Agree.....The make-up of this management/FO, its unusual hierarchy/influencers, Magic's departure & their habit of recycling coaches & players have created a pretty toxic image around the league. It's simply going to get more difficult to rely on "legacy" to attract star players, good coaches or qualified management. We are in a world of hurt until the above gets addressed. All imo.

Jeanie and Linda have been best friends since 1979 (after Dr Buss hired her to work on tennis and volleyball stuff with Jeanie (basically the sales team) at the Forum and btw, Dr. Buss was dating Linda's sister who was a Playboy Playmate at that time). Linda eventually became an executive director of special projects for the Lakers a few years back. She was officially a special projects associate with the Lakers since 1999. Linda is Jeanie's closest confidant and her "right hand". Jeanie and Jerry West's relationship was pretty strained since 1999. This was when she became Vice President of Business Operations for the Lakers. It became strained because she and the Lakers HC Phil Jackson became a couple which in Jerry's eyes was a "conflict of interest" while Dr Buss reluctantly supported their relationship. Jerry West definitely had a problem with Jeanie posing for Playboy a few years earlier as well. Dr Buss didn't always treat Jerry the best in that Jerry felt underappreciated by the time he left and Dr buss never paid the bonus that he promised to Jerry. After Jerry left the Lakers in 2000, my guess is that Jeanie and Jerry's relationship was cordial up until the mid 2010s or maybe as late as 2019 (when Jerry's voicemail leaked of him calling the Lakers a "sh*tshow"). Jerry took heavy offense from Jeanie leaving him off her top 5 Lakers ever list and the final straw was when the Lakers cancelled his lifetime Lakers tickets. Jerry admitted that he thought he had a good relationship with Jeanie in his 2022 interview with The Athletic but that might not have been the case. Also, he said 2 people within the Lakers org hate Jerry. You and I can take some guesses as to who they are. I don't know who they are, but I definitely know it's not Kurt. Phil hasn't been officially part of the Lakers since he left in 2011 (although Phil will still offer advice to Jeanie when she asks him) but Phil and Jerry definitely did not like each other

The reason I don’t take it as Dan Hurley was speaking on behalf of himself is because Lebron’s support was displayed before on Twitter and it’s thru the conversation he had with DH. It’s obvious the support is there. If there was no support, he wouldn’t hit him up in the first place. Even so, there is gonna be interest for Lebron, you got Philly ready to give him the max. Sooner LBJ leaves, the sooner we can position ourselves for getting a younger star. It won't happen this year, but with a trade or two and manipulation of the roster, we could be ready to add a star as soon as next year.

I think Christie needs to play more and people need to perform. Look at the last 4 in the playoffs. How many SS are on their team. I'm a Laker fan through and through, and this is what I think - if Lebron wants to go, let him go. if he doesn't want to commit and continues to play head games, let him walk. make a trade. Lebron has always had the 'urge' to leave a team whenever things don't go his way. well, the Lakers are BIGGER than one man, even if that man is Lebron James. FYI: Kobe Bryant will ALWAYS be a better team player than Lebron James for one plain as day fact - Lebron James is right now with his fourth team and possibly moving on to a fifth. Kobe Bryant spent his ENTIRE 20-year career with ONE team - the LOS ANGELES LAKERS! THROUGH THICK AND THIN, Kobe Bryant STUCK IT OUT. His 5 NBA Championships came with ONE team, LA Lakers. even if Lebron somehow gets to #5, it won't be with one team, just like his scoring rank did not come from one team. what Kobe had that Lebron seems to be lacking is TEAM LOYALTY. I love Laker Nation, but when we do these trade episodes it makes it seem like nothing is possible. If that was the case no one would be traded in the NBA ever! We would never have tried for Kobe and Shaq in the same summer. Cleveland ended up with D Mitch out of no where and Holiday and Kristaps ended up on the same team in back to back moves last off-season. Even with the new CBA it's possible if you're creative.

Lebron is a winner. I think he loves LA but if the Lakers don’t put together a contending roster there’s a strong possibility he leaves. He wants at least 1 more championship and knows whats in store for the Western Conference next season. It’s going to be a very interesting offseason for the Lakers
What? LeBron loves himself. He caused many of the problems. He is the one who wanted Westbrook. Every bad decision that has been made has been a decision that had been pushed by LeBron because the FO is weak. Being a great player can still mean not clutch in the biggest games or not having the biggest head in the world that you are a cancer. I think if a team could choose him or Jesus, he would think the team that took Jesus over him was foolish.

Go all in, as far as what? They traded all the young players they had for AD because Lebron wanted veteran help. They got a title and have been a mess every other season. Now they have no cap space and they are willing to trade all the assets they will have available to bring him more help. What else do you want them to do for LeBron. They are also willing to pay a max to a guy who doesnt affect winning anymore. I mean if he takes a major pay cut they can bring him help otherwise the Lakers need to be ready for the play in again.

If the Lakers can only get one wing player this offseason then here’s who I think they should target and the ranking
1. DeMarr DeRozan-From LA and can still be an effective scorer at the 2/3 off the bench. Could get a hometown discount if available.
2. Kelly Oubre-A sparkplug scorer who can come
Off the bench and give impactful minutes
3. Royce O’Neele-Always liked him in limited minutes for defense
4. Resigning Taurean Prince-He wants to come back and with better coaching might be more effective with his minutes
Overall, there is marginal opportunities for the Lakers to get better. Not as flashy but some options are available
