keyboard keys and moving the joystick. I remembered this lesson when I started flying in the late 1980s and letting the old school King NAV/COM avionics take their time warming up in our aero club 172s. Even today when I try and flip my Xfinity DVR cable box too quick between channels from time to time it has a meltdown. Additionally, I have thoroughly enjoyed MS2020 for the past three and a half years with a dedicated $3K PC built for it, but I still have to let it "settle down" before jumping into things. Some things never change! 😄 Great content and thanks!
Thank you so much! You’ve done an amazing job, and you truly stand out from other UA-camrs with such class. Many pilots who create videos could really learn from your example. Keep up the great work, and I’m sure your channel will grow exponentially!
Wow! I'm glad the Tube thought I needed to see this content. It was right! I'm an IT Professional working at a company that owns both a PC-24 and a Bell 429. Over the last year I've gotten to be a pax on both many dozens of times. The pilots all know me as "the flight sim guy", and I love talking with them about the details of flying. But I've never had the chance to be there for the PC-24 startup procedures...just can't make myself get to the airport at 4am. 😂 I was so happy to hear that there will be a PC-24 in MSFS 2024!! And your video just got me even more jazzed for Nov 19. Thanks...you have a new subscriber!!
Love the PC-24 and Bell 429, how did I not know about this channel! Loved this video. As a pilot of light aircraft who would love to fly this aircraft but probably never will, I appreciate the detail in the video. Now, got to watch all the other videos in the channel. Please!!! keep them coming.
Thank you for posting. With all the automation doesn't the Honeywell system offer the capability to have ForeFlight transfer the flight plan to the panel? Additionally I'm curious why you are requesting FL43? I thought west bound flights were even numbers (ex FL44 or 42) and eastbound odd. If I remember my old John and Martha King training videos...east is least and west is best.🙂
Per your other question regarding altitudes. Everything changes above FL410. Remember that RVSM altitudes start at FL290 and go to FL410. You are allowed 1,000' of separation inside RVSM ONLY if you are RVSM capable. Otherwise it's 2.000' of separation. Therefore above FL410 separations switch to 2,000'. So then Eastboard your options are FL410, FL450, etc and Westbound would be FL400, FL430, etc. Now you can request split altitudes like FL420, 440, but it would be non-standard and they will not give them if there are traffic constraints. Hope this helps.

If you selected it earlier I missed it. If not, that felt long but every airplane is different, and protecting the battery on a jet is something that took me a bit to embrace (reasons). Thanks again, and greatly appreciate your quick response.
@ there is a little editing magic there…so not quite that long. But these lithium ion batteries are able to hold their voltage much longer than tradition NiCad or lead acid. In anyway, BAT 1 runs the avionics and BAT 2 is for starting. You’ll see little to no amps are drawn on BAT 2, preserving it for the start. The 24 is very well designed for GPU independence.
@@more-left-pedal yep, went back and found where you were still using battery (and could tell you had Li-ion) and then later had GPU input. The CJ4 originally had a single Li-ion (we had two 4’s) and made it through the transition away from that. The Gen 3 CJ4 supposedly returns to its roots, battery wise. Again, fascinating video for me. BTW, you appear to have the patience of explaining things as a CFI, just curious if that’s true.

Never could warm up to honeywell systems, not even their more traditional FMS boxes. Call me old fashioned but my ProLine 21 could accomplish all of this much faster, and there is no "waiting for amber boxes to go away" - you power it on and it's ready to go. Unrelated PC-24 question though, how often do you guys actually use QPM to do all this kinda like how we'd use the APU. And can you cool/heat the cabin with just GPU power or do you need bleed air for that?
Yea I don't disagree. It's a little how I feel about the flight deck in the Bell 429. It's a fantastic single pilot IFR platform that has served me well for nearly a decade. The Honeywell is obviously an extremely advanced path/vector based full FMS. On the surface, I agree it seems to be fussy with its million BIT checks. But, if you look at the time you save on the back end not having to do a functional test of each system like most airplanes, I think it's a net benefit. Either way, it's the future and I'm learning to enjoy working alongside this deeper level of automation. As for your question regarding QPM, essentially Engine 2 can enter a sub-idle mode to provide 250A of power to the aircraft systems. This includes all environmental. We use it like an APU when waiting on passengers at a remote airfield without access to a GPU. It sips fuel and is pretty quiet. It's a handy feature.

