Don’t you risk breaking a wire(s) inserting the ground stake? How do you know where to insert the ground stake if you do not know where the wire(s) are located? Thanks.
I noticed this requires a direct connection to the utility. I cannot connect this to the 7.2kV line from the electric utility for obvious reasons. Will it still locate this high voltage primary line, sense the 60Hz magnetic field maybe or will the transmitter backfeed through the distribution transformer? This is the only line I know of in the vicinity - and it behooves us to make sure it is not going to be under where we dig. We called 811 - not only are they blowing us off - they don't believe the HV line is where it truly is even the utility did not keep a record of it (yet I see the tags at both ends of the lines with binoculars)
