  • Shyam Selvadurai is a Toronto-based novelist. His articles have appeared in The New York Times, Time Magazine, The Globe and Mail and the Toronto Star. He won the 1995 Books in Canada First Novel Award, now known as the Amazon.ca First Novel Award for Funny Boy. The Hungry Ghosts is his most recent novel.

    Thanks, Shyam. Seen in London. I read your book funny boy after seeing the film to see the bigger picture in 1983 period. I like it as it is candid and true. Plenty of thoughts to reflect if Anglican or Roman Catholic pastors might have helped etc. I have ordered your The Hungry Ghosts book which is also available in our local library to read. Perhaps another film - short story type film - room for Tillotama Shome/ Sir movie to act also ? (Tillotama is Sanskrit means a small seed).