Been from Europe myself that´s where I´ll be using the PC24. Again, thank you so much for the start of a great thing (I hope)....
Hi, it's a very instructive video, since you show the step-by-step procedures in great detail. Also, the Pilatus PC-24 is an aircraft with a very clean and uncomplicated cockpit. Thank you for sharing the video. Would it be possible for you to share the checklist of normal procedures? If not, could you make a video showing all the procedures in all categories?. Thx.
Do you not run into issues with battery degradation doing all this prep with the GPU turned off? Seems like a lot to be doing on battery power only. In the airplane I fly we have a limitation of 5 minutes for avionics cooling before AC power must be established.
The PC24 has these amazing Lithium Ion batteries from TrueBlue that are incredible. Not only do they hold their voltage for a much longer period of time, BAT1 can run all of the avionics, preserving BAT2 for the engine start. You'll see that there is a SOC (state of charge) indicator under the respective battery on the bottom MFD synoptic page. As long as that is in the green, you are good to go. Once you get external power or an engine online, they charge back up super fast.
Love aviation and this technology, and fly MSFS2020 love the 787. I do have some trouble understanding automation in aviation. It's a bit of a mixed bag. So you are asked to run the checklist. while the aircraft can easily verify the setting itself. Also Explained in the video is that a engine start during automation startup causes problemes. it should be automatically prevented in the first place. If the cockpit has a long start sequency it could be inidated by a time bar. Now you have chosen a set of landmarks that tell you where the process is.
Well while the airplane does do “configuration checks” such as during take off, you’ll get a “NO TAKE OFF” aural alert if you have the flaps set incorrectly for example. Or you’ll get a “GEAR” aural alert below a certain radar altitude and in a certain configuration. So the automation is helping out the pilot who found himself behind the airplane but there an many phases of flight where the configuration possibilities are just too vast and only a a pilot can properly tell the automation what to do. Flows are efficiency/speed, Checklists are safety.
@@more-left-pedal Thank you for you're answer. In my opinion the wost error is "NO TAKE OFF" I would like to mention with Boeing the message is: "Aircraft not in take off config". It will tell you something is wrong, then it won't mention what send of the warning. My example lead to 121 fitalities on a Helios Aircraft. Where the Airplane said that. Pilots after check-list dismissed it. and tuned out to have a disabled cabinpressure system. But I do agree automation on the navigation part must be great compared to pre-GPS. Can't wait to have a look at the PC-24 in MSFS.
In the 70's we had to do our speeds and plot our flight using graphs, charts, flight plotter and what we called a flight computer. Which was NOT electronic ! It was like a circular slide rule. Do they still teach that ?
@@larrya7822 yes the E6B. I had one in flight school too. It was taught when I was in flight school 15 years ago…haven’t seen one in a decade honestly. Sadly I don’t think it’s taught anymore.
In flight school does it take longer to actually learn how to fly the aircraft or all the computer stuff leading up to starting the engines? 😭 I hope these never get the dreaded blue screen like a home PC. 😂
By the time you learn an aircraft like this you’ve likely been a pilot for many years and have flown thousands of hours in other aircraft. The systems on the PC24 are pretty easy to learn. Initial type training is very comprehensive…once type rated your very well prepared.
This may be ignorance and inexperience speaking but manually inputting the flight plan seems to be waaaaaaay easier and less convoluted in an aircraft with a traditional MCDU (such as the proline 4) than slewing around with the cursor that the PC12 has.
You're possibly correct, but I really don't have a basis for comparison outside some older Collins units. Datalink flight plan input is definitely the way to go. ; )
As excited as I am for the PC-24......it's from Carenado, who aren't known for their systems depth (or are known for a lack of). However, a different developer is doing the systems, so it *might* wind up exceeding my expectations.
@@more-left-pedal Yup. Working Title, who rebuilt the 2020 SR22 and reworked the 787, are building a custom version of the Epic Primus II for at least the PC-12.
@@HeckyReckyOfficial They don’t even have a TOGO button…you think the charge level is going to change over time? The PC24 in game is a disaster. They have a lot of work to do.
@@leonardusl5141 the initialization of BAT 2 starts a host of system BIT checks that can only begin after certain systems are initialized after BAT 1. Basically things need to happen in order.
