- Exceptional Engineering: Armored Police Car - Fortresses on Wheels | Engineering Documentary
The protected transport of emergency and special forces personnel is its raison d’être. The police forces’ special service vehicles are designed for breaking barricades and other obstacles. The current model is the Survivor R. The 340 HP steel encased vehicle safely transports up to eleven people, drives up to 100 km/h and can handle inclines of up to 60 percent.

Free documentaries are good documentaries.
I love this they talk about violence it's them that are violent it's not the public that are violent the people just want their rights
I love these engineering series
Not gonna lie .. "exceptional engineering" is *not* the first thing to spring to my mind when I see this is a police vehicle
When something like that reaches our Shores that sound you hear creeping up behind you is Germany 1939.
But the militarization of our police force is something we can thank Adolf Reagan for who started it all. History will not be kind to him or his vapid wife. And she had a regular session with a psychic and then told Ronnie what to do.
And I'd like to choke John Hinckley for using a .22
The design is very outdated compared to what other manufacturers currently offer.
@@danmaynard5631 you do realize that this is in Germany right?
"protect and serve"...... THE GOVERNMENT. not WE, THE PEOPLE
This vehicles would be useful during terrorism in urban areas
Bringing a tank to a protest near you. Enjoy 😊
Can we stop with the cliche 'running against the clock' nonsense in all these documentaries please? The content is interesting enough by itself without this manufactured drama.
E39Hansen independent UA-cam creators are doing so much better than these “produced” shows
Even at 1.5x Playback Speed this video narration is very slow.
While were at it can we also stop doing the defocus to refocus shite it strains the eyes and is used for revealing effects , its so out dated and annoying .Just saying . lol.
Weapons of war, designed for use against civilians.
Beautiful.
When the police force starts to look more like the military, you really have to wonder who their enemies are.
a methhead in an 88 civic is a real danger to this city. he could do 2 maybe 3 hundred dollars in damaged
Terrorists?
ALL OF US!
@@bruceli9094 More people are killed in car annually that have been kill by "terrorism" in the history of the US. So no police do not NEED armored vehicles to protect the people. Control the people yes, but not to protect.
@@MonochromaticEarth Do you live in Detroit or St Louis? Otherwise damage could easily run $1000 maybe even $1100.
This engineering guy's are very clever
Ty for this free documentary. I could care less what people say..it's very interesting.

"Weapons of war don't belong on our streets!" (except when it's us and we have tanks
whoever fund, bought the rights and share it for free, thank you good sir.
I simply 2x4 slip into the hand rails alone the side would render 80% of the doors useless...
OIL ,lol
Oh my god I love these vehicular and transportation related docs, this channel has some good shit on it
Nice
Building better weapons just forces everyone to do the same. This approach just escalates any future conflict.
I agree, it's awful. Like arming more people with guns to protect against people with guns.
@@AlbertLebel it is a never ending cycle. very sad. but there is not much to do about it. anyone like the government have the resources to make these vehicles and nobody can prevent them from doing it because they can do whatever they please.
technically, it is impossible to defeat the use of such weapons with sticks and stones so i agree with your point: other people will feel the need to "one up" someone else to make themselves feel safer and that is how the never ending cycle starts.....
looking at the nature of what is called a "human" these days; i think the world today is simply the result of this disgusting money system which enslaves most of the people in this world. if everyone can live freely in a non-existent system then i think there is no reason for weapons to kill other people with.
whether it is a bow, a knife, a gun, a tank or a B-52 bomber; they are all the same: weapons to kill other people with. nothing more, nothing less. as long as ANY kind of violent INTENT or REASON to commit violence against another human being exists, there will be weapons. to me, weapons are just a sign of a core problem.
Crimes...I need one of them💯
why do you repeat everything 10 times? What kind of "enormous" stress is for a driver to drive down a slope? :) c'mon be reasonable for once..
heehee what about if someone shoves it ?lol
Now this is real men entertainment😎
I appreciate the documentary. There is great information inside it.
But MAN those inclined angles are annoying. The cameraman must have been a 12 year old.
I see that the SurvivorR has a lot of...MANpower
Ikr too many dutch angle shots

