    That "What?" is the correct first reaction to Igorrr. It's avant-garde as hell, but I adore this band.

      Savage Sinusoid is definitely moving toward art than conventional music. Igorrr is a genius.

    Igorrr is a trip, definitely worth a deeper dive. Here's what Wiki says: "Gautier Serre, better known by his stage name Igorrr, is a French musician. Under the Igorrr alias, he combines a variety of disparate genres, including black metal, baroque music, breakcore, and trip hop, into a singular sound. Serre is also part of the groups Whourkr and Corpo-Mente"
    His sound is experimental and eclectic to say the least, I call it music for musicians, but it's so good.

      Its hard for some people to enjoy. If you don’t get it it just sounds unorganised and hap hazard. But once you get it then maybe you can begin to enjoy it. In an interview with Gautier he said at first he wasn’t welcome anywhere when it came to playing his music. He couldn’t play in a club as it was too heavy for the electronica fans and he couldn’t play at a rock gig because he had his decks.

    You can't expect with Igorrr. Forget anticipation. The word 'expect' is not in Igorrr's lexicon lol.
    Well... One thing you can pretty much always expect is that their vocalists are exemplary. Most notably in songs like 'Opus Brain' or 'Downgrade Desert' 🤘

      @@theanunnaki334 No disrespect to Patrick (R.I.P.), but his piano playing was a bit sloppy. Having an amazing producer make his backing track was what really made him shine. His scat singing was always on point. Speaking of which- if Jim's new to Igorrr, how does he already know the lyrics to "Vegetable Soup"?

    You should definitely check out Houmous by Igorrr. Delicious compisition! Someone described it under the video as French and Balkan music mixed with blackened death metal, breakcore, chiptune, opera, gabber, klezmer, classical, progressive rock, the screams of tortured souls, jazz, metalcore, nintendocore, power metal, chickens, jazz fusion, arcade music, electro house, nu jazz, the ratatouille soundtrack, hardcore punk, noisecore, experimental hip hop, 3 satchels of coke, and polka.

    The adjective "bat-shit-crazy" has been used to describe Igorr and it's spot on imo. I highly recommend listening to the last two albums to get into them. One of the best bands I've come accross in the past few years. Endlessly inventive, creative and brilliant. And they REALLy grow on you.

    I'd say that the "abrasiveness" is not only a part of the intended experience, but is also a part of this band's appeal. Spiritual Instinct is their most accesible album as it leans more towards cohesiveness compared to the more alienating stuff they've made.

    afaik ieuD is Dieu (god) in verlan, which is a way of swapping the syllables of a word in vernacular French, hence the capital D at the end of the word.

    Thanks Jim for listening. Funny you should say it sounds like future music. It’s a bit like the opera singer scene from the fifth element. Igorrr don’t really use lyrics. The lyrics take away from the emotion of the voices. The voices are used more like an instrument. Definitely try some more Igorrr songs , like Cheval. Their videos are great and the music is amazing. If you want something a bit softer with amazing production listen to some corpo mente. Another Igorrr project. A bit like Radiohead meets opera with a side of unease. If you try corpo mente try out “Dorma” or “Ort”. Two great songs. Vocals are epic.

    Well this answers half my question from the Infected Mushroom heavyweight video!
    Now just waiting for you to react to some Aphex Twin. Recommend the song "Ziggomatic 17"- or honestly just a full album review of Drukqs. Extremely envelope pushing album, on all musical fronts.

    Also- regarding the absolute mind-f*ck that is Igorrr, I would highly recommend(and humbly request) doing a full album review of "Hallelujah." It's only about 35 minutes, but I assure you, it will broaden your horizons, maybe even by force! heh. It's the ultimate juxtaposition of beauty and brutality.
    Also, "Igorrr" himself is bald chap in the video playing guitar and the recorder at the end.

      It’s one mans vision. Igorrr started to make music for himself as he couldn’t find the music he wanted to listen to anywhere else. He didn’t expect anyone else to want to listen to it. It’s the way music should be made. It is very dark though I agree.

      @@theanunnaki334 Aside from some parts of it that I liked, I definitely couldn't just kick back and enjoy it as a complete musical piece. I'd imagine that's not what he wants anyway.
      I can certainly appreciate the artistry and skill that went into it, however.

    Never heard of him/them.
    Very mixed feelings. It’s a bit of everything at once without a real structure. I find it very tiring to listen to. Some parts I like, most of it I really don’t like. You can sing with a lot of drama but this is too much screaming for me.
    Maybe I will listen to another song by them but if that’s more of the same, I won’t do that again.

    • @AlexanderPochertPiano
      @AlexanderPochertPiano 3 роки тому +3

      You're wrong in saying that there is no real structure, however, one has to get used to listen to Igorrr. It can be totally overwhelming. You could listen to 15 different compositions of him and everything is completely different. Some come with screams and death metal singing, some only with operatic voices, some are instrumentals - and it's perfectly fine if it's nothing for you. Just wanted to point out that there is a structure in every song and there's a reason why he composed it like this.

    • @ju4408
      @ju4408 3 роки тому

      Try "Cheval". Still everything all at once, but more of a (sort of) regular song structure. "iueD" sort of drones to give the singers the spotlight.
