Very interesting video amazing that a 508 has gone 308000km.. How many years did that take? I've gone 230000km in a Kia Forte 2010 2.0. never used additives only 5w40 Helix Ultra Shell and runs like new Good on your own oil changes too. Been looking for a teardown of internals of Ceratec use your car looks like the ideal case study
It took a little over 8 years to do that mileage. Only started using Ceratec 2 years ago, just to see if the engine runs better and keep in shape. Before that, all the oil changes are OEM spec and replaced before the manufacturers oil change intervals. Also I let it the engine run for at least 3 minutes before driving off after cold starts and wait at least 1 minute before switching off. All internal parts such as piston rings, turbo, gaskets are still factory originals. All I can say is that there is not much noticeable difference in performance with the Ceratec, but the engine seems to run slightly quieter during cold winter start ups.
@@TheLittleCatchannel makes sense as yours is turbo. I think it's the prince 1.6 bmw engine? From a lot a lot of research, every single person who uses Ceratec or engine flushes is also very good with scheduled maintenance. I've not come across any case of ceratec improving anything that wasn't already good with the normal maintenance schedule i.e using the right oil, correct intervals etc. All experiments show no valid difference between Ceratec and a good engine oil. But if i find a teardown showing clearly improved engine internals before vs after, I'll believe it ... Thanks for the video
You should invest in better oil (Castrol Edge) instead of that Ceratec. I have VW Passat 2,0TDI with over 350.000km. I always used Castrol Edge without any additives (oil changes every 15,000km) and it runs like new, even in winter. It also consumes less than 1l oil every 15,000km.
That's nothing. You would reach that mileage with virtually any synthetic oil. Those 2.0 TDI's run forever. They're a few out there with over 500K miles, not km's...

It is the Ford PSA 1.6 unit that I have. Yes, scheduled maintenance and the right oil is very important. Thanks for the comments!
