Enjoyed the video. Would be interesting to see how it handles whole leaf hop additions, especially in hop heavy recipes e.g. using 100g aroma leaf hops as late additions. Look forward to any videos on clean-up, including pumps and other internals. I have a Braumeister which is very easy to strip-down for a complete clean-up between brews.
How do the lids feel and how are the machining tolerances? They seem lightweight and a little...off. Especially if you look at the corner of the mash compartment at 6:15
Thank you for sharing it! So what did you think of the final brew? After 12 months of use, do you find it to be as robust and easy to operate as claimed? Thanks for your advice.
Hi Beer Healer, Thanks for the video! I received my Brewie this sunday and followed the same steps as you but now I fill a bit concerned. I don't find any information around the next steps. Do you have some brewie's links to share? I would like to know how long I should keep it fermenting, when should I set put the beer in the kegs, should I add sugar etc... I thought those instructions would come with the recipe?! Thanks for your help!
David Linder hey mate...sounds like you are pretty new to all elements of brewing, yeah? Have you read the bible of home brew? How to brew by John Palmer...it's a must! You can even find a website version for free. I suggest starting there.
Lets wait until the next one...I had a boil over due to a calibration issue and leaving the lid closed...it was a bit of a mess. But I can see that with a regular boil it would be pretty easy.
I will be honest, i wasn't impressed with the mess, but I think that will be fixed by calibration and doing less that 23l batches. I think if i stick to 20l it will be better...but I will experiment. This brew was a pre-programmed recipe and a supplied kit that came with the system. My next one is a 10l experiment.
Mate it might not have been your complete fault. I calibrated meticulously and had boil over....If you can recall did brewie ask you to put 17L for mash volume then another 17L for sparge? It did for my rusty rex....then the next day a "Software Update" came through and the sparge volume changed to 9L.....
Thank you for that great review! How did the beer turn out? I am on the fence on pulling the trigger to get a Brewie. Homebrewer for close to 10 years now with all the fermentation equipment required to make good beer. The idea of an automated wort making machine is tempting. Could you maybe brew a beer that you have made in the past on the Brewie and compare? Thanks again and cheers from San Diego, California!
All is going great, thanks! This is a great system that is teaching me a lot about recipe creation etc. My new video is up and is a recipe I have made in the past...its now in the fermenter!
I don't see the point of this machine. Not only do you not learn anything about the process and there is no creativity, it is also much more expensive to use than just going to the store to pick up some beer.
Sorry mate, but i have to call you out on this...there is ample opportunity for creativity and learning with this machine. I thought it would be more helping me save time in the brewhouse, but I have learned so much with this machine. It helps me control temperature with the brew, which i struggled with in my old setup, and allows me to do more complex mashing schedules. As for creativity...look out soon when I make a video on how to do a kettle sour in it...thats pretty creative, isnt it?
How has it hold up? I've seen many complaints on its website that it's junk.

yeah, 100g of leaf might be a stretch...the hop containers are about 4cm x 4cm x 24cm high.

Feel pretty good to me, but I am no expert!
I think the string from the grain bag is hanging out of the machine. This is why you are seeing a little gap there.
good job! i would of like to see you use the auto clean to see what kind of job it does. cheer

Hey mate, check out my other Brewie videos on here and you will see how much i love it!!

Awesome thanks mate!
I thought this Brewie would be a turnkey solution but I will probably have to invest a bit more time then!
David Linder yeah... it’s not a beer microwave 😂
How well did the cleaning cycle work?
Apart from wiping the lid, what else was needed?
Lets wait until the next one...I had a boil over due to a calibration issue and leaving the lid closed...it was a bit of a mess. But I can see that with a regular boil it would be pretty easy.
what is the volume of wort you can get? I am looking into machine but would like to make sure I can get close to 23l
I havent had 23l yet, but I think it can do it? I will find out.
What is the average brewhouse yield you achieve with the brewie?
depending on the brew, i have had as high as 85% efficiency
Looks the goods apart from the boil over. How long was the brewing process from start to finish?

You don't need to sanitize the false bottom because it all gets boiled. Stopped listening at that point.

Clueless pessimist. Ever calculate how much money that swill from the store costs you in a year?...