May I say that a slingshot on an armored vehicle shouldn’t be called an attack.
wow
Engenearing planing is well for antiterorism.
i never skipped ad in free documentary channel because this channel should never skip production of great documentaries. thank u
or pay for no ad service....well worth the money imo.
What is this world coming to that the police need this ? And I support the police.
if you wanna keep a vehicle movable, why would you not protect the week point(I would think that a transmission can withstand more damage than a u-joint, yet I didn't see any protection on any of them
U-joints are solid steel, transmissions are fragile aluminium encased
When you click on video thinking you are going to learn about new generation of armored vehicles and instead you got a history lesson of Germany police armored vehicles.
Hmm, did Audi deliver the 4wd system to the Survivor R? I'm pretty sure that "Quattro" is trademarked by Audi AG
Since MAN who made the platform for this truck and Audi both belone to Volkswagen group , it make sense that they share something
"Keep them safe on deployment" wtf? They're "deploying" to their own front yard, not the Kandahar province..
I know for a fact driving a regular car into a gunfight is not safe if they shoot at the car. We know that bullets can penetrate a car in most parts, only impervious when shot directly at the engine.
Front yard or a battlefield, a gun can penetrate a car, but not an armored truck
Police do not require armored vehicles and automatic weapon to fight crime, these thing are only required to control the people. Yes, I mean "we the people".
Gotta keep them safe from non violent criminals that the SWAT team gets called out to now.
@@dadillen5902 1986 Mimi Dade shooting would like to have a word with that.
@@dadillen5902Yes, obvious dog whistle is obvious. Good job.
That thing looks dope the germen police always has the nice stuff
When the police have to amour up like that its time to look at the societal reasons not react with force against unarmed civilians like hey did in Australia during the lock downs
It can take a land mine unlike a Bradley
I would love to have the second one for the upcoming zombie apocalypse
If you need these vehicles to control your people maybe you should rethink the merits of your government
Slingshots that's funny.
The SW1 can be seen in movies about the 1972 Munich terrorist attack. The attack that gave birth to GSG9.
The SW4 side door look like the rear door from the SdKfz 251/1.
Napalm they hell out of it.
The back of the SW4 remind me the back of the Schützenpanzerwagen Sd. Kfz. 251 Ausf. D
Based on MAN😱, I hope tey build in better quality for Police, new Man's comming from factory with check engine lights on dash...
1:55 cuz stones using slingshots against our bullets is unsafe!
Yaaaa that it you protection
I Want a “Survivor-Karen”
I would like to see howe they are build……

I pissed on my master's floor a little. He wasn't very happy. I don't think I'll get a biscuit tonight.
I have also farted however I am merely a mitten for a kitten

over dramatic on the test track, my stock ford ranger could go though it
Your stock ford ranger doesn't weight 12500 pounds
BOTH ARE TRUE
your ford ranger a bulletproof?
A/C condensers wide open .just sweat them out
@Austin Friedner Yeah but those bullshit trucks don't weigh in an excess of 5 Tons.
I am the liker 23
Liker23 sounds like it could be a CB radio handle or something
It is possible that an asteroid could hit the street at 80,000 miles per hour. So our civil police naturally need a vehicle armored to stop 105mm tank shots with the ability to mow down dozens of civilians at a time. How about a cotton uniform and a .38 revolver?
CAN i BUY ONE TO PROTECT ME FROM THIS VIRUS.....
I want a documentary on 500 to 1200 ton mobile cranes (ex: Liebherr)

