    Great review Shaun, as usual. I have an Accuforce V1 and it is by far the best sim racing purchase I have ever made. I am confident that anyone who buys a V2 will feel the same, fantastic product by a reputable company with great people.

      I tested the DD1 and great FFB. I don't think you need more than this and the hardware is the same. Just the software transforms the DD1 to a DD2.

    • @프레디khjfreddy
      @프레디khjfreddy 6 років тому +1

      Leynad Jee Well I wonder why there is a price difference if there isn’t any hardware difference. I know they’re gonna use the dd2 motor for the dd1, but I think there should be some difference in the control unit. Maybe the motor speed controller? If there isn’t any hardware difference, consumers won’t be happy... hundreds of dollars for a software? hmm...

    • @thenonadventure
      @thenonadventure 6 років тому

      It's only temporary. I believe Fanatec said that the DD1 motors aren't available yet so the pre-ordered versions of the DD1 will use the DD2 motor with an software restriction.
      It's predicted that the community will find a way to "unlock" full DD2 functionality but if the internal PSU is different, it may not work.

    • @프레디khjfreddy
      @프레디khjfreddy 6 років тому

      Leynad Jee Oh well that makes sense LOL. But still if that’s true, I won’t be happy... They can just enable the full power... There might be possible hacks to bring the performance up too... Just my thoughts though...LOL

    So i'm planning on re-building my entire rig and need some suggestions.
    I'm thinking of potentially getting this since its about the same price of the Fanatec CW V2.5, with the CSL elite pedals and TH8A shifter.
    Do you think all these would play well together? Also I do a lot of drifting, how would that affect the wrap around cable?

    Almost 40 months since i got my V1 i can say: it's reliable. And thanks to SC i don't look to other DD-wheels, even i would like to have a bit more torque, for karts for example. I think the cable has two positive aspects as well: you see or feel (in VR) that the wheel is in center-position. If not you might already know what happens at the start. Second is reliability. Even in professional motorsport there is no bullet-proof connection inside the wheel. There is always a bit stress to the column and the pins bent a little and can loose the connection. Happend to the Ironforce Porsche GT3 R team this season and I heard from a Formula E team about this problems as well plus many Fanatec users. But last ones can google for similar problems and will find people. The GT3-team first had no clue and thought TCS, ABS and the transmission is broken. And it always starts intermittent with a shift not recognized here and than. Possibly the reason why they killed two engines within a month before.

    • @Leynad778
      @Leynad778 6 років тому

      @@roverboy1687 Sim Commander with the Accuforce is not the problem, but with SimVibe and my Odyssey i have to start it last, because the HMD is changing something with the audio-output. But this is no problem with the Oculus, because the audio-out is fixed. Sim Commander is easy to setup with the Accuforce as well, because default is often okay and the more difficult part are the game FFB-settings, thinking of Raceroom... Setting up SimVive is far more difficult, but rewarding once you get what you want. The TS-PC-racer seems like a good wheel and i would rather upgrade to SimVibe than a dd-wheel first. SimVibe is like VR for me. Once you know it, you can't drive without.

      Leynad Jee thanks for reply I have the srs shaker cushion I like it but I’m now thinking bigger shakers on my rig would be better also it seems that the road surface is very pronounced and the curbs not so much maybe it’s a limitation of the package hardware. I tried an osw midge not sure what size at a vr sim centre in Scotland on p cars 2 and while it was stronger and I enjoyed some of the characteristics of the wheel I wasn’t blown away by it I don’t know what the settings were etc but felt as it wasn’t as big of a leap as I’d been building it up to be in my head same went for the next level v3 seatmover it was kinda cool but not fully communicative I’d like to try one again with belts attached to expansion springs to simulate the way belts cut in under breaking. On a positive note they had srs power wind simulators they were better than I realised I really enjoyed them even in tin top cars plus much better than usb fans for keeping cool in vr.
      I’m just very tempted at 699 dollars for the your way and then get my thrustmaster rims usb converted by ricmotec with the 70mm adapter plate.

