It's so great when you point out things like the clown face, one paint job that looked like a bowling ball, a watermelon, etc... I just had an idea, to make a "What Trogly sees in guitars" compilation video! That would take a year...going through all your videos to pick out those little tidbits, but it would be worth it!!
I remember when the Snakebyte came out and i just didn't like the design mod but after playing one in GC, it's pretty awesome. Balance and playability is like the guitar out of the way
Yeah, there's a huge difference on some things on ESP vs LTD, the top carve on an Eclipse (Single cut) is much deeper and more pronounced on an ESP and pictures clearly show the contours on the ESP Snakebyte being much more pronounced as well. Macassar Ebony is a very streaky wood.
When I was a teenager, I was playing in a heavy metal band (heavy metal sounds more wholesome to me) in a relatively small city; so when we played shows alot of the same bands would play. There was this dude in one of the bands that was 100% convinced that the only ESP guitars that exist are signature guitars... Dude drove me nuts. Tried to explain some things to him, wouldn't listen.
I have this one and the ESP white snakebyte, both of which I managed to get before the sky rocketing prices. Absolutely love both of them! As much as I would love to see a Gibson signature guitar, I'm afraid they may jump on the fact that everybody wants it and charge way too much because they know they can. Because as much as I love Kirk, everyone has been champing to the bit for a James Hetfield Gibson signature for years.
I’ve never tried to listen to more than one song off of it, AWMH I have listened to the album version, but the live acoustic version is so much better than album
It's funny. Most active pickups you need a light touch to not get that string punch. Also, add in the baritone, and this is NOT in Trogs wheelhouse play wise, lol.
@APPEALtoFEAR Softer pick attack. Light flick of the wrist as opposed to the deliberate, hard punch that Trogly uses when playing higher gain tunes. Tends to stiffen up and lock the wrist, why his tremolo picking while palm muting is slow and off tempo 99% of the time. Like the gallop. It is almost like you want to vibrate, so the 2nd and 3rd plucks are coincidental to the 1st one. Hope this helps to explain. I'm not good at breaking things down if someone doesn't get what I say (which is my fault).
@@leviathan_is_me Thanks for explaining. There are so many little things that can affect someone's playing style. I used to be able to pick really fast, but I fractured my arm right below my shoulder a couple years ago, haven't been able to play nearly as fast ever since.
James first had a SG with a baritone scale length, it was black with green flames and limited run. These snakebyte guitars are lawsuit explorers, they were initially the style as Gibsons but had to change the shape a bit. I have his book about his guitars thats how i know 😊
I love that his Grynch signature model came badged as an LTD - because that's what the original was - even though it was a full blown ESP model. Could you imagine Gibson doing that if someone got famous playing an Epiphone?
Undyed ebony needs to be a thing across more brands. It’s gorgous! I tried the PRS 277, but didn’t like it; however, Fender sells baritone conversion necks, so there’s your “baritone everything!”
LTD are beautiful and great playing guitars that out perform many US made Fender and Gibsons of the same price range. I have a 2001 LTD KH-502 and other than the cheap fake floyd rose that came with it and the frets wearing out easily, it was a nice guitar for the $700 I paid for it back then. I put real EMG 81/89's on it vs the HZ models it came with, and upgraded to a real Floyd Rose because that fake one would not stay in tune and had dents in string clamps on the bridge. Also put stainless frets on it about 15 years ago and it's great now. One of my favorite guitars to play and smoother than my PRS SE though the PRS is much prettier.
As far as punchy sounds go the only guy that comes to mind back in the 70s goes is Gary Richrath. I dont know what hi set up and tuning was but he sure could pull out some chunky tones as well as blistering highs when doing a lead run.
This is my first guitar I've had for 2 years now. I didn't know it had a larger scale length till now. I wonder how it will be to play on a smaller guitar
First time I see a Guitar completely changing trogly's playstyle! although, even being a metal guy, I personally am not a fan of active humbuckers, these sound way too dark for me, even dull in a way... I'm used to the brightness of my Tele!

It took me like 2 years just to pay off my Flying V. You'll see more guitars in a week than I will in my entire life , and I have like 19 of them. It's insane... the amount of stuff you go through 🤯
Damn that’s so sick, I love Metallica and they are one of my biggest inspirations for playing guitar. Hey Trogly I’ve been a huge fan for years, I’m a poor, broke guitarist who has no gear but an old crappy acoustic guitar. Is there any chance you could help a guitar player and fan out by donating a cheap electric guitar or know anyone who might be willing to donate an electric guitar to a struggling musician? I just want to play and create music again which was my only love in this world. I’m a good person and not someone trying to take advantage or anything shady. I gave you my honesty and transparency even though it embarrasses me. After losing my job during the pandemic I had a sort of mental health breakdown and because I couldn’t work I had to sell all my gear to survive with rent, bills and food. I pray to God each day for help and hope for one day to be blessed by the almighty, however it may happen. Take care sir, I apologize for the long message and embarrassing words that others are going to read. God bless everyone.
Those Korean made guitars are really well made instruments, if you're a beginner and can't afford a good guitar, you can consider buying a used one. I have an old Dean lawsuit V made in Korea and compared to affordable guitars of today's market it has nice specifications.

C# is actually what James hetfield has his baritones tuned to (used for things on st anger, the thing that should not be, and dream no more)

Stevie Ray Vaughan played 13 gauge strings on the high E string!!!!!
