Welcome aboard. I'm a US based dual-rated ATP in both helicopters and airplanes, flying both the Bell 429 and Pilatus PC24. My videos focus on the flying, so that I can focus on the flying. This usually means no narration, no music overlays, just raw flight content. I’m happy to share the magic of pure helicopter and airplane flight from my perspective. Enjoy!
How to Best Prepare for your Pilatus PC-24 Initial Type Training at FlightSafety

Helicopter Bell 429 Landing SFO IFR
Back in the 80's I was out in San Francisco a lot. I chartered a Jet Ranger to see Alcatraz and the Golden Gate. I was out there so often, I became friendly with the pilot. He invited me a few times to ride along as he did morning drive traffic reports for a major TV and radio station. The guy was an ex Nam pilot and just a little crazy. LOL I was young and kinda wild back then. Oh man, the stories!! What I clearly don't recall, so if I may indulge you with what might be a really dumb question. Do you feel thermals in a helicopter like you do in smaller fixed wing single engine planes? I just found this channel and I can't tell you how amazing it is to watch you pilot both these amazing aircraft. You have amazing skills sir. Happy Holidays and thanks so much for sharing this awesome content. California is so gorgeous, especially when you get to see the aerial views. Cheers
great video. Looking forward to going to 24 school in 2025.
Fantastic video. This is amazing and useful content that is relevant for type rating or cert.
Does Bell have a simulator in the Dallas. Or would it have to be Flight Safety. 😮🎉
Would love to see one with the Bell 429? Would that be at Dallas. If there is one for Helicopters.👋🧑🎄
FlightSafety is great. Did my H130 training there. Came across your channel the other day. I enjoy the 429 IFR flights. I'd come copilot for you
Great video thank you!
🙏🏼🙌🙏🏼🙌
Send all you can thank you.
Ok what happens if your cockpit goes dark then what you lose all your instruments that’s why I hate glass cockpits same thing goes for boats too
The systems are extremely well designed and redundant. Besides this screen technology having been tested for millions of operational hours, the 4 display units sit across different dual data, power and graphics processors. Any one or multiple of the systems can fail and you’ll retain full capability. If there is a complete failure of both system we have a third fully independent ESIS back up PFD that can help get us safely on the ground. I’d be pretty comfortable with these operational odds.
@ thank you
@@more-left-pedal so essentially there’s a backup for the backup for the backup lol
Amazing!
Quick question, what happens if you need to go to the bathroom?
When alone on long ferry trips I’ll bring with me a couple of those Travel John’s: www.sportys.com/travel-john-pack-of-18.html?srsltid=AfmBOop5XXGj3tU-AuOlACr4KfAsmVQEBorhISAtAnfhtD6U7VFE3LEe However when you have passengers on board this is not viable so you just get really good at knowing your bladder limits and not eating the “wrong thing”. In the PC24, there is a cockpit door so you could get some privacy from the cabin if you are single pilot. Plan A is don’t drink your coffee until ETR is 1 hour. 😊
First time seeing an IFR pre flight and departure of a rotor craft and as an ex bush pilot, got a huge kick out of it. Thank you very much Sir, and well done!
That yoke looks a little 'Stockton Rush' lol 🤣
Lol...reminds me of a Nintendo 64 controller. As funny as it looks it's actually really comfortable.
Helicopters do not fly in Instrument meteorological conditions. No IFR sir. And clearly you are not silly,I did not see you flying that bird in the soup. No need for clickbait..
The 429 is fully certified day/night IFR as are most twin engine helicopters. Field was reporting LIFR (VIS 4, OVC 200) at the time of departure, hence the need for a IFR departure procedure. Silly would be scud running with a fully IFR capable machine. More soup: ua-cam.com/video/WtaEp_4vN5s/v-deo.html
Super smooth machine w amazing tech... like a grocery run to the corner store... thanks for taking us aloft
I live my fantasy life through videos like this. Always wanted to be a pilot mainly fighter jet but my dedication sucks haha 😂 thanks for sharing I sit in bed and watch every second like I’m in school learning
Really enjoy your videos. It reminds me how boring my job at the majors is flying a pressurized tube! 😅
Haha…well here’s to being boring. 🍻
@@more-left-pedal I think I’m getting close to driving to the local flight school and work on the rotary add-on 😄. Fly safe and all the best!
@@climbto370💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Do my ears detect an automatic rpm reduction after takeoff?