      @@roverboy1687 I'm running 4x100 watt shakers for each tyre plus a Buttkicker Concert under the seat on a Brooks-spring-loaded rig. SimVibe has a lot of options to tweak, but every sim feels different as well. rF2 is great for curbs, but not much road-noise, pCars 2 is a bit more the opposite and ACC seems the best so far, at least in tactile feedback. iRacing seems dull in both, but bump suspension-effects and the shifting feels great. I will try the srs-software soon to check, if it does anything better or not.
      I tried the NLR v3 two times at the Expo plus 6 other motion-rigs. The v3 is expensive and not that fast. I would rather buy a SimXperience Stage 1, which seems a bit more violent, faster and cheaper as well. But this all doesn't make you faster and maybe even the opposite. This upcoming SimXperience GS-5 G-Seat seems interesting and maybe first choice once it get's released.

But when it comes down to sim commander that's imo as frustrating an experience today as it was years ago, as far as I can tell it has had zero updates to its actual user interface which can only be described with one word 'atrocious'. It's counter intuitive at all fronts, upon purchase of the V1 I accepted this given this was a new product and obviously would improve over time but it's been years now and we still have this cr@p cover flow to pick games, can't even use your arrow keys to move sliders around and they are so sensitive with a trackball I'm always a few degrees out of whatever setting I want. Documentation is also non existent basically, there are some OK guides out there but if you ever expect to fully understand what things do or how they interact good luck! Sure reviews like these really love to glamorize that as being oh so powerful yet complex, it's not the complexity that's the issue here though, it's the terrible interface from start to finish! The quick release is also a bit of a nuisance if you are wanting to get 3rd party wheels out there, most of them adopt other QR systems so you always have to then buy the AF ones separately and they add up quickly, not to mention that mine failed after a year so have to use a cable now which despite a 'design flaw' was conveniently out of warranty! The wheel which comes with it is also quality control China garbage, the red ring for me wasn't even in the centre of the wheel! Good luck sending that back from Australia to the US for a replacement. If the main reason you buy this wheel is because of it's included SC software given you that enhanced experience then prepare to have your frustration exceed your excitement way too often, for me SC may as well not exist and then the only argument left is its price and then you may want to think about is it worth paying more for something higher end again? I don't fully disagree with this review when it comes to the hardware but many potential buyers may be swayed by SC here as what seals the deal and that is not objectively reviewed here at all, that won't be the stars of any shows anytime soon believe me, Simexperience need to seriously hire a UI designer!

      @@stefanolsen8390 Not Danish, Flemish. Yeah it works well enough once you setup a car but if you want to create a profile for every car specifically it's very cumbersome. Then scrolling through dozens of of coverflow images to find what you're looking for, hell even Apple got rid of that feature in itunes many years ago. The whole SC user experience needs to be redesigned from start to finish, it's beyond me that this is given a pass in reviews, I assume reviewers are so wowed by its complexity and perceived power that complaining about the interface would somehow be called out as poor understanding and therefore it's exempt from criticism. To answer your other question I play all the main sims really.

    Everybody that owns this loves it more then any other dd something about the feel of it I saw a guy choose this over a simi cube 2 and shit crazy right but it's also what a constant 13nm yeah so to me it's perfect this would be the dd wheel I would get because it's perfect plenty of power and people need to understand with the latest technology in real cars the newer studies show that drivers only get around 8nm now yes way back in the day you could get up 25nm but still on average 15 nm so realistic now isnt 30 fucking nm lol that's just crazy nobody uses it at fill either so 13 nm constant is plenty hell my csw v2.5 is plenty for me if I put it up to 100 percent on this and the game wow oh wow plenty strong actually feels much stronger then 7.5nm its rated for but still that's right where professionals feel it even f1 drivers only get 7 to 8 nm now so my rig is perfect for me and plenty realistic

    I'm shocked that anybody don't like clickless paddle shifters, I love that in Fanatec Porsche Wheel. But sadly any other wheel has clicky paddle shifters and it feels to me very cheap to me, I hate this trend. Other than that I'm happy to see DD wheels becoming more affordable even though I'm not planing putting any more money into sim racing since I bought a car and I can afford to spend money only to one of them and my choice is my Alfa Romeo 156.

    My only complaint about any direct drive wheel, beyond the initial price, is they are not cross platform capable. I know people who buy this are pc players, but if I was to pay this kind of money, I want a wheel that does it all.