The Holden AWD Adventra would past there trail track with out breaking in half ..
Anyone from Indonesian watch this
First problem about the engine, it’s a Chrysler
Yeah after all the years they been building cars and that i really cannot even think of one that is good
A simple shaped charge used for demolition that any construction company can buy, would tear thru this like a hot knife thru butter. Employees could get these easy.
Good luck getting hands on it without raising suspicion
Very intersting but S
till miss most important things. See first world trenches. They are sitting in an reinforced box, they don’t have the right fitting power. Lots of money wasted.
If a police force is used for what it is meant to be used for, then what need is there for armored vehicles? Militarizing police forces has historically always had one outcome, the eventual transformation of a free state into a tyrannical dictatorship. If a government is interested in enforcing the law, then conventionally equipped police forces will do just fine. However, if forcing unjust government policies onto the people, then vehicles like these are needed. People don't ask for war, they don't rebel for no reason, people want to live in peace and harmony, want to enjoy life and be free. So when a government feels the need for equipping it police forces with military hardware and combat gear, then obviously it is doing something the people don't agree with and if the people don't agree with what government is doing, then the people have the right to rebel (2nd amendment). This video is showing only the German armored vehicles and their history but what goes on there is trivial compared to what is happening here in the US where even smaller cities police forces are fully militarized with not only armored vehicles as shown here but actual combat tanks. To what purpose is that done? One can only wonder
Having armor means you can negotiate and deal with more dangerous people.
31:52 ...'pecifically... LOL
I think it’s based on the Unimog?
Boy I Telya, I think that everything in the show was repeated 4 to 5 times even the video clips I’m glad our editing process nowadays is better they don’t try and make a five minute program 45 minutes long
well, air time includes ad-breaks
The only problem with bulletproof windows is after they get enough, they basically make the driver blind due to the way the glass fragments.
good point. if such a vehicle gets pinned down by fire from all directions then the people inside are just sitting ducks. this truck is nothing more than a symptom of a faulty system.
But driver not gonna stay at one place
Maximum three or four driver gonna ram the shooter or juat drive away from there
One specimen of SW4 is in Iceland and was a gift to one of the rescue services there and it is based on the Unimog.
Indonesia has a company that makes vehicles like that. The company is Pindad
There’s something very wrong when a country’s police need vehicles like this against its own citizens? Which are the bad guys- the ones INSIDE or the ones outside?
Can it be made like a pick up truck and used as a weapons platform?
surprisingly dull. couldn't get past 25 mins having skipped a bunch. why make such a dull, long documentary about this beast?
Will guard against sling shots in very dangerous situations lol
Look up Joerge Sprave on youtube. Aside from being an awesome channel, his online presence is proof that slingshots can be incredibly dangerous under the proper circumstances.
Cybertruck..anyone? 👀
I know. The thing looks like something out of some near-future triple A first person shooter.
Armored cyber truck would be an engineering challenge I'd really like to see take shape
16g CO2 canister down the snorkel?
8:35 he looks familiar lol
Ok.. so douse the thing with black adhesive epoxy to take out the windows and cameras.. then what? 😅
German developed an agile fast and no much weight tanks but compare to the other american and rusian tank much heavier becoming obsolete in Ww2.Weight plus is important fact for surviving in urban guerrila.
This is the problem.
watching from the bermuda triangle
Even a TANK wouldn’t survive in certain American neighborhoods.
SW1 beast has typical fuel economy of any Chrysler product...
Can it block laser pointers?
except for the tyres
Esto sirve para que los pobres puedan ser bien esclavizados y los ricos tengan sus lujos sin riegos!
Since the car apear needing to extraarmour blindage to protect humans for any kind of weapon in Ireland revolution South America and Spain.
Nothing beats toxic gas
14:00 gta 5 really went to all lengths to find their vehicle designs 💀
Lots of repeating images and sound clips.
So, if someone ran a mag dump on the drivers side, they would be safe, but blind?
Nope, with a 50 cal on top they just mowe you down with that
How long is it in football field unit of measurement? One fifteenth of a football field?
I do find it worrying that a Police force require full automatic weapons.
I find it worrying that angry citizens will happily torch a vehicle with people inside it with molotovs

Why does a EU State like Germany want armed Police vehicles ? What "risks are greater than ever" ? Military then yes, but police need to keep to policing, get more police walking streets and on push bikes is the answer. Are fire depts gonna start selling log burning fireplaces and cooking ovens ? and medical having ice cream van mode when ambulances are not needed ?
If u live a Jamaica you wouldn't make that statement.. Wish some of these are in Jamaica... The murderous country in the World!
Hey look! There’s some angry citizens
Okay civilians can also buy South African built Marauder. And people in Britain and Russia can also buy Tanks. Bring it on if it can head to head with tanks
Only rich people can afford them, not the common man.
What happened to driving the VUUUNDERmobile up the 27 degree incline ???. . . . . . . Must of had too many issues after taking on the mega--ultra transaxle twisting, tire treed twanging, tailgate trueness teasing torsion test, part of the track !!
We have all type of metals but we do not have pormit to protect the police force by this type of Vehicles .if this video positively realised and designed, so we take to make a Decission to made the Munster vehicle .

The real problem is it's weight. These vehicles really need to stay on paved roads. Every added pound or kilogram of weight imposes a new restriction. There's light and fast and heavy and slow. There is no really good middle ground. A U.S. Abrams A1A main battle tank is a good portable gun platform, but range and maneuverability are a big problem.
As the World learned during WWII, a tank stuck in the mud is pretty much useless. Again, positioning a tank as a gun platform is good thinking, using a tank as a chase vehicle is looking for trouble.
These German Armored vehicles are of limited use, if I ran a Police Dept. my first question would be..."Where and when would we use these things?"
The contraption would give PD's bragging rights, but would just collect dust 99.5% of the time (the other .05% of the time would be for "training" AKA joyriding).
My guess is 1000 miles on the odometer would require several repair sessions in a shop. I wouldn't be surprised to learn for each day in operation, a day in the shop was required.
When are they coming to Bradford?
Bradford police are getting Catapillar Scrapers to upgrade their current transport - horses
Which country
Lada riva 4/4 can out do this truck on off road
This vehicle has also to succeed against domestic right wing extremist terrorism and against right wing extremist infiltration of police forces. However it can't do that. That has to be done by citizens and police officers every day and everywhere.
Funny for Elon Mask !