@@davidfranklin2728 yes, not automatic. On the collective we have a switch that sets rotor from 100% to 104%. We use 104% until 58 knots then reduce back to 100%. This gives us better single engine performance if we were to lose an engine in that lower speed regime. It’s common of CAT A certified twin engine helicopters such as the 429.
Bell 429... one of my favourite helis... Got just 2 meters long RC model of it but I always imagine I'm flying the big one like you. 🙂 Enjoy the beauty... 😊
@@MaxSupercars 2 meter model!!!! Wow…that’s huge! Super cool! Thanks for sharing.
nice graphics
Reading through the comments show's all the bragging expert show off coming out of the woodwork. They can't even bother making their comments about this video. Instead just waffling about themselves and what they flew,🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
How do these machines deal with IFR icing conditions in cloud ? Thanks for the share
This helicopter is not approved for flight into known icing. We have pitot heat protection but icing must be avoided. You typically only ice protection systems on much larger helicopters such as S92, etc, which have electrically heated blades.
Thank you for the reply !! I’ve only flown fixed wing in ice 🧊 Great Vid (:
429 AND a PC24 - what a dream combo. You must have been extremely well behaved in a past life 😂. Thanks for the ridealong.
😂 😇
Damned amazing! The 429 and the scenery.
Sorry shitty video, the whole flight was the same look.
great job ! nice flight thanks!
Great Video TY You have your letters messed up in Helictoper (Helicopter)
Over 50k views and you’re the first to catch this. 🥇
I have flown in a lot of military helicopters. What is the cabin temps like in a commercial helicopter. You're flying over snow covered mountains, is it cool or cold in the cockpit?
Yeah it's really good...you can achieve any temp you want and has pretty good selectivity from the cockpit and the cabin areas.
Mr show off bragger, the video is not about what you flew so why brag 🙄🙄🙄
Out of curiosity, are you using MSFS 2024 at all? Great flight in a phenomenal area! Nice work sir
Yes I love MSFS 2024. I use it all the time.
2:02 sounds like it’s Acme hour 😂 I seriously can’t wait to fly a helicopter again. I just got back from Army flight school and am in between jobs
Gotta love bitchin Betty
Great video! Live vicariously too. Thank you for bringing us along.
Puts helicopter in Attitude mode: "You can't tell me what to do! You're not my dad! Mom only married you for the money!"
😂
thank you for the video.... If you need a copilot in your adventures let me know ;)
Nice to be rich but i guess someone has to enjoy it
Wait, so it has auto pilot? Or did you just trim it. Auto hover too?
Yes very advanced double redundant autopilots. And yes the 429 can do hover and mark on target modes.
@@more-left-pedal I should have learned to fly rotary.
You can fly these too? That's sweet
@@buckrodgers770 I’ll fly whatever they tell me to fly! 😂
great video Christian ... nice to see you're still enjoying the B429.
Dang Boss your handwriting is almost as bad as mine.
@@Marks-Law haha I know…terrible…I should have been a doctor.
Thanks for taking us along. I had to follow on Foreflight just to nerd out!! Great Chops!
@@aaronmaclean4464 sweet!!
Weird. I can accept auto pilot on fixed wing but can't wrap my head around it on a helo.
Great video! But I've spent most of it trying to figure out what kind of vodoo magic you are doing when using your PTT without touching controls lol. Do you have a button on the floor or something?
Haha yes there is a foot switch for PTT.
Dude burned up 50 bucks worth of jet a before he got off the ground
I bet more…😅
50 bucks on this is like saying 50 cents worth of gas on your car
Man, I love helis. I have to live vicariously in MSFS. Love how the cows went running lol. What a beautiful spot.
I love MSFS. 💪🏼 ❤️ 🙏🏼
I love MSFS. 💪🏼 ❤️ 🙏🏼
Is this a personal home of yours that you're able to fly to and from?
Does your radio have VOX? I never saw you pushing a PTT when picking up your IFR. But then I also never saw you turn it off right after, so I'm a bit confused.
I have a foot switch in the 429. It’s super handy. Good eye…
Does this heli have auto pilot?
It has dual 4 axis auto pilots. Amazing platform.
You didn't even hand fly the departure? 😅😅😅 Cmon man😂
😂 I’ll hand fly an approach but a departure, I’m pretty much always going to use automation on an instrument departure especially single pilot.
