    You really do have the best spin cast in the game. You can thread the needle on a thicket like no one I've ever seen. Would love for you to do a video on your casting technique.

      It's pretty crazy to be honest. I feel like I have way less control with my finesse rod compared to my baitcaster. That's probably just due to lack of practice. John is great with spinning gear.

    • @thetalio
      @thetalio 2 роки тому +1

      @@BlakJak It's funny cause I THOUGHT I was good with a spin rod. I've got spiral bound manuals going back to the 60's explaining the fine intricacies of spin casting and my man here is doing something extra I just don't know about. Spin casting is one of those weird things like chess where it's easy to learn and hard to master where baitcasting or fly fishing are kinda the opposite. Once you get the mechanics of those casts down, you're pretty much shooting lasers the rest of your life, but with a spin rod, you still shoot slightly to the opposite side of your casting arm. One of the things I've noticed about his cast is that he doesn't end up with the rod pointed at the target. I think he's casting it like throwing a ball and bringing the rod tip to a hard stop at the release point...Maybe...

    Yes ! The creeks are waking up ! The Coosa are getting hungry ! That snake might have been a diamondback water snake. Ask Cole and Jay, they know every snake ! Good to see the Greenway bustling with activity. Always be careful. Randy B.

    That has to be a great feeling meeting subscribers knowing those are not only people that enjoy your fishing, they are also the very people that you are witnessing to about Christ. Certainly there has to be some people who you have directed to Christ through this ministry. Thats awesome. Oh, the pond magic is a great lure! The white bass love them too!

    Caught some Coosa bass before I even knew what they were called. Hiked into the Conasauga wilderness to camp and fished up the Jacks river in 1980 with spinning tackle using trout lures and crickets. I'd never been up there and the first day we hiked up towards the falls and I kept catching these fish which were obviously bass but the undersides were real bluish tinted and they had red eyes and the ones I caught were about 8-10 inches. Years later I learned they were indeed a separate species of bass. Caught a lot of trout that trip as well...all native fish in the 7-9 inch range for the most part. One brown trout was caught right before complete dark on our first night about a mile and a half below the falls...it was over 17 inches, but long and skinny like a snake. It was summer and one day a lightning storm was working up on the mountain about 5pm and when those trout felt the thunder vibrations they went into feeding mode and I caught and released 35 by 8pm to add to the dozen I'd caught from dawn til 5...best trout day I ever had. And man they fought hard...all full finned...not like hatchery reared trout...and oh so pretty! I have no idea if the fishing is still good up there, but it would be cool if you took a 2 or three day camning trip in there on the Jacks and filmed it. I went three times and always did well...went once in June...once in July and once in mid September. Tried the Conasauga up in the wilderness area twice but didn't do near as well.

    I fish a similar type spinnerbait, but it's a local brand, from H&H lures in Baton Rouge; they come with this unique double-pronged hook that comes unattached in the package - you have to thread it on the main body, and you can rig it prongs-up, so it isn't as prone to snagging. They're only a little over a buck apiece, so you don't mind the inevitable losses to the trees, etc. However, my favorites are those little roadrunner spinners, usually with a curlytail grub; I can catch anything on them in the creeks around here.

    like the creek fishing now ,wanted to go today but grandkids are more important. It was warm enough 73 but the wind was terrible 30 mph gusts.

    Hey John. I was just wondering if you have barbless hooks in the US ? I find that barbless hooks are much easier to remove from the fish and cause a lot less damage, especially on smaller fish. Most catch and release waters over here in the UK, particularly trout fisheries, have a barbless only rule.