The systems are extremely well designed and redundant. Besides this screen technology having been tested for millions of operational hours, the 4 display units sit across different dual data, power and graphics processors. Any one or multiple of the systems can fail and you’ll retain full capability. If there is a complete failure of both system we have a third fully independent ESIS back up PFD that can help get us safely on the ground. I’d be pretty comfortable with these operational odds.
That was an excellent presentation and I initially thought "damn those graphics, amazing"... I take it no one has seen the MSFS2024 PC-24 yet? Seeing how the real thing works and how an in-game PC-24 works may be completely different experiences if half the knobs and buttons are INOP as usual and fidelity is at a bare minimum to appeal to casual users mostly. I'd rather SWS released PC-24 like they did with PC-12. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. Also PC-24 will only be included in the Premium Deluxe version of MSFS2024 and I didn't want to pay $140 for this, but I now see it's only $90 at gray key sites so I'm definitely getting PD and PC-24, yay.
Yes...it's disappointing. I was really hoping they would match the quality of the Longitude. It doesn't even have a TOGO button, fuel flows and air speeds are all wrong, synoptic screens are all missing. There is just too much wrong with it... I hope they continue to refine it. I've been asked to make a video about it...but I fear it will just be too much negativity. "If you can't say anything nice..."
@@JSRRADIO Lol…yeah…this is the “boring” side of aviation. Maybe we need a video on cabin prep (vacuuming carpets, wiping down the cabin, loading snacks) ; )…lol Anyway, there are several flying videos up on the channel. Enjoy and be well!
@more-left-pedal no it was not that it wa boring because it was not at all boring it just made me crave the flight aspect of set up processes. Truly loving aviation will only do that to ya I suppose lol
@@JoeDFWAviationno not at all. We can fly 280 knots (290 is our VMO) which is usually the fastest speed you see on most arrivals. Then when you get close into the field we can easily match speeds with the big boys by just landing flaps 15 instead of 33. But if you don’t think ahead, it’s true they aren’t expecting a jet to have a 91 knot ref speed 😆
I don't see how enabling GPU should affect a test of control surfaces or bleed controller. If the tests are this flaky, I'd expect failed tests to be treated as something to be retried, which reduces their effectiveness at finding real but intermittent problems.
Stuff just needs to happen in order as there are dependencies to other systems. You just can't rush...This is common on Honeywell based aircraft. Ask any modern Falcon or Gulfstream crew.

Again, thank you so much for the start of a great thing (I hope)....
I thought it was flight sim till I saw your hang, the reason I say this is because my sim look alike, wow
Very helpful video. I hope to fly the Pilatus PC-24 someday.
Thx.
@@Jmder85 thanks. Yes I’ll work on that
I thought it was a game until I saw his hand, my brain was working overtime there!
Perfect, cheers man !
How is the app caled you use on the iPad?
ForeFlight
It’s crazy how complicated flying is compared to driving. It’s only one extra dimension. I can’t see flying cars ever being a thing. 😄
They can do it. DCS has full military datalink simulated and it can be used from handing off target information, sending messages and much more.
@@qthemerrybandofanons4481 Wow that’s amazing.
The flight plan uplink is actually a thing in MSFS for many aircraft, thanks to Simbrief integration
amazing video!
@ that’s amazing! Super cool info! Thanks for the reply.
Can't wait to fire her up in MSFS2024! Great video! Thank you! --> May there be a comparison RL PC-24 vs. MSFS2024 PC-24 once?
Sure that could be fun.
i don't even pilot that plane, but this is interesting & high-quality. 💜✅️👏
Very interesting, thanks for sharing. 😎👍
Where’s the progress bar?
Who is releasing PC24 for FS?
@ No system is perfect. Have a great time exploring the PC24 in MSFS.
10:00 flight plan uplink will probably be a simbrief import and/or MSFS world map import with their new flight planning system.
@@JoeDFWAviation sweet that would be awesome
I hope the PC24 in MSFS2024 will be that deep simulated then your aircraft you showed us ;)
In the 70's we had to do our speeds and plot our flight using graphs, charts, flight plotter and what we called a flight computer.
Datalink flight plan input is definitely the way to go. ; )
Thanks for sharing that! Is that an iPad Mini?
standard size.
What's that? Is that vr or ar or mix reality?
As excited as I am for the PC-24......it's from Carenado, who aren't known for their systems depth (or are known for a lack of).
