I agree with all who liked this film . It is not a waste of time at all . The acting is good as is the storyline. Cloris Leachman is one of the most underrated actresses and she is very good here . If you are a fan of film nor as I am , watch her performance in Robert Aldrich's 1955 classic Kiss Me Deadly . Then you will see a tour de force !
I enjoyed this. It's quite straightforward but with just enough suspense to make it interesting. Cloris Leachman looks pretty with her long hair and '70s dresses.
I’m confused - why would the husband be on trial? He has an alibi. He was dead drunk sitting at a bar and was actually brought home by a police officer. Apparently, there’s no evidence as well. I know it’s a movie, but come on.
The casting of Laurence Luckinbill must be said to be a stroke of luck for this TV suspence movie. Luckinbill is just perfect in the role of a psychopathic killer who can talk his way out of any stressful situation. Nick Nolte shows in this movie a more subdued side of his acting skills, which nevertheless evokes empathy during his statements in the courtroom. After the movie I was left with a great experience.
Thank you. I shall watch. Good cast. Laurence Luckinbill is married to Lucie Arnaz (for those who didn't know) for 45 yrs. They have 3 children together. He's now 90, Lucie is 73 now.💓🎭💓
Why didn’t they bring up the fact that he was bought home by the policeman? He would have recorded the time , and patrons in the bar were witnesses ! Also the jury is usually kept in secure hotels while the trial is ongoing until the verdict ….
Exactly the reasons why this movie was so poorly scripted. I cannot for the life of me understand why so many people missed what was so obvious right from the beginning of the movie.
Thanks for the upload. This movie was gossiped about over coffee and tea or afternoon cocktails by bored suburban housewives as if it were a documentary when it came out. An opener for social discourse.
1. John had a perfect alibi - he was in the bar all night. Why it never came up during the trial? 2. Thunder does not occur at the same time as lightning.
@sjefhendrickx2257 There used to be a time where the actors would be able to deliver three times as many lines for every one line they deliver today. Scripts were more challenging for actors and the stories more engaging to watch. They'd probably consider today's actors overpaid celebs.
Husband: Darling, there's a thousand reasons why your theories don't add up. Wife: And only one reason you're gaslighting and not completely gobsmacked that I've accused you of murder! Husband: I'm good. It's water under the bridge. Let's go to bed. Wife: Okay darling. 🙄
Wow what a good movie. Women now days are educated to not confront anyone who may be abusive to them. Even if you think they won’t hurt you, they can turn on a dime. A lot of people have mental issues that are brought out in the open when they are confronted. It’s best to be where you are protected.
Nick was at the bar pounding down drinks when the officer was called that had to be around the time his wife was being murdered. And I guess it didn't take the officer more then 15-20 minutes to get him home. I noticed that the bartender wasn't a witness. No detective work done whatsoever. Only in the movies.
The American justice system strive mainly on sentiment and emotions. And worst of,is witnesses who doesn't have a clear pic,or detailed knowledge of what they are declaring as witness, The man was drunk to stupor, even sleeping on the bar cater,a police or sheriff took him home, saw how he moved to the floor when he saw her there. And the scarf?? How many people will own it in that town? If not for the 3 ppl who are not convinced, innocent ppl rot in jail in America Bec of laziness from the police and defense council.Bad men every where. Why should it have to end in death?
The *synopsis in description gives framework for film.* Maybe best to read it twenty minutes in 20:00 *GOOD FILM.* Nick Nolte is untypically understated. 🤠
We all have eternal life. The question is where will you spend it. Jesus died on the cross for you. He who hears my word (JESUS) and believes in Him (GOD) who sent me will have eternal life! He will not be condemned, he has crossed over from death to life. John 5:24
@@Theaddora Also, the way he often referred to her as 'Angel' was similar to what the accused man had heard his deceased wife mention when she was ill before the baby's birth: She was hoping for someone to call her 'Angel' again.
Quite a few flaws, poor script. Nick Nolte would have had an alibi, the coroner would have been able to determine that at the time of the murder he was drinking and also why would the murderer leave the scarf he committed the murder with at the scene of the murder? and it was not Nolte's scarf. Nick Nolte's lawyer was a brilliant actor. And Nick Nolte did very well, you could see he was going to become a big star.
Nick Nolte was also an alcoholic. He was notorious for showing up at the country club drunk and taking tips off surrounding tables to pay for his coffee instead of signing for it on his father-in-laws tab. Waitresses were forced to allow the rinse and repeat without complaint or compensation.
Best alibi a person could have. This whole movie is totally flawed. Enjoying the acting though. Best Nolte movie was 48Hrs. Easiest gig Nick ever got, not a lot of lines to remember.
What's your favorite Nick Nolte movie? Down And Out In Beverly Hills for me :)

She should have waited until he went home. Call the wife at another time. Better yet leave the guy he's worthless.

She looks just my mom did at the time. It brings back of nostalgia!
Wow what an end! They dont make movies like this anymore, that quality has been lost 💯👍
A very suspenseful movie Thank you,for showing it.

@@Lynoreprice Because they assumed he killed her and afterwards went to the bar to get drunk.
Unfortunately lazy police work. So many people end up in prison for a crime they didn’t commit
I don't understand why the husband/his lawyer did not say that the scarf that killed his wife wasn't his scarf.
Exactly, where was the police officer? And the time? Stupid.
Very true! I thought that too after he was in the courtroom. Why didn't they ask the bartender what time he was there?
It's an interesting plot and thanks for the synopsis. I only watch movies that have synopsis.
A great story & well paced production. I enjoyed this movie immensely.
Thank you, Stream City.🎥

Fantastic movie!

Great movie! Love Cloris Leachman ❤ Have to love Aunt Clara when she leaves Mayberry from time to time 😅
Great actors/actresses, great movie...I give it a 👍
Would have been better without the spoiler in the description. At least change it to, she discovers she knows who the REAL murderer is. C'mon people!

Why would Cloris suspect her husband of the murder? He seems to be a very nice and attentive husband. This movie is very weird.
