  • @iamwindchakra

    It would have been valued at more had it not been adjusted to be a pendant. Hallmarks are important! Ya'll have to remember too that antique jewelry pieces are valued at their metal worth, stone worth, style, and maker. Not by she, not just because they're old. If there's not a huge name attached ( Tiffany, Van Cleef) and not a rare stone (like a Burmese ruby) the value will be significantly lower cause collectors aren't looking fur that type of item.

  • @pumpkindiamond994
    @pumpkindiamond994 2 роки тому +3

    Yeah the design is too busy for an engagement ring✨💍✨so it looked better as a pendant or brooch. But I wonder if it will be appraised more if it is in the original ring setting? $20k dollars is just average for that jewery coz the diamonds are fine.

    Please , don't point with a sharp edged metal screwdriver at and in the vicinity of such an object . Use a wooden peg or plastic pointer of some kind . Sometimes one sees this also being done with valuable watches . It is so easy , just make use of wood or plastic , or something of soft and non scratching material . Then no accidents can happen , and the spectators can watch any indicating movements without ending up at the edge of their seats , whilst observating the explanations .

      You people are so weird. You don't get to decide for someone else. Myself, I think a ring that size is ridiculous. A woman would have to have huge hands to wear something like that, and it would be heavy and constantly in the way. It's much more functional as a pendant.

      20k is the value as is. If it hadn’t been altered and with the maker’s mark, I’d say 35k to 40k, maybe higher on a good day. I do feel like the maker could possibly be researched, as this wasn’t an assembly line piece, but made for a duke, and the dukedom probably had specific jewelers they favored. Wouldn’t be easy, but I think definitely possible.

    It's much more then 20K. The removal of the shank & mark decreased the value. The add-on stem is a bad taste. The duchess should have her engagement ring auctioned and gave her niece the money, and let someone who can admire the jewelry design have the ring. This is just an example that a piece of art was given to a person with no taste at all.