However, a different developer is doing the systems, so it *might* wind up exceeding my expectations.
Let’s hope that they focus on the awesome avionics.
@@more-left-pedal Yup. Working Title, who rebuilt the 2020 SR22 and reworked the 787, are building a custom version of the Epic Primus II for at least the PC-12.
I wanna see what happens when you proceed to battery 1 and then let the battery run down, how it will be rendered in game
@@HeckyReckyOfficial They don’t even have a TOGO button…you think the charge level is going to change over time? The PC24 in game is a disaster. They have a lot of work to do.
when you push those levers forward gets ya speed are they are to push or little resistance
They are very smooth with a little resistance. There is no friction adjustment
@more-left-pedal oooo ok thanks fur the reply
Multi functional display...no shit. I tested Multiple Function Color Displays for the B-52. So cool
It must flow quickly with practice I’ve seen a few departures get going pretty quickly.
Yes but this isn’t a phase to rush. I get started one hour prior to departure, especially single pilot.
Awesome thanks a lot!!!!
Why can't you turn on both batteries at the same time?
@@leonardusl5141 the initialization of BAT 2 starts a host of system BIT checks that can only begin after certain systems are initialized after BAT 1. Basically things need to happen in order.
Ok what happens if your cockpit goes dark then what you lose all your instruments that’s why I hate glass cockpits same thing goes for boats too
The systems are extremely well designed and redundant.
@ thank you
@@more-left-pedal so essentially there’s a backup for the backup for the backup lol
Thank you for the comment! That’s too bad it isn’t included in the base level software. I’ll have to read up on this more. Cheers!
Have you tried out the PC24 in MSFS 24' yet?
Yes...it's disappointing. I was really hoping they would match the quality of the Longitude. It doesn't even have a TOGO button, fuel flows and air speeds are all wrong, synoptic screens are all missing. There is just too much wrong with it... I hope they continue to refine it. I've been asked to make a video about it...but I fear it will just be too much negativity. "If you can't say anything nice..."
@ That’s what I’m hearing as well. I think you should make a video. Maybe they will give it some additional attention.
Sexy airplane! Can't wait for FS2024 too.. 15 days!!
After all that I want to see you fly now lol
@@JSRRADIO Lol…yeah…this is the “boring” side of aviation. Maybe we need a video on cabin prep (vacuuming carpets, wiping down the cabin, loading snacks) ; )…lol Anyway, there are several flying videos up on the channel. Enjoy and be well!
@more-left-pedal no it was not that it wa boring because it was not at all boring it just made me crave the flight aspect of set up processes. Truly loving aviation will only do that to ya I suppose lol
@ Ahhhh copy! I love all parts too.
@@more-left-pedal Kelsy over at 74Gear will help you with the snacks but you might not have any left for the PAX if he does. XD
I was tripping like "man the Graphics are amazing, in VR? Is that a hand?! Wait..."
Why msfs 2024 in title?
Because the PC24 just came out in MSFS 24 and I was asked to make this video by people interested in understanding how the aircraft is booted up.
I thought I was watching FS2020 until I saw your hand
I used to gawk at how slow the PC24 was at mach .74 but in reality it’s not all that bad. Definitely faster than a turboprop…..or a car lol
Can’t wait til I get fs2024 to try the pc24 for myself 👍🏻
Do you ever run into problems with sequencing into an airport with the airliners? Especially because of the slow mach speed.
@@more-left-pedal 😂
Ngl I thought this was a sim with eye tracking at first.
Haha just shows how amazing modern graphics are!
Precisely!
Right? I was like "no way these graphics are that good"
Slightly more complicated than starting the 152 I used to get my private.
Until I saw your finger I was like "ain't no way"
at the beginning i thought it was msfs new graphics before i saw the hand xD
Just to avoid confusion this is not MS2024 and it is not VR - This is real life and it just to show how it will work for the upcoming MS2024 version
thanks to let us poor bastards take part in this awesome pice of machinery ;)
I don't see how enabling GPU should affect a test of control surfaces or bleed controller. If the tests are this flaky, I'd expect failed tests to be treated as something to be retried, which reduces their effectiveness at finding real but intermittent problems.
Stuff just needs to happen in order as there are dependencies to other systems. You just can't rush...This is common on Honeywell based aircraft. Ask any modern Falcon or Gulfstream crew.
I thought this was MSFS at first
