I went to this store when I visited NYC. Great selection of games, but those prices were absurd

The selection is amazing but the prices are ridiculous. The whole argument of not paying shipping and handling makes no sense when they charge $50-100 more then buying online. They are fair on fixing things but idk how they are in business

Went there and the one of the employees started treating me like an idiot, decided that I wasn’t gonna give them my money. They also have horrible prices

I grew up at this shop and started first going there around 1997, having met the owner in the 90s when the location was on Elizabeth St., in Chinatown.
Shout out to them and their ability to ride the wave of the ever changing tide of the games industry. I am so happy it is still a destination for gamers. The prices are now so much more insane but it is a reflection of where the market is today.
Shout out to their old locations in Brooklyn (Nevins(closed), East Harlem (closed), and The Bronx (Fordham Rd.).

I believe the East Harlem location was on 116th and Lexington.

I just completed the video. Yeah man. Y'all forgotten to mentioned that they repair pretty much all systems.
This is a good video. They also have a fantastic statue outside their door. You can take pictures with it. It's really nice.

@@DoshiGotDeals oh they did. I'm sorry. They do great service of repairing old systems though. I'm glad I didn't need to have to learn how to mod and accidentally discovered that I made more damages than I needed to.

I checked out your other game interview video a while back, nice to see a new upload on a game store I go to sometimes. I live in New York, went to the Chinatown location back in the back around 2006-2008, and would go from time to time to look at the imports and such and once in a blue buy something. One of the the first thing I bought at the Chinatown location was the PSP camera Japanese edition, it came in a yellow box I believe. The last thing I bought was a new3ds hori tpu case. That must’ve been about a few years ago. The last time I went was about a year ago. I haven’t really bought anything or need to go anymore other than for sightseeing because their prices are higher than on the Internet, such as eBay or Amazon Japan. There are so many more places you can buy these type of things. New York over the years has become unfriendly to mom and Pop business. It became very franchise heavy and rent has been skyrocketing every year. It’s true there aren’t really any game stores anymore. Other than video games New York, but I never really been to that since its kinda cramp and overwhelming with amount of stuff, but they have sort of kind of museum cabinets so it might be worth it to check it out for that reason, I’m not sure about the pricing, haven’t been there in a long while.
I see recommended to anyone to still check it out J&L though, for reasons the employee said. I still believe this is the last true game store in New York City. That has deep roots in the city. That’s very easily accessible. Friendly staff, last time I went. I met that guy you interview, he’s the one who help to with the new3ds tpu case. It was a little tricky to find at the time, and I think it was a little cheaper online, but still bought case cause I didn’t want to go thought the hassle buying a popular Japanese product online at the time, and it would have came out more or less the same with import shipping and all. Anyways to end this comment lol.
It’s easily a cool place to go after the Nintendo store or kinokiyua since they are near by, Which is the path I usually do when I’m in Midtown. I was around the area a week ago, but I didn’t have time to go in. It’ll be a sad day If it ever closes down. It would be interesting If they went back to Chinatown, it would give me one more reason to walk around more even more often there too. lol 😄. Anyways Long live J&L 👍

his reason for imports doesnt make sense... most imports are japanese games not chinese. The main reason is to buy low and sell high. Japanese games are dirt cheap overseas, in the US people sell them for double or triple the amount.
