I usually need to get a “wish list” going after watching a Gritty Bowmen gear dump ✊🏾 Brian always puts out great info. BTW @1:50 😏 Did Gritty Bromen just duck face 😗
I will be getting one of those seek bottle holders, same complaint on the SG holder. I've added buckles to replace most tension attachment points and works pretty good. Adds a little bulk so still not sure I'll keep that configuration. Thanks for the gear dump
Man if you're looking for a solid pair of sock liners check out the injinji liners. They are bomb proof. The toe sock eliminates any chance of hot spots and antimicrobial. I wore 1 pair for 7 days in the backcountry and they smelt the same on day 7 as they did on day 1.
Thank you so much, Brian. Very helpful. Great. I have purchased a few of the items you recommend and the are all real good. Just got the Phelps EZ estrus elk call -- top sounds and easy to use. Thank you, from Oregon.
As for the no ground cloth if you set up on side of mountain and not flat area you can use a tree branch to build a small wall and trench on up hill side to divert the water from a down pour around your Teepee
Hey Brian, awesomely informational video as always! You briefly mentioned at the beginning of this video (minute marker 6:18) that you used a Seek Outside pack in Kodiak this year. I'm curious which pack you used then, your likes & dislikes about it & how well it worked for you overall. I'm looking at getting a new pack for this summer's scouting trips & possible early season hunting trips. Thanks!
Benadryl saved my ars this season. Was a couple miles back in and got swarmed by hornets. They stung my buddy 6-8 times and got me about 50 times. I couldn’t get them off. Was running and stripping gear for a couple hundred yards. They were stinging through my pants and shirt. Went in both ears and all around the neck and face. I chewed up a few Benadryl right away. My body got minor hives and hurt/itched for a couple days. I’m a big Benadryl fan now! Lol BTW I’ve never had or seen this happen in our area, so it goes to show you never know what you can run into in the elk woods!
Congrats man. I'll be doing a solo archery hunt in north idaho in late archery in December because early season I just wasnt so lucky. Close calls but no cigar. Any suggestions for december archery for elk?
LOL! I really want to try an EXO. My buddy, Lampers, loves his EXO and Ryan’s opinion carries a lot of weight with me. But I have no direct experience with it yet.
Brian I like the GSI water bottle but was wondering about water slosh while walking do you keep full till glassing site and drink till empty before moving that’s my thought we used to run a buckle strap around our camelbak (water bladders) to tighten as we drank to keep from making slash sounds while walking
How do you like that bino harness? I just got an Alaskan Guide max. I was considering the Adak but went the other way. I haven't had it out in the field yet but next week I will. Then I can really tell you what I like and don't like about it. The one I was using seemed to get loose all the time and really bothered me. The straps on most of them I don't care for.
I think I'm subscribed to the news letter but havent received any news letter yet. Did I do something wrong? Have checked spam folder too. Thanks. Loving the videos
Looking at buying a new pack. What would you recommend for northern British Columbia moose hunt. Stone glacier sky talus 6900 or kifaru muskeg 7000. Love the gear dump episodes!!!
Both are great packs but I keep going back to the Stone Glacier because it rides way better than the KIFARU. I just finished packing 100-pound loads of elk meat 8 miles out of Hells Canyon. I used a Stone Glacier, my buddy Anthony used his Kifaru. Anthony’s Kifaru has a tendency to fall down-it slips off your butt. If you tighten the hip belt, it cuts off the circulation in your legs. This only happens with really heavy loads but that’s when I want it to perform at its best. The Stone Glacier hip belt is legit-that pack doesn’t slip. The SG sticks on your back with heavy loads and it doesn’t move. The SG just carries better. My legs don’t lose circulation and the load transfers well from my hips to my shoulders to my chest and carries well in every position. After this weeks’s pack-out, Anthony’s low back was rubbed raw and bleeding a little-that can happen to my buddies who use Kifaru. But I’ve yet to meet a person who has experienced raw, bloody low back using Stone G. There are downsides and upsides to both packs-but the most important thing to me is how it carries really heavy loads. So far, the SG has been the best for me. But I must say that I love the Muskeg material-that waterproof material is VERY convenient. I might choose the Muskeg of a Stone Glacier for your BC hunt but ONLY if you have horses and don’t plan on carrying loads of meat out on your back. If you’re gonna be packing meat-I would take the SG; it just carries heavy loads better in my experience.
Not sure if this was in a prior podcast, but why do you shoot the ‘nock 2 it’? I’m looking at switching to a thumb release but I’m not sure which would be best for hunting.
I switched to a thumb release for hunting because I shoot it better than a wrist/trigger release. Also, I practice with a hinge release and hunt with the thumb button. The hinge and the thumb button have similar mechanics so it’s easy to switch back and forth. In hunting, I find I need a release that I can force to go off with accuracy. I have a hard time doing that with a hinge-I can force it, but not with accuracy. 😜
Hey Bill, I’ve actually never really used an EXO-I’ve never thoroughly tested one. I actually used KIFARU for a very long time and I still do on occasion. But I keep going back to the Stone Glacier because it rides way better than the KIFARU. I just finished packing 100-pound loads of elk meat 8 miles out of Hells Canyon. Congratulations on a successful hunt, I enjoy the bag dumps.
I’m so glad there are no bears in NZ
Hunt Nut
Just don't tell DOC that bears eat possums!😄
Plenty of Bears here in Canada and we are NOT allowed to carry a handgun. Bear spray, bow or rifle is all you got.
Bears are not a problem. I worry more about mountain lions.
I agree with Justin Carroll 100 %. Injinji toe sock liners and I use their toe outer sock as well. 0 rub anywhere and all merino wool.

What are the little bags called your pulling everything out of
Naw still the boogie man to me. Don’t want ticks or any creepy crawlers as I’m sleeping. Wish I could do it. But I’ll stick w/ my floored tent.
Where do you live? Here in CO and other western states guys swear by floorless. I’ve toyed the idea, but am unsure. Back in FL no way!
Always good to carry a side arm I carry a 44mag in a chest rig with bear spray right above gun don’t even know it’s there even with pack on

Does bugs sneak under the tent and get in on a floorless tent
Well I guess if I would of listened to the pod cast I would of heard you never used a EXO pack YET... LOL
LOL! I really want to try an EXO. My buddy, Lampers, loves his EXO and Ryan’s opinion carries a lot of weight with me. But I have no direct experience with it yet.
Wouldn't bringing some MRE's be the best idea for a decent meal?
I would have to say no. Yes they work and are convenient but my lord what a gut bomb.
He avoids plastics but it's weird to be leery of aluminum?

Is t it illegal in some states to archery hunt w/ a side arm? I thought it might be in Texas. Hell I hunted there for 12 years and can’t remember.

Brian, thanks for a very useful podcast.
Question, have you had any experience with Kuiu’s gear? Clothes, backpacks etc?
Thanks in advance
great video wish quality was better but non the less great video.
Wish quality was better? Dude it’s a frickin podcast.
