I have a whole.summer to practice but I've never played volleyball, I wanna play in my freshman year so badly though
I'm starting next year in 8th grade and I have have the whole summer to practice too!

I'm in club volleyball right now and my last tournament I was getting so mad at myself because I messed up every pass and there was a girl on my team who didn't help me feel better because I set one time and I messed it up and hurt my wrists and she said "if you can't set don't do it." I love volleyball but people on my team make me feel bad.
Who cares what other people think, play if you like it.

I'm a setter (in a 5-1), and that's pretty much what happens when I try to pass.
Melody Sykes I know how you feel. the people on my team are salty, but there's nothing you can do. My advice to you is just focus on yourself, but if it really does bother you, then speak up and you will feel a lot better. :)

*SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME ADVICE* I'm going into high school next year and I don't know how but somehow I ended up signing up for volleyball. My friend made me do it, but I'm scared because it does look intimidating, but mostly because a lot of basic mean girls are signing up (you know, the types with ombre hair outfits never less than $70 an instagram that makes them look 20 and speak like the same language and shade of like the f-ing Kardashians). The basics LOVE her for whatever reason (probably because she isn't an overweight unathletic underdressed ugly whale like me lol) and hate every inch of my soul. I end up having a ton of shade being thrown at me because I am literally the worst player in any sport I know, not to mention I probably have more fat rolls than Ronald McDonalds mother. She made me sign up in a "prove them all wrong" type of way and basically gave me a really inspirational speech about them regretting calling me fat when I walk on the stage to graduate, yada yada. I DO want to do it though, not just because my friend wanted me to do it with her. But who am I kidding, I'm probably going to regret the second I walk into the gym lol (but hey! maybe not?). So could someone give me advice on what to do? It would be really helpful ~
I was in your position when it came to cheer because some basic girls on the team said I should just stop now and not sign up. Plus, I had cut my hair so I had very short hair on the squad. I practiced everyday. It was funny because I ended up being captain and they got kicked off the squad after three games.

One thing I’ve realized is don’t allow people to limit what you wanna do. You’re always going to have people putting you down you gotta push through it! I was terrible but with practice you really can get better dude!!💖

Http.unmade✨ if the tryouts are very near (like mine are) I recommend going to a place where there is a net and have a person (the more people the better) and practice with them. look up the basics like bumping, setting, spiking, and basic serving. To really grab the coaches attention have good form in all of these, and get the serves over no problem. Things like the cat back form for bumping/ shrugging your shoulders when you go up in bumping somewhat help the ball go to the place it needs to go. Also in bumping your hips have to face the person/place your bumping to. For setting use a window shape and spread your hands apart a little for your hands to actually have a better probability of setting the ball, or if you have a ball with you put your hands in a diamond shape then lift your hands off the ball and put them above your head. For spiking your should look up how to do a 3 step for back and outside hitting. And for serving also look up the basics for that as well. I hope this helps a lot! (I've been doing Volleyball for about 4 years so I picked up a lot of things). If you don't (but I hope you do!) make the team, try to see if your area has club volleyball to get more help so you'll be prepared for next year.

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go back but just seeing the game clips at the beginning made me so excited 😆 I can’t wait to at least go back and give it a shot. I completely forgot about knee pads but oops

I made the volleyball team in the 7th grade this year in the 8th grade i hope i make it im really good at serving but i haven't practiced all summer because i lost my volleyball at the ymca. So now i need to start practicing before school starts in 3 weeks cause tryouts are the first- second week of school. But this is very helpful.

All I do to stand out is, I'm loud excited, hustling, and cheering other people on. And you if have some experience, then you'll definitely make the team.
I’m really in love with volleyball and I’ve never tried out for a school team or a club but I’m planning on it and i had the whole summer+quarantine time to practice and improve on the skills I needed to work on. I thank my brothers for teaching me how to play vball but I never got to try out for anything and I really do want to play in a real official game.

my mom won't let me get a volleyball. so i cant practice out of school, and i only have practice once a week. *sigh*
before I got a volleyball, I actually practiced with any ball I can get my hands to. and sometimes I practiced with my pillow. but I have a volleyball now, so.
I'm late but you can go to a gym or use a later soccer ball or pillow or just ask your coach if you can have private practice
practice is five days a week for me. kind of annoying sometimes lol

U could always ask your coach, I'm sure that he/she would be happy that you want to practice if they have an extra

My tryouts are on August 22nd for high school JV I made the team in 7th but I didn't get my physical in on time for 8th so I missed a lot of learning to spike so I've been working the entire summer my serving is good but I have to teach myself to keep my arm straight rather then curving it before hitting the ball so I can't wait for tryouts open gym is staring next week but I can't go for the 2 weeks but the 3rd week I'm going I really hope I make the team

Ok I'm a freshman in highschool and I played volleyball for 2 years in middle school. I never played club but I really want to, so I can improve my skill and possibly make the highschool team next year. The problem is, I don't know how to start club or where to start exactly. i use to play volleyball in my school but i didnt feel comfortable with my team mates since i wasnt the best player(because it was my first year) but i really regret give up on that because now i love it.. so im going to try to go to a different team so i can continue to play volley. :)

KutieKimmy 6 Hey, I'm trying out for club as well next month.😊 To serve higher you would need to throw the ball higher. Also hit a lil above head/ear. Good luck I hope this helped❤

I'm so scared! It's my first year being privileged to try out for volleyball. I'm in 6th grade, so we start slightly later. They did have volleyball camps, but I could never afford to go! I've been cramming in 1 hour to 30 minutes each day since this week after school. Try-outs are in the first week of December, (Next month.) and I haven't had much help. Other than a few tips here and there from UA-cam and my friends. From what I've heard from my friends, there's one girl in my grade who can spike. She's the only one. But, I can spike as well. So, I guess that's something. Any tips?
Hey I'm sure you'll do great! My volleyball tryouts are also the first week of December, I'm in eighth grade and have made the team for all ,y other years of playing. Some things I would say to try and do is act confident so the coaches know you're a good leader, be a well rounded player don't try and limit yourself to one position we have many girls that play multiple positions that are good at everything, and lastly have fun if your caches see you enjoying yourself they will know you want to be there and will most likely try hard and continue to grow throughout the season. Yeah you can. I wasnt good at serving but i was good at everything else and i made it. The coach just worked on serving with me and at the end of the month i was serving so good. So yeah😄
